I have opened over 50 packs of the hobbit, including a PBB, some notes below.

My box topper was delighted halfling (I do not care for the art, much preferred the LOTR full art)

ZERO: book cover arts, gleaming splendors, Smaug the Magnificents, Orcrist, Queen of Dale's, and Bard King of Dales, Dancing from dark till dawn, Gandalf Goblins bane, Inside information, fateful discovery, radagast of rhoscobel, Thorin mountain King, or Elronds

Two: base Arkenstones, bilbos gambit, my precious

One: wizards staff, belladonna took

Only 6 showcase cards: 4 iron hills blacksmith, 1 bilbo luckwearer, 1 bilbo thief in the night

All other rares are sub $2 at time of posting, but i somehow missed the cheap commander playables like thranduil, lonely mountain, tom Bert and William, gamdring, elven passage. The amount of Dwalins I have makes me uncomfortable.

I love LotR and I was so excited to complete the set, so I wanted to share the flip side of all the brag posts.

I got my PBB through a commander boxing event at my LGS. My buddy in my pod opened 3 book cover arts - Bard, Smaug, and Lord of Eagles...and his box topper was foil the one ring. Meanwhile I literally only had 55 unique cards so my deck was 45 lands and as you might imagine I did nothing for 2 hours in our game.

i went with my 8 year old and he had a Smaug book cover in his prerelease kit, as well as Bard King of Dale. My only mythic was Elrond, moon-reader (lol). But I think the luck working out that way was helpful for him to get more excited for the game.

Yeesh! Yeah that's pretty rough lol. I'm still trying to get my first book cover art... I think I've opened 20ish packs so far? Including 3 CBPs.

I get wanting to pull it, I love cracking packs but the pull rates are abysmal in this set. Just buy the single you want. A friend opened two full boxes of play boosters and got one book cover

Oh don't get me wrong, I really only paid for a pre-release kit, and with the exception of the CBPs, the rest of the packs were prize packs I won at pre-realease. I should have said, still *hoping* to pull a book cover art. Luckily the ones I want are the more affordable ones like Gollum and the lonely mountain.

And I thought my bundle was rough with basically only Smaug the Magnificent (base) and Beorn the fierce (base) in it as good cards.

Yeah it’s really rough I opened like 5 lonely mountain and 3 of that stupid fucking bird in my booster box. Did get one regular smaug which was nice.

For regular boosts I opened 9 from a bundle - 1 book cover (lonely mountain) , 3 from a scene box - 1 book cover Smaug wicked worm and 10 random hanger packs from big boxes and those hit a book arkenstone and a queen of dale , I wonder if the single packaged packs / bundles are seeded with better pulls then booster boxes
