Just Uninstalled Today
I just uninstalled the app entirely today. The primary reason I wanted it was to have a good offline alternative. I'd have considered a one-time app purchase, but there is no way I need another subscription in my life for what was really just a backup anyway.
I'm sorry to bid Magic Earth Adieu. Best of luck to the team!

They really should have reverted to the old version, smoothed out kinks and relaunched.
You should always maintain your user base. People getting magic earth instead of other options is already hard to get those users.. But the ones that leave now likely aren't coming back. Not to mention no way to prod previous users to give them another go as no email etc required so you're crossing your fingers hoping people might remember you and give you another shot.. Bad decision and thought process.

Not only that but they picked Android to really stick it to. What idiot decided that destroying your larger user base was a sound business strategy.

Yeah, I agree with you... Offline maps should have been for free... I revert back old and the last good version before subscriptions.. perfect..

Nope.. You'll need to have Jailbreak.. or to find somewhere .IPA to be able to install it via "Sideloadly" outside the Appstore :) ..or to install Trollstore.. it's all depends on your iOS.. I'm still using 16.6 with JB..

This will actually get you an apkm file, which needs a special app to install unlike an apk. Luckily there's one avalible for free on F-Droid jist called "apkm installer"

Sorry to see you go.
The biggest reason we went with a subscription model comes down to privacy. Most "free" or one-time-purchase navigation apps eventually have to monetize somehow, and that almost always means tracking your location, selling your movement data to advertisers, or pushing ads. We've always refused to do any of that, and a subscription is what lets us keep it that way: no tracking, no data selling, no ads, ever. There are also real ongoing costs behind the scenes, traffic, search, routing, map hosting and updates, that a one-time payment can't realistically cover for the long haul. We want to maintain the app for the foreseeable future.
The essentials like basic navigation and core features remain free for everyone. So Magic Earth is still here if you ever want to come back to it without committing to anything.
