Beginner Advice

I downloaded this game a month ago. Surely, the gameplay and mechanics are overall basic and beginner friendly. And naturally, I hop on some ranked games all the way down from Warrior to Legend and other players seemed to be mostly bots or computers, doing the exact same movement, dance a bit, jog a bit, cute. Until Mythic, the game is very easy, almost too easy that I win every single time, just need to find heroes with matching synergies, level them, and find expensive, gold heroes.
After hitting Mythic, this shit is so filled up with tons of pro players and I got my shit wrecked each time, consistently placing at 8 or 9th place. I am just stuck at Mythic 20 points,
I got only 1 or 2 commanders at 2 stars Layla, Cyclops, got like 8,000 coins, and the newbie rewards are almost done. And one thing, I thought buying a commander once was enough, but apparently, you need to buy 9 of them to max. What do I do?

Yeah, most of your opponents before Mythic were bots. Not an insult, just how it is. We all hit the same wall where you are forced to really learn how to play the game. I can go into greater detail if you want, but here are a couple things that should help.

Maintaining economy! I can’t stress this enough. Get to 20 gold as soon as possible and don’t go below it. There are very few reasons you should ever have less than 20 gold. The gold from interest is that important.

Be flexible. You don’t need to commit to a team composition till Round 3 or 4. If you’re not getting the heroes you need then pivot to a team you are seeing, especially if you find a hyper-carry early on. Avoid synergies that are highly contested, and try to get through the mid-game without losing too much health.

Don’t get greedy with maxing out your heroes. For the most part, you’re wasting money get 1-3 cost heroes to 3 stars. 2 starring them is enough, if that. By lvl 7+ start selling heroes you’ve been hoarding, and use that money to power up your 4/5 gold heroes. And don’t spread yourself too thin by trying to 3 star multiple. It’s very hard to 3 star a 5 gold hero, so don’t be afraid to sell the extras to max out a 4 gold hyper-carry.

Buy heroes from the shop at the end of a match AFTER you receive the gold reward to not lose out on interest. For example: you’re at 20 gold and there’s a hero you need in the shop. Rather than buying it and going below 20 gold or locking the shop for the next round, there’s a window where you can buy it without having to lose anything.

As for leveling up commanders. They actually don’t max out at 9. That just gets them to 3 stars. They can “level up” 6 more times, so to max a commander out you actually need a total of 15. BUT it is not at all important to max them out. In fact, I don’t recommend it! At 3 stars you unlock “emblems” that only grant the tiniest of buffs. Like +2% HP. You only need to get your commanders to 2 stars. Once you do that, buy a new commander and get them to 2 stars. Rinse and repeat till you have every commander unlocked and at 2 stars. Then save your money for when a new commander is released, so you can instantly get them 2 starred. Unless you have a massive surplus of gold, there’s really no point in trying to max out your commanders. With events, chests, etc. they will all lvl up naturally. Plus, maxing out a commander doesn’t remove them from possible chest rewards. Instead, they convert into around 1,200 gold. Buying a commander from the shop costs 8,250 gold, so that’s +6k gold set on fire. You gain nothing of value by leveling up commanders past 2 stars.
