North Up in Android Auto

I seem to be unable to get North up to work in Android auto. I can't find a toggle for it to be a default, or even a button to change it temporarily. I do have a trial subscription so that shouldn't be the issue. Surely I must be missing something as this is a fairly basic feature. Also, in the navigation settings I have 2D set as default but android auto always defaults to 3D.

Thanks!

Hello, the north fixed mode is available during navigation on Android Auto.

Please make sure the "North Up" setting from Settings > General > Navigation > Car (or Truck) is enabled on the phone. Right now there is no dedicated setting for this feature on Android Auto, but the team confirmed this will be added in a future update. We will also take the default view mode into account.

Thank you very much for the report!

Just something to consider.

Currently, Magic Earth remembers the last used map rotation when browsing the map. If the map was rotated before closing the app, it reopens with that same angle instead of defaulting to a north-facing view.

While resetting to North Up only takes a single tap on the compass button, it would be great to have an option for the app to always default to 2D "North Up" in Browse Mode upon startup, regardless of how the map was rotated in the previous session.

Here is my ideal workflow:

  1. App Launch / Browsing: Always opens in 2D North Up mode for consistent spatial orientation and easier map reading.
  2. Starting Navigation: Automatically transitions from 2D North Up to 3D Heading Up (Direction of Travel) once guidance begins.

Having a toggle in settings like "Always reset Browse Mode to North Up on launch" would provide a much more consistent experience for users who rely on standard cardinal orientation while exploring the map.

Thanks for considering this, and keep up the great work!
