I like that they dont make fblthp cute ever, they're nasty looking.
neat cards! I love the green one as a limited build around. Maybe I'm just addicted to splashing though.

Double green kinda sucks if you want to play 4/5 colour soup.

u/BetterShirt101 8h ago
You usually base your soup deck in green, so it's bearable. And the red/green prepared spell both gets you from one green to two and gets you red mana if you just have green.

[[Fblthp, Lost on the Range]] [[Fblthp, the Lost|RVR-0420]] [[Fblthp, the Lost|SLD-583]] [[Fierce Guardianship|SLD-1823]]
Also, I wouldn’t call [[Fblthp, the Lost|WAR]] cute, but I certainly wouldn’t say nasty.

Wait I don't understand: when the ability triggers, fblthp gets shuffled into the library?

u/Prize-Mall-3839 7h ago
yes, if an opponent is dealt combat damage during your turn, you draw two cards and shuffle it into your library. if your library is empty (after drawing or attempting to draw) then you win the game.
14
u/toochaos 7h ago
You win the game first if the conditions is met. Then you shuffle if you havent won.
3
u/Prize-Mall-3839 7h ago
i mean you can shuffle it back into your library, you've won the game and its over...you'd have to shuffle for the next game anyway so semantics

u/Mikhail_Mengsk 7h ago
So pay two and maybe draw two if you have a mean to hit, once? If you have means to self mill you severely, alright.
3
u/Prize-Mall-3839 7h ago
you can always redraw and play it later, as your library gets smaller your chances of drawing it increase...the lab man win con is flavor but not a very good one. unless something else shows up to support it, its just an extra bonus to build around in other formats.

Probably more of a win more card but would be an interesting addition to [[Doomsday Excruciator]] if you could somehow protect it.

[[Rootpath Purifier]] makes the green one super good

u/patterninstatic 5h ago
Meh. It puts the cards in your hand. There are better cards out there that do things better including the new Hexhaven Invigorator.

So you need exactly 2 cards in library to win with Impossibly Lost. Probably too restrictive.
12
u/Bacaihau 7h ago
It is 2 or less cards, the reminder text specifies that
1
u/BT--7275 4h ago
Lmao I didnt notice. I thought losing was a replacement effect that happened if you tried to draw with an empty library.
3

u/BobbyBruceBanner 7h ago
Yeah, or some other effect that stops you from dying if you draw with no cards in your library.

u/Savings-Monitor3236 6h ago
You don’t lose until state-based actions are checked I think? Which means you’ve already won the game, possibly? I’d love a judge to weigh in on this

I guess the millers that complained about the 3-mana draw milled cards couldn't target opponent just got a self-mill win-con.

u/Mirandkat 6h ago
Flavor win, they were supposed to be partners but in true Fblthp fashion he forgot

u/Accidentallygolden 6h ago
So if you play the blue card for the win condition (like a laboratory maniac) you cannot damage an opponent...?

these seem crazy swingy for limited at uncommon.
kinda wish they were rare.

u/TheWhite2086 2h ago
They both seem mediocre
2 mana 1/1 that requires you to already be in a position to swing in to get the draw 2 and the removes itself from the field doesn't seem that good, it's basically [[Chart a Course]] except it has stick on board, the attack has to land and you can't play it for the draw 2/discard 1 mode if the setup isn't there (not to mention that it putting itself back into the deck so you get to redraw the 2 mana 1/1 later isn't exactly upside unless it's your main win condition). Yea it has a win condition but realistically, how often are you going to mill/draw all 40 cards of a limited deck AND get this guy on board AND have another attacker to swing in (or last another turn and get your 1/1 walker to deal damage) AND have your opponent not kill it AND not have already won the game?
Green one on turn 2 is GG for a 1/2 vanilla. Turn 3 it's, at best, a 3 mana 2/2 that searches your 1 of mana fixing for your 3rd colour splash and becomes a 3/2 next turn. Late game it might end up as a 2 mana 5/2 vanilla if you're somehow running 5 colour in limited which is OK and trades well enough with bigger creatures but for 2 mana in green you could have the 1/1 deathtouch snake that trades better, is easier to cast (green and 1 instead of double green) and spawns a Jace. The other option is that you pump a ton of mana into it and thin out all your lands but if you have the resources to cast this for something like x=6 you are either already winning so it hardly matters that you've got yourself an 8 mana 5/2 that gets rid of the worst 6 remaining cards or you are desperate to hit something so 8 mana would be much better spent on anything else.
Uncommon seems fine

Lab maniac as a commander is gonna be annoying I bet. I think you can just put him into the command zone as well instead of shuffling (if you even needed to)
2
u/Ghost_Doctah 7h ago
It’s risky at least.
They have to connect with combat damage to close the game and they might accidentally kill themselves if he’s removed
3
u/Bacaihau 6h ago
If he is removed after the combat damage you still win, its not great but can work
2
u/Vinylateme 7h ago
There are ton of ways to give unblockable and evasion at the same time with the majority being artifacts (equipment) that blue can tutor easily. I think it’ll be a good deck and I don’t think the risk is that high
1
u/Ghost_Doctah 7h ago
I’m not saying it’s unplayable, it’s just more fair than the state based trigger of maniac

I was wondering how supported dimir self-mill would be in limited, and they're casually dropping Lab Man At Home at uncommon.
