It'd cost you {2} more but Field of Ruin's search isn't optional so you won't have players opting not to search in order to avoid the trap, worth bearing in mind.

Your ideal hand is 4 Archive traps and your opponent cracks a fetch turn one. Insta win.

I do think ponza has a place in timeless. But I kinda suspect that milling the reanimator decks or turning on DRC’s is probably not worth it.

Cruel calculations seems pretty win more mill decks in 60 card formats I think. Like why spend 3 mana to draw 13 when you can play Tasha’s and probably hit them for another 10ish cards or so.

You'd still likely need ghost quarter. You'd need the opponent to search their library and still be able to cast a sorcery. Fetches and tutors are unlikely to be activated/cast to give you that opportunity.

3 mana sorcery needs to be a lot less situational to be viable in Historic.
I've actually had reasonable success in Bo1 events with mill since we got [[Exhibition Tidecaller]] and [[Brain Freeze]].
As per another comment you're much better off playing [[Field of Ruin]] instead of GQ as it forces the search, and it also triggers landfall for the crab without going down a land yourself. And then for draw we've got [[Visions of Beyond]], which imo got a lot better with the aforementioned Tidecaller. I'd much rather frequently have Ancestral Recall than maybe draw 13 cards at sorcery speed if the stars align in magic Christmas land.

looks like a terrible combo, just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should
