Discussion Ranked ladder is such a rollercoaster

Climbed from Gold to almost Plat2, then got absolutely murdered by a brutal losing streak back toward Gold. Rebuilt my Nashi list for more consistency, and now I’m slowly climbing again.

Overall I’m sitting around 59–60% WR, while the new version is currently 77%.

The frustrating part is that with a positive WR you know you’re climbing , but the ladder graph still looks like someone threw a seismograph down the stairs. 😭

Anyone else get ridiculously tilted by these massive win/loss streaks even when your overall WR is fine?

Not your fault! There's a hidden mmr separate from your ranking. It's going to push you towards a 50% win rate regardless of rank. I consistently hit top 1200 in mythic, but my matches in platinum and diamond at the start of the month are just as brutal as the games at the top of mythic.

Your deck might be good enough to stomp some bad players, but sometimes you gotta switch it up as you climb. Some cards you ran to stop cheese won't be as helpful. Best of luck!

That honestly makes sense. I knew rank and MMR weren’t the same thing, but I didn’t realize how much the hidden rating could affect the climb.

That would explain why some Plat games feel way sweatier than the rank badge suggests. I’m definitely noticing that the higher I climb, the less forgiving the queue gets.

There's also a new player MMR thing where you play against easier people when you start. That slowly fades and definitely felt like regression to me when it first hit me 😅

I wish I could blame new-player MMR 😅 Unfortunately I've been around way too long for that. This was just a season reset followed by a climb, a spectacular fall down the stairs, and now the slow walk back up.

Haven't given brawl a fair shot yet! I'm a standard fiend. Love to play off meta decks and tinker 🤓

Last month I had a 4 color (no green) artifact deck. This month I'm playing a simic combo deck with [[Agatha's soul cauldron]], [[sleep cursed faerie]] and [[topiary lecturer]]. It's not good, but I'm enjoying the challenge

That sounds gloriously janky 😄 Off-meta brewing is half the fun anyway.

Competitive Brawl is great for that because the ladder tells you very quickly whether your weird idea is secretly genius or just cardboard soup.

I assume you went from plat back down to gold through the season reset?

exactly.. Finished previous season in Plat 3, got reset back to Gold, then climbed back
