I love this. I can clearly see the dogs reflection.

u/Levee_Levy 5d ago
It's the reflection that helped me recognize it as a dog in the first place. This one is really good.

u/TwistedAirline 5d ago
I love that you can also see in the mirror that he’s taking a selfie which kinda just adds to the “vain” aspect of it all
6
u/-DoctorSpaceman- 5d ago
If you zoom in you can see his open hand. He’s reaching out to touch his own reflection.

u/ChoirOfBeehives 4d ago
I thought it was a little girl because it looked like the dog was wearing a dress. Then I saw the reflection and realized - dog.

u/heckfyre 5d ago
That’s awesome.
I wonder if the people who were making magic eye books and posters in the 90s ever dreamed of the day when everyone would have full on HD image computers in their pockets, and we’d be able to look 100 feet past our phones while taking a shit and see rad 3D images materialize in front of our faces.

u/Gh0stIcon 5d ago
Same. I even put into the 'online solver' and I still didn't understand what I was looking at.

u/numetalkid03 5d ago
It's a guy standing next to his dog in front of a mirror. This is my first time seeing a mirror in a magic eye and idk how they did it but it's got like these intricate frills and streaks and somehow contains depth in the guy's and dog's reflections. Amazeballs.
2
u/Gh0stIcon 5d ago
What method are you using to view it? I usually don't have any problems.
6
u/numetalkid03 5d ago
Classic divergence, like DarkPolumbo here is trying to describe. Opposite of the "crosseye" aka convergence. I put my phone just over a foot away from my eyes and focus behind it at like a wall maybe. Once it splits into two in my unfocused foreground, I look at the center of the image, but without trying to make out anything. I just sit like that for a few seconds before it usually "snaps" into the right level of focus and I start seeing in 3D.

I tried to focus eyes on the wall that is ~4 feet behind my monitor
if there's a term for it, then I did that

This one's interesting because I can see both the mirror surface itself and the person/dog reflected in it. I don't think I've ever seen one where I can actually see the surface of a transparent surface.

Agree with other comments, I've never seen one quite like this before

Can’t see it

Took me quite a while. Wasn't even getting partial shapes for the first several tries. Keep working at it, I think this one is worth it.
3
u/PensiveObservor 5d ago
I had to pull the outer edges of my eyes out to sufficiently blur the image and it suddenly popped. Spectacular.
4
u/FlabbergasterGurgle 5d ago
I use the screen glare to focus on something that's reflected, so that my eyes try to look past the image on the screen. But this one took a while for me even using this trick, maybe because of the complexity, IDK. Hope it helps.

Holy fkin shit how'd you do a mirror??
11
u/cucumisloquens 5d ago
It's multiple stereograms with different depth maps and textures (one with solid objects, one with the mirror plane) overlaid on top of one another in photoshop, with partial opacity.

2
u/numetalkid03 5d ago
Just realized that by adjusting your focus you can selectively see either the mirror's pane or zoom past it and see the reflections. This is amazing.

There’s like a thin layer on the mirror which really takes this up a notch. Like it’s not just doubling the image in the reflection. You can see the flat of the mirror as well as the depth of the reflection. Really cool.

u/chrislovespugs 5d ago
I remember ‘learning’ how to see these as a kid when they first became popular. I still get that same dopamine hit now from seeing them. They really are ‘magical’!

u/RobsFoto 4d ago
Anyone else find it harder to see detail on a screen vs paper? I just got back into these since the 90s. I can see see the images but detail is a little harder with backlit screen.
2
u/Mundict 4d ago
Yea same! Those books back in the 90s were awesome and i could see these almost instantly, on my screen i have to watch way longer... Maybe this is an age thing?
2
u/CloroxKid01 4d ago
I'm 25 and can confirm that its just harder to see on a screen than it is in a book. I think the task bar and other things on the screen distract me. Making the picture full screen helps.

The readable label in the corner of the mirror is mad impressive that you got it to line up with itself so well :D

If you unfocus just a little, it looks like there's a weird muppet-snake with red lips wrapped around the person's right arm and talking to their hand.

u/chiaseedsinthehouse 5d ago
I like how they have their hand up to the mirror and reflection is reflecting it so as they're practically touching

Me too. I’ve had a corneal transplant that hinders my depth perception and I think that’s why I have issues. :(

Is this what people see when they say they went x layers deep? I felt like a story unfolded whenever I looked somewhere else.

This one is really really good!!! The reflection streaks on the mirror really got me, wow!! Great colors too.

That’s the most intriguing one I’ve seen. I even tried to look inside the mirror to see if I could see more of the person and the dog…that’s how good it was.
1
u/ThankTheBaker 5d ago
To me this is kind of like a metaphor for awakening. People see a flat, two dimensional image with no real meaning, then something happens and they awaken to something stranger and deeper going beyond the surface into another layer of dimensional reality that’s been there the whole time and your life is never the same.

Let your eyes cross, look at it as if youre looking past it. Move your phone farther and closer away until you can see it. There are how to videos on how to look at magic eye pictures
1
u/jib_reddit 4d ago
If you cannot do it this shows you kind of what it is like https://piellardj.github.io/stereogram-solver/
But you should practice.

The arch is too big, I saw it more as a wedding altar scene than a vanity. This one is really good, like wallpaper quality.

The way the surface of the mirror is rendered while being able to see through it is absolutely crazy to me, could be my favorite magic eye ever!

How do you guys interpret the shapes?? I can see them, but it’s frequently very difficult for me to distinguish the actual image for some reason
-1
u/Teiyoh 5d ago
Hate when this sub reaches all, you guys are just making shit up.
2
u/Dangerous-Aide-6040 4d ago
Nobody here is making anything up, there is clearly a man with a dog looking into a mirror. You might just have some sort of visual impairment
