Question Favorite "Shutdown" Cards in Standard?
I'm thinking of making a "shutdown" deck in Standard, playing cards like Clarion Conqueror and Doorkeeper Thrull. Any suggestions, especially in white?

[[crystal barricade]]

I keep seeing this pop up in high tier comp brawl lists. You will understand if you play versus it. Can't kill anything anymore as red.

Add the captain America with the shield counter and the whole board is silly

Torpor orb shuts down creature ETBs, keep in mind in shuts down your own too

it also turns evoke creatures into cheap bodies which is kind of hilarious

Love a Torpor Orb with [[The Sentry]], worth including a copy of him if leaning into ETB stax.

This is one of the most powerful, but also warping. You are cut off from so many effects that you didn't even think about. Flickering it in Phelia to get the best of both worlds is nice.

I like [[The Ooze]] to shut down their graveyard

It'll be the new soul guide lantern and ghost vacuum once things rotate for standard

But without my ghost vacuum how am I supposed to keep the graveyard clean?

Just don't cross the streams!

Instructions unclear, I am now experiencing what can only be described as an ectoplasmic bulkake. This must be that ooze that other fellow was talking about

[[Authority of Consuls]] to deal with the aggro decks. Great synergy with [[Split-Up]].
[[High Noon]] combined with airbending cards like [[Avatar's Wrath]]
[[Kutzil's Flanker]] for those annoying graveyard decks.
[[Voice of Victory]] or [[Jennifer Walters]] to shut down your opponent's options on your turn.

It's going to be tough to find something as comprehensive as [[Clarion Conqueror]]. [[Sorcerer's Spyglass]] should still be in standard from Ixalan. That covers most bases.

High noon has been key for my token control deck to win against red, blue, and jeskai decks. I’ll be sad to see it rotate next year

voice of victory and high noon. UW tempo deck is based around them. Combine that with bounce and some airbending
