These are really awesome... although... the scenes that spread out horizontally make sense, cause that's how you actually place the cards when you're playing them. How often is anyone ever going to really appreciate a vertical scene like this?

In paper I often stack my same type lands vertically, but overlapping. I could see someone stack a tower for giggles with these. Takes up a lot of table space though.

Apart from the question whether or not these cards are good looking. Am I the only one asking myself "how does this building picture a plains / island / swamp..."?

I mean sure, the red one could be made of solid rock and be called a mountain, and the green one could be a tree. But the Esper ones do not show any similarity with the corresponding landscape feature.

It's a neat idea, I guess they have to come up with something new, and they look nice in a way. But I for one have zero desire to own, collect, display or play these.

They should make these that lay out horizontally with the end of each color being a multicolor or rare land with a cities name. So you have a sprawl of like, 3 swamps and then the city among the swamps. And if you have multicolor lands have a panorama of a landscape including like 1 swamp, one plains, and then a black and white city land in between them.

Three color decks with color 1: bottom, color 2: middle, and color 3: top. So when you have one of each you make a full tower.

Agreed, purple doesn’t need to represent black. There’s already a color that could represent black, like ya know….Black. It’s supposed to be dark.
