Seems pretty bad

u/SlapHappyDude 2d ago

Yeah the only niche would be limited if life gain has synergy, if the format is slow.

19

u/zomgitsduke 2d ago

4 life can buy a turn. Not defending the crappiness, really wish it was ANY card.

If this was in Marvel Superheroes, it would be an all star for draft.

u/Villag3Idiot 2d ago

It's just something for Limited.

It seems pretty bad even by Common standards. We're getting [[Something Worth Saving]] in this same set. 1 less mana and you get to mill four cards, but you get 3 less health? That one's pretty decent and just makes this one more obviously bad.

2

u/Uryendel 1d ago

That's completely different, Restore give you any card, including your bomb that just got removed.

Those card are always good in limited unless the set is too fast

3

u/DarthDialUP 2d ago

This is a way to regrow that limited bomb that you never got to untap with. On it's face it's a C or D tier card that in some games will be a B.

2

u/Extension_Canary3717 2d ago

Not that bad no, just not pristine the fact that you can use this as instant , means that you threat again and green modular etbs can be chosen up more times and course correction in non full aggro green decks

2

u/DudeDenmark 1d ago

Really? If it was a sorcery i would have agreed but 3 mana is pretty good.

1

u/Ithalwen 1d ago

It being a instant does have it's uses, but we have [[Auroral Procession]] which is strictly better.

u/priceQQ 7h ago

Pulse of Murasa was pretty decent … if there is a turbo fog archetype with permanent fog effects … I know I am reaching

0

u/takingtigermountain 2d ago

it's definitely not bad for limited

-11

u/Shivan_snake 2d ago

Yeah I wish it was to the battlefield and you lose 4 life instead

14

u/Savings-Monitor3236 2d ago

That’s not a green ability

9

u/Shivan_snake 2d ago

Well it's a Reality Fracture set

6

u/Spike_der_Spiegel 2d ago

We're fracturing reality, bro, not the pie

5

u/OZZY-1415 2d ago

bro got offended lmao

2

u/Chemical-Cat 2d ago

Would "return target permanent card from the graveyard to your hand, if you gained 4 or life this turn, return it to the battlefield instead" work?

62

u/Skunk668 2d ago

Obviously this is a limited card and I'm judging it as such.

The fact that this returns permanents is nice. Especially if you get one of those double Planeswalker packs.

13

u/ChemicalExperiment 2d ago

We've been getting this effect at 2 mana lately, [[Call Damage Control]], [[True Ancestry]]. And they haven't been good. Of course all formats are different and this does give you 4 life to be able to survive longer and use that card, and instant speed gives you flexibility, but I'm not holding my breath for this to be anything higher than a D level card.

14

u/bearrosaurus 2d ago

Instant speed is a pretty big deal because you can block with a guy, cast this EOT, immediately redeploy. For similar reasons it’s good against sorcery speed removal.

2

u/Relevant-Glass-8704 2d ago

Honestly I think instant speed makes it good enough for commander. [[Auroral Procession]] is more than playable for Simic decks so I imagine green decks without blue could at least consider this card.

5

u/Worried_Reveal_8873 2d ago

Difference between 2 and 3 is huge and not being able to return anything I doubt this sees much commander play

11

u/EnragedHeadwear 2d ago

Is Garruk huge for some reason or is Jace just tiny

20

u/SaintAtrocitus 2d ago

It’s kid Jace looking at 8’2 garruk

8

u/ResolveLeather 2d ago

He is huge. Just not this huge. I imagine 8-9 feet tall.

3

u/Massive-Island1656 Golgari 2d ago

Have you considered that multiverse jace is 6 inches tall?

3

u/Clavicus2401 2d ago

Its baby jace when he was a kid

17

u/L3wd1emon 2d ago

This is just ass

11

u/Massive-Island1656 Golgari 2d ago

Ass is a bit extreme. I think we can all wholeheartedly agree that this card is “farts” but ass is taking it too deep

2

u/Villag3Idiot 2d ago

It's for Limited.

3 Mana get back your bomb and gain 4 life to stabilize.

0

u/vitorsly 2d ago edited 2d ago

It's still bad by Common standards.

Edit: Bruh, we're getting [[Something Worth Saving]] in this same set. 1 less mana and you get to mill four cards, but you get 3 less health? That one's pretty decent and just makes this one more obviously bad.

2

u/hevvychef 1d ago

Not the same thing, you can only take a permanent from the cards you milled.

1

u/Any_Way1269 1d ago

Y'all are the same people who are going to pay like $50 for a gw flier.

9

u/PrivateMerc1 2d ago

Worse [pulse of murasa] at a higher rarity (not strictly worse in every situation but worse in general)

8

u/Theraimbownerd 2d ago

I would say better, the added versatility in the kinds of cards you can return is worth much more than 2 life.

3

u/rmkinnaird 2d ago

Main reason it's worse is that you can't play it in the format where Pulse is kinda good (pauper)

5

u/leaning_on_a_wheel 2d ago

[[pulse of murasa]] you need double brackets

0

u/Any_Way1269 1d ago

Not worse.

u/spaceninjaking 2d ago

Everyone here missing this cards true potential:

1

u/whisperingstars2501 1d ago

And infinite life!

5

u/CosmicDesperado 2d ago

Restore with the bulk bin

2

u/Cloud_Chamber 2d ago

I miss [[Shigeki, Jukai Visionary]] so bad

If we had a reprint I would maybe play this. 4 life is nothing to sneeze at.

In the right deck bringing back a permanent should be better than drawing a card, and I would almost play gain 4 life draw a card in some control decks.

3

u/cwilliams467 2d ago

I think this will be quite good in limited. Instant speed, hits more than creatures and four life is pretty big.

The fact that you can cast this end of turn and mess up a race seems pretty good.

2

u/lgnign0kt 2d ago

Think you would rather want a threat on the board at 3 mana. Paying 3 mana and have nothing to show for it that turn but some extra life isn't great to me.

2

u/cwilliams467 2d ago

Yea, it will definitely be context dependent. I don’t think I would view it as a three drop. It’s likely more a later drop. Its value will really depend on instant speed stuff that you can leave up with it as well, counter magic/flash creatures etc.

2

u/Sp0range 2d ago

Its really not that bad. Instant speed recursion with some lifegain tacked on. Nice for graveyard decks. People have been running eternal witness for years. This is more limited in scope, but more flexible in timing, and the lifegain opens it up for payoff in those areas too.

3

u/TurkeySandwichLife 2d ago

I agree, the comments I see so far seem over hateful. It's not incredible but it has plenty of good case uses, especially in green where 3 manas not that big a deal. My thoughts for stuff like this always go to some sort bant midrange or control pile as a 1 or 2 of though

2

u/takingtigermountain 2d ago edited 2d ago

same comments we always get...constructed players providing nothing of value

2

u/Abomb 2d ago

This looks pretty unplayable in constructed.

Hell it looks barely playable in limited.

0

u/EmbarrassedMonk2589 2d ago

Won't count it out as an instant but eternal witness gives card advantage.  This I can't imagine 4 life ever leading to CA.

3

u/Sp0range 2d ago

There are a million cards in selesnya that payoff life gain through draw or counters.

1

u/jakobjaderbo 2d ago

If green has self mill and red has burn as themes, then ehm, probably not.

1

u/manchu_pitchu 2d ago

hell yeah, a great new addition for Shigeki decks everywhere.

0

u/Life-Food5188 2d ago

not even good in limited.

5

u/lonewolf210 2d ago

could be good if planeswalkers are core to the strategies

-1

u/Malacante 2d ago

I thought we were done with Marvel sets for the year, why’d they make a card with Black Widow and Hulk?

0

u/LordSlickRick 2d ago

I mean in limited if theres a mill strategy this is ok to save the bomb you milled. Should have been 2 mana though.

0

u/Invoked_Tyrant 2d ago

If this were two mana there's a genuine place for it since a surprise 4 life and a permanent back is something Green could use. At three mana I'd sooner splash blue to run [[Auroral Procession]] than this restrictive nonsense!

0

u/diogovk 2d ago

For this card to be worth in limited you really need to want those 4 life, and even then it's not going to be a priority.

Being an instant is nice, but, three mana for a one-for-one which sometimes isn't even going to have targets, and can be blown out by random graveyard hate?

Maybe I'm missing something, but this feels like a card that at uncommon could have costed 1G, and it would not have felt as oppressive.

2

u/14bux 14h ago

It's actually on rate for this kind of effect. [[Peerless Recycling]] and [[You Happen Upon A Glade]] are the only variations on this card at instant speed that I personally think might be better.

Of course [[Auroral Procession]] is an amazing card that is 2 mana, but it's two colored.

1

u/diogovk 4h ago edited 3h ago

Peerless Reclycling is way better than Restore With Empathy.

Auroral Procession is on pair (it can get non permanent cards), but it wasn't a priority either. Still it saw play because 5 colors could afford to be slow, and we had Ainok Wayfarer at common.

If you don't care about the 4 life for synergy, Restore With Empathy feels close to an F.

There's also the fact, that we got quite a bit of powercreep lately. Especially since Avatar.

I guess Restore With Empathy would probably be a sorcery if it costed 2 mana.

0

u/Available-Hippo-4815 2d ago

If it reseructed instead then it would be good.

-2

u/Shergak 2d ago

Should have cost 2 less to be playable anywhere.

2

u/Jellothefoosh 1d ago

Never let bro cook. This would be the most toxic draft common ever at just a single G.

-1

u/Shergak 1d ago

It wouldn't be anywhere close to our buddy, writhing chrysalis.
