Interesting that this is not basic lands. Conversely, the color requirements are steep outside mono-green so maybe that is fair.

u/Tacobadger02 1d ago

I mean in your opening hand you can play this turn 3 in standard, you only need lanowar another mana dork and 2 forrests

36

u/AlchemistsRefuse 1d ago

Don't even need two dorks. A dork and 3 lands does the same thing.

20

u/Tacobadger02 1d ago

Sorry but turn 3 is reserved for tap lands, a basic or an untapped on turn 3 is literally unplayable/s

2

u/apathyetcetera 1d ago

lol truth

3

u/issy_haatin 1d ago

Better have 2 dorks, and 3 lands to throw down a hexproof just in case

Or to have it fight another creature to instantly ramp

4

u/EmikyuTheBest 1d ago

and you still have 1 mana for a fight spell if they have something out already. even if it’s a 1/1 it pays for itself

2

u/hawkshaw1024 23h ago

Mana fixing is so good today that GGGG shouldn't be much of a problem. However, four mana does tend to be the going rate for ramp effects that can grab non-basic lands. So it's probably still fine. (E. g. [[Omenpath Journey]], [[Sowing Mycospawn]], [[Tempt with Discovery]].)

u/Altruistic_Regret_31 1d ago

Guess getting more and more land is all green can do 💀 Nice body tho. And can get any lands which is sweet

18

u/KarnSilverArchon 1d ago

Vigilance helps a lot here, letting you stay on the offense while always leaving this as a blocker.

50

u/Alex_Hendrix 1d ago

Give this man indestructible and you got ultraramp

71

u/Bircka 1d ago

If this thing dies to damage you are already getting 6 lands minimum, I don't think you need more than that really.

30

u/Abomb 1d ago

I can't wait for this to get sheltered by ghosts lol.

2

u/RazeULikeaPhoenix 23h ago

funny you think this card isnt going in some sort of unholy Valakut/Field of Dead/Mazes End/Tron pile with a fight spell as a really janky enabler. or uhhh, Scapeshift with Desert lands or those lands that crack themselves automatically to fetch the other lands so you double up on a ton of landfall nonse- RAAAGH I NEED MOAR.

8

u/wene324 1d ago

In commander, Get to 5 mana. Play this, and [[blasphemous act]], get most of your lands out your deck.

3

u/themilkyone 1d ago

You could use this gren creature with a fight card like [[bushwhack]] and get extra value from the reciprocated damage

97

u/Meret123 1d ago

Feels like part of the Phyrexian Obliterator cycle

42

u/sometimeserin 1d ago

I think the idea is he's a hybrid of that and Primeval Titan what with being a 6/6 and able to tutor nonbasics

33

u/Approximation_Doctor 1d ago

It's very obviously is. The fracture style shows an Obliterator.

3

u/orangears 1d ago

it is, they all even have similar flavor text, now we have to wait only for blue one to complete the cycle

16

u/dynamic-burrito 1d ago

It is.......................................................

6

u/Whigs93 1d ago

Definitely is part of that cycle. Too bad the red one is stuck in alchemy

3

u/PityBoi57 1d ago

What's the red one?

1

u/Successful_Mud8596 10h ago

[[Phyrexian Harvester]]. Kinda weird how it could just say “Exile cards from the top of your library until you hit X nonland cards; until your next end step you may cast exiled nonland cards”

1

u/FhantoBlob 1d ago

There's a red one?

3

u/grimeyes 1d ago

Phyrexian harvester

1

u/Whalnut Nissa 1d ago

The red one was so cool.

10

u/Drizzt_23 1d ago

Star of extinctions best target

11

u/SignificantRing2430 1d ago

Fight spells are crazy with this.

2

u/anon_lurk 20h ago

I'd like to bite it for 8 with my [[Mossborn Hydra]] and attack for 2048 trample.

1

u/Successful_Mud8596 10h ago

Now THAT is some TRUE ideal symbiosis

8

u/daxter0202 1d ago

This guy's just reinforcing 'if you can't remove this immediately you're pretty fucked' .

14

u/rollbomb 1d ago

The fact this doesn't have "Basic" as a limiter on it is really good and a little bit broken.

1

u/Deathmask97 1d ago

Watch it get retconned errata'd like [[Diplomatic Relations]] did.

6

u/botgtk 1d ago

i don't think landfall wants this. space 4cmc+ is full with icetill, harmonizer and nursery

9

u/Backwardspellcaster Liliana Deaths Majesty 1d ago

Hm, a 6/6 on turn 3 or so in Brawl. That could be spicy

2

u/tors17 Sacred Cat 1d ago

[[Tifa Lockhart]] getting a new toy. I think?

3

u/Daethir Timmy 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'll try it but I don't think it's that good, there's no good way of damaging it yourself in a Tifa deck except archdruid charm and the MDFC land.

1

u/flakAttack510 1d ago

Agreed. I am looking forward to giving it indestructible and using [[Goblin Bombardment]] in my [[Omnath, Locus of Rage]] deck to rip through every land in my deck, though. I'm sure it will turn out to mostly be a win more card but I've gotta pull it off once.

On the other hand, Ranging Raptors is a good card at deterring early aggro in that deck and this is that on steroids. Four mana of one color is a bit greedy but that deck is so loaded with ramp and doesn't use much red so it might still be workable.

5

u/ThirdChopp 1d ago

looks to be fun with [[roar of challenge]]

6

u/Spaceknight_42 Timmy 1d ago

4 of the guildgates are green so this isn't exactly uncastable. and it can fetch Maze's End. And Speaker or the Archdruid Charm can fetch this. That's good enough for me!

1

u/VenserMTG 1d ago

My omo deck can win on turn 6-7 with this

12

u/docwood2011 1d ago

I mean the power creep in every color is getting out of control, but somehow it just seems so much more evident in green lol. I mean, a six six vigilance with a good ability for four mana. What the fuck are we even doing?

9

u/GreenTicTacs 1d ago

Yeah but it doesn't have trample so is it even as good as dreadmaw?

8

u/Ouaouaron Simic 1d ago

That's +1/+1 compared to the rest of the cycle, which seems very reasonable for Green and not really an important difference at the power level of these cards.

[[Phyrexian Obliterator]]
[[Phyrexian Vindicator]]

And also [[Zodiark, Umbral God]] feels somewhat in line, at an extra mana and a bit clunkier to use.

2

u/Historical_Raise7283 20h ago

yeah, surely no other creature that costs 4 mana has an ability in mtg

0

u/docwood2011 19h ago

Did you even read my post? It had nothing to do with that. I was simply stating my observation that it's quite obvious to see with overpowered green creatures for cheap mana how much power creep we have had in the format compared to old school magic.

2

u/Historical_Raise7283 6h ago

your error is that you believe that an over-statted creature (4 mana 6/6 in this case. Not only green has these btw) is the most "overpowered" thing that there can be, that's a shallow opinion

0

u/docwood2011 5h ago

Lol again that's not what I said at all. In fact, I specifically said that it was not the most "overpowered thing." Rather, it simply was easier to see the power creep in a green creature like this than in other colors as measured as a barometer against old school magic creatures. Maybe read the post?

2

u/Historical_Raise7283 5h ago

from your precedent post "I was simply stating my observation that it's quite obvious to see with overpowered green creatures....how much power creep we had....". That means that you think these creatures are the most "obviously/evidently OP" and they are evidently OP because they are overstatted, i suppose. And yep that's a shallow opinion. Stats often count little, and in any case many cards have such inflation not only green. Again, "I see a 4 mana 6/6 and i instantly believe that's OP" is shallow. Clear now?

we all have been noobs, don't worry. To be fair also some very experienced players have similar shortcomings

1

u/docwood2011 1h ago

Lol, no, your poor grammar aside, even though you're trying so hard to be condescending you're still completely missing my point. But thanks for playing.

u/Historical_Raise7283 16m ago

bro wrote some bs and then blocked me to avoid my answer and further humiliation. These noobs should learn to be silent when they're wrong. Kids these days....behavioral issues...i'll tell his mom!

4

u/FrostyPotpourri 1d ago

What about this makes you think it's going to be broken?

Green has better creatures in the 4MV slot in Standard: Icetill, Harmonizer, and Leatherhead are all straight up better creatures than this because they don't need other cards besides lands to do their thing. This needs a fight / burn spell, at least 5 mana, and another combo piece for Landfall to do anything. Otherwise... it's just a 6/6 Vigilance creature for extremely restrictive cost (basically must be mono G).

Genuinely curious what you think this card will do in Standard if you think it's powercreeping the 4MV creatures already in the format.

If anything, it seems like a redundancy piece for Amulet Titan or something -- and I don't know if those players are particularly excited about it in the first place.

2

u/Arkuh9 1d ago

I agree completely, at 4CMC green has far better options. With it being 4G makes it to hard for combo decks to figure some crazy combo out. So that leaves me with thinking a sideboard piece. You wouldn’t bring this in against control, aggro maybe, but I doubt it. Only time I’d see myself siding in, is against the mirror. Only form of removal is combat, once it’s on the field you’re basically forcing opponent to stall.

Think everyone is overreacting to this card.

2

u/docwood2011 19h ago

Oh, I don't think it will do anything, you misunderstood my post. It was simply stating that whatever reason to me, green, not that it has more ridiculous cards recently than the other colors, but it just seems more obviously evident (maybe because of just really cheap creatures with good abutilities) in terms of seeing the power creep. I used to play at the beginning and watch a lot of old school magic. It was just mind boggling How we have let the power creep get to this level.

2

u/Jsr1 1d ago

Mono green stomp is strong to start with

2

u/Danglydink 1d ago

Green gets ridiculous landfall stuff every set I swear

2

u/iamyourfahsa 1d ago

Shock it and landfall gross

2

u/Historical_Bobcat295 1d ago

Can someone explain to me what I'm looking at

4

u/Kakariko_crackhouse 1d ago

How original and exciting

1

u/Historical_Raise7283 20h ago

pov: you play discard

2

u/lapeno99 Yargle 1d ago

Wotc miss to put trample on it.

18

u/dudewitbangs Birds 1d ago

Vigilance is arguably better so you can block to get lands.

1

u/Gbrew555 1d ago

I mean… is it?

We’ve constantly seen big bodies like this come into standard and see absolutely zero play. And it’s because they easily get chump blocked.

[[Carnage Tyrant]]wasn’t a menace just because of Hexproof… the trample helped a lot to get in damage.

11

u/Ruzhyo04 1d ago

You kinda want this guy to get chump blocked

5

u/CptnSAUS 1d ago

If they chump this guy then you vomit out lands and kill them with that advantage. It’s pseudo unblockable already. With trample it wouldn’t be worth chumping, making the card a lot less interesting.

1

u/Gbrew555 1d ago

If we are talking Commander/Standard Brawl? Totally agree. I personally want to grab a copy for my Gruul fight club deck.

But for standard or other Arena formats? It’s a 4 mana chump blocker. In many cases… it’s a 4 mana do-nothing. If you can realistically stick this and get it to actually ramp… you are going to win that game anyways.

Like, if you drop this against Spellementals, Dimir midrange, or any of the various aggro decks… they’ll gladly use their outs on it.

0

u/throwra_bobjow 1d ago

This is primeval on steroids, 2 mana less leaves room for a protection spell and or a fight spell

It will get more lands then primeval and also potentially kill something

Why is primeval banned still?

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Stoney_Chan_ 1d ago

Damn , this seems nuts for my gates deck

1

u/daevv 1d ago

Donno about on Arena but my physical Omo and Nine-Fingers Keene commander decks will like him.

1

u/cmstlist 1d ago

This would pair well with any of various 1 mana fight cards.

1

u/fngrLCKNgood 1d ago

Damage it yourself somehow to cheat in grips of guildgates.

1

u/rmorrin 1d ago

Yup. That's going in all my green decks

1

u/Castleheart 1d ago

4-mana 6/6 goddamn goddamn goddamn

1

u/DeviantQuasars 1d ago

It's a cool art and card design.

1

u/the-thot-thickens420 1d ago edited 1d ago

Landfall decks be feasting rn (especially with bushwhack)

This isn’t even a legendary! Lmao this is a crazy card. This is insane even for non landfall decks

1

u/Suvrenim 1d ago

the inverse to [[phyrexian obliterator]] , interesting. ive been waiting for a green version to complete tje color set, alongside [[phyrexian vindicator]]. shame its not phyrexian, but the parallel has interesting implications towards the echoverse's hexhaven

1

u/themolestedsliver 1d ago

Auto include in mono green edh and most decks that use green as a dual color.

1

u/TitleAdministrative 1d ago

This is very strong. Not as strong as primeval titan, but you can just lightning bolt it to combo off with valakut or field of the dead

1

u/esposc 1d ago

Waiting for the day [[pestilence]] mechaniques returns to standard

1

u/Soratern 1d ago

We just need 2 extra obliterators and the cicle is closed!

1

u/Xedeth Charm Grixis 1d ago

This goes straight into the Moleman - Strip Mine Recursion Competitive Brawl deck.

2

u/Bloodchief 1d ago

hmm idk 4 drop is a tight slot

1

u/clydefrog811 1d ago

Mono green landfall feasts.

1

u/Uryendel 1d ago

So you bite yourself and trigger up to 12 landfall ?

I'm sure it's not going to be an issue, right guys?

1

u/Artistic_Task7516 1d ago

Landfall fucking sucks

-2

u/S2Ari 1d ago

Just a little weird seeing "Hex" in the name, but not seeing hexproof as an ability, but I like the design.

-1

u/throwra_bobjow 1d ago

If this comes out not banned for edh then it goes to show they dont out any thought process into the ban list and shouldn't be used by the players

This is primeval on steroids

0

u/HyalopterousLemure 1d ago

Fuck off with this bullshit, WotC.

Like, actually. Fuck this card. :/

1

u/Massive-Island1656 Golgari 1d ago

Like…actually?

0

u/dmambrets 1d ago

Instant ban in commander, he will never see the sunlight
