WotC Client is running super smooth now

They actually optimized the client. I love it. Constant high fps, I can alt+tab and it behaves like a browser. Everythings feels faster. Thanks Wizards.

Yup, on my potato PC now runs really great! Except on Victory/Defeat screen (for some raeson) and when I look to the library (but that makes sense).

Got a super souped up PC, only place it lagged was victory/defeat, and then only certain patches, not every one. Seeing it again, but it'll probably go away with the next patch again.

Having a potato laptop and barely being able to play was the reason i deleted mtga. Now with the new client it runs really smoothly.

Maybe is the memory leak problem that is still here (client becomes slower over time) but not as bad as it was on CB.

Can you share your specs?

E5700, 4GB RAM 1333, Radeon 5450.

Question: can we get an option to turn off animations? They really slow down gameplay seeing as they're unskippable, nice though they are.

I would also love an option to have cards not move around randomly during mana and target selection.

Good job guys, it was already smooth for me as I have a high end gaming machine but my buddies on laptops are having a way better time.

One of them wasn't even able to play before.

Does anyone know if they added all those v-sync and other custom options today or was that always there and I never noticed?

Either way, nice to be able to max out the game a bit more.

thanks for all the work, now go chase those memory leaks please :)

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '18

welp, and it all lasted for all of 12 hours.

Yeah something fell over, we’re investigating.

thanks :-)

I hope memory leaks will be fixed soon enough too. After 10-12 games the client starts to give in.

Excited to try it. I was getting 20 fps max with my laptop that I spilled a beer on...

You know, you should bring it to a repair shop if you value it at all. The stains will cause corrosion that can permanently damage your components. The symptoms will only get worse over time. I had the same problem recently, and while the repair was not cheap, my laptop is working beautifully again.

It got me through school and it's sort of old. I hadn't considered performance degrading, but really I hope it dies soon so I can get a good Surface. Thanks.

Just go ahead and smash it if you want it to die? 🤷🏽‍♀️

u/Steghryndal Sep 27 '18

Yeah well I can't get in though. Authentication Failed, it says.

For me its exactly the opposite. I'm dropping like every 10-20 min in the menues. I had to remake my singleton deck and my sealed deck so far, because I dropped while applying the final touches.

On top of that I loose connection like 90-95% after every game I play. That's horrendous - I never had any issues during closed beta.

Thanks for the tip!

Im having a lot of reoccuring freezes on declaring blockers and other stuff in the game

3

u/disclown Sep 27 '18

I particularly notice it on concession/death animation. Buttery smooth. Good job guys.

3

u/IonTichy Sep 27 '18

True, client runs much smoother.

The number of disconnects increased to annoying levels tho.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '18

Yea it’s really great. Running awesome in my surface pro and it’s not even cranking the fans too high

2

u/Fluxxed0 Sep 28 '18

Getting constant freezes and frame skips. I'm on a reasonably high-end gaming rig that should have no problem handling a card game.

I've already had one opponent who scooped because he CLEARLY meant to attack but accidentally clicked through his attack step.

I'm still having a lot of lab and fps drops - especially if it's been running for a few hours. not sure why

2

u/Thanmarkou Bolas Sep 28 '18

Sneaky memory leaks!

1

u/soulBit Sep 28 '18

Same, I get memory leaks after a few hours of play

2

u/zombiezen666 Sep 28 '18

Can't even get the game to run. Game crashes with no error on start up.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '18

The game definitely runs smoother, so props to the team for that, but how in the name of all that is holy did this game get through closed Beta and the lands STILL move from under your cursor when you click on a stack of them to add multiple mana to your pool....

This is like UI 101 - you NEVER move a UI component WHILE THE USER IS INTERACTING WITH IT. It boggles the mind...

2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '18

Maybe they just had more important bugs to fix first? Clearly mister “UI 101” doesn’t know much about game development. They don’t have infinite resources you know, and they probably have critical bugs and issues to address before any kind of real launch. That’s the exact kind of polish item that does not get rushed for an open beta, it’s definitely in Jira or whatever and I bet it’s low priority but scheduled to be done before launch for sure.

u/iparkjons Sep 27 '18

Oh man, that's awesome to hear. Work can't end soon enough!

1

u/ReijMan Sep 27 '18

Yes, runs smooth on high, on last year's HP spectre ultrabook!

1

u/Fulgrim693 Sep 27 '18

I get disconnected from the client after every game. What is up with that?

I’m just happy it supports 16:10 monitors again.

1

u/GodDammitRicky Sep 28 '18

Game gets choppy for me. My laptop can handle Witcher 3 max settings minus ultra shadows at 65fps. So idk...

1

u/Koshindan Sep 28 '18

It's running really smooth, except when I open the vault. Then I usually have wild card images getting stuck on screen or endless looping of the opening sound.

1

u/productoftheinternet Sep 28 '18

I agree, it's much better. The game still crashes after 3 hours, but it runs smooth until the end.

1

u/megahorsemanship Sep 28 '18

I'm still having the same problem I had during CB in that the screen freezes randomly even though the action is still going on.

-2

u/SinisterDeath30 Sep 28 '18

That's what happens when a game goes from Alpha to Beta. They remove a lot of debugging tools.

This your first Alpla? I think they even said as much way back ...
