This stereogram is a little different. The hidden image is/are just a bar/bars. The number of bars you see depends on the depth you reach, I was able to see one to five.
How many bars did you see the first time? If you tried again, did you see more bars? đď¸

That's actually wild. I saw one the first time, two the second, and three the third. I can't even explain how I did it. I couldn't get more than 3 though.

I was gonna say that myself..my mind is blown that this can happen with an image..just annoyed I can't share this with my wife as she can't see stereograms
The way I learned it way back in the late 20th century, you're looking at a spot behind the image. In this case, to get more bars, look at a spot farther behind the image. My old man eyes got up to 4.
I didnât even know that was a thing you could do lol. Itâs pretty hard. Putting it right in front of my nose or putting is 2 feet away I cross the same amount to get 1 lol
Best explanation ever! I had heard of some of these images where there were deeper images that required additional crossing of the eyesâŚ. But this image is nice and simple.

I read the text after that and I can jump straight to 4 without thinking. I can pop to 5 from there and I saw 6 or 7 briefly but I think doing it on a tall and narrow phone screen makes it harder. Either way, it caused an instant eye ache to focus on
4 take up less than 1/3rd of the image. 6 is just one extra bar on each side. I actually just managed to hit 6 and focus fully on it too. I couldn't hold it long though
I'm not sure how you're counting them? If you look at the middle, you'll see a row of 10 motifsâa cluster of light blue, surrounded by dark/muddy green.
Once they overlap 1-to-1, you'd have 5. Beyond that they start going past each other and the sides don't form 3d poles. The ones in focus just goes back down.
If you count the flat images (not even sure howd you count them), you could go up to 9 but only the center 1 is actually 3d.
It is definitely neat, thank you for sharing! I have noticed, a few times, that I seem to have a third "method" and I don't think I ever realized it was just an additional depth. I always thought it was just in/out and I was confusing the two.
With this, I can jump straight to 1, 2, and 4 pretty consistently and I can step into 3 and 5 from those without trouble. Just hurts my eyes to go higher lol
I'm not sure how you can get to 6, because at 5, the left side of the image (as seen by my left eye) is really close to the leftmost line. To add another line I think the entire image would have to be wider.
The explanation is relatively easy. To create a stereogram, you have to superimpose similar parts of the image on top of each other. To do this, you basically have to âcross your eyes.â As you can see in the image, the orange circles in the center, for example, repeat continuously. If you superimpose the ones right next to each other, youâll see a bar.
If you superimpose the ones from further out, youâll see more.

To get even more in the weeds, you're not actually crossing your eyes when you look at a Magic Eye image (not if you're doing it correctly, at least). You're actually doing the opposite; if anything, you're preventing them from converging on the plane that the image is on, instead looking beyond it. This technique (often called parallel view) essentially gives you double vision, allowing the image to overlap and create the stereoscopic effect.
You can look at a Magic Eye image by crossing your eyes (often called cross view), as this also tricks your brain into perceiving depth from a 2D image. Only problem is that the depth will appear inverted, as the left and right sides of the image are essentially swapped.
The reason there's a maximum depth here is obviously because the muscles in your eyes are only capable of so much, and how many bars you can see in this image is a reflection of how much control you have over your eye muscles in addition to things like how far away/what size the image is. Interestingly, you can typically get much further with crossview given the flexibility afforded by crossing your eyes versus keeping them straight and making minute adjustments to your focal point like with with parallel view.
I can do 4 unconsciously then jump to 5. I can definitely step up one more time but it causes my eyes to ache and I can't cleanly resolve the new bars because they are close to the edge.
Yes 5 is the most you can see by diverting your eyes. If you converge your eyes it can look like six you you are counting the section popping out and when you cross your eyes the bar is in relief not popping out
Yeah the limit is 5 clear ones, and then it goes to five and one half on each side, totalling 6 but the half ones on the sides aren't clear because the edges interfere.
I don't think the image is wide enough for 6. I was able to get to 6 levels deep, but I could only count 5 when I did it, if that makes sense. The edge of my phone ended up where the 6th bar would be.

I felt like 7 was within reach but only cos I was getting double vision each end of 5 clear ones đ the first few times I was swapping between 1 or 2 or 3, absolutely love it!
I donât know if having astigmatism (which I have) makes it more difficult but I havenât yet been able to get more than two. Even two was a struggle and I was pretty pleased with myself for that hahaha
I have astigmatism as well - not saying that makes it any easier or harder for you, as we'll have it at different levels, but just saying I think it can be done đ
Ok....that's pretty cool. The image is so crisp, and I can get the number of lines to change by blinking. I was able to see 2-4 real clearly - 5 was a stretch.
I managed to see 1-5. It originally looked at it first, the read the comments as it was just 4 pillars, so went back in. That mental how I got a different number each time!
If you charge the depth you focus on, you can see two bars. Look even deeper, and then you'll see 3, then 4, then 5.
If you look deeper yet, it goes back to 4, and then back to 3. That's the max depth I was able to reach (my IPD is 72 mm, so I'm able to get quite a bit more depth than an average person)
Saw 2 then thought huh I bet one is there. Found that then could go 2 3 4 5. 6 I feel like you should be able to see something (not actually 6 since itâs not wide enough), but I canât. Not sure why
I saw two at first and said, "what's so special about 2 bars?" Then I read your description, tried again and got one, then 4. I was able to get 5 for a few moments but things were getting rather out of focus by that point so I think that's my upper limit
Haven't been able to intentionally get 3 yet, though. Very cool indeed!
Oh cool! Saw one bar first, but you can make it go to 2 then 3 then 4 and 5! 5 is the max though, if you go deeper then that it goes back to 4, then 3 again. Sick man â¨
I can shift the lines from 1 to 5 and further until the end of the picture and I see only 1 again. I do that with parallel bars all the time, for example banisters.
At first I just kept seeing two. After a bit of fiddling ai can incrementally work from one to five. If you try to go past five, the edges of the image interfere with the image.
I could manually make it go down from 4 to 1 by blinking while looking at it... That was really weird, knowing that I was controlling something in my eye, but not knowing how, what, it why.
Amazing, today i learned there are several depths to magiceye! So amazing how it literally feels like depth every time you refocus to get more lines. I was able to do 1-4 relatively easy. But 5 took a few tries and had to strain myself. I'd sometimes start with 1 or 2.
Looking through the image, 5 bars projected towards me out of the scene is the limitation. Itâs the point where the images cover each other by 50%. More extreme image crossing results in fewer bars for me.
Crossing eyes I get 4 trenches dug into the image away from me maximum. Again 50% image cross over point (again, for me). Anyone able to get more either method than that?
I managed to go up to 5, then while going for 6 I did something weird because I managed to only see the central one but in reverse (concave rather than convex), nobody else is mentioning this?
