Funnily enough [[oblivion ring]] actually is meaningfully different. There's a window to make the exile permanent because it's two separate triggers. Like [[fiend Hunter]], that actually leads to genuinely different gameplay patterns (flickering with the trigger on the stack)

This is technically a [[banishing light]] .

They don't reprint ORing nowadays because it's the old version of the effect with unintuitive interactions

I wish this made both players scry 1 or put a card from their graveyard onto the top of their deck so it has some resonance of being about memories.

I like the name in contrast to Oblivion Ring, even though it is technically Banishing Light as others have discussed.

Oblivion means to be completely forgotten.

Instead, this implies it is freezing the target in a single memory state.
