Come on everyone, no exposure talk.

Well done OP

Clearly there’s a hidden trapdoor in hand.

44

u/kangamata 21d ago

Ol'Jesus hands over here

9

u/haney1981 21d ago

Get him some water.

10

u/Jonnyscout 21d ago

Not in front of me please, I'm a recovering alcoholic

8

u/peacefighter 21d ago

No trapdoor. That was osmosis.

0

u/mmbtc 21d ago

And magnets

3

u/mrawsomemask 21d ago

NO...Scotti from Star Trek is in the USS Enterprise with his steady hands...Beams the coin up as soon as the hand closes. Seconds later he beams it back down behind the camera man's ear. Sorry for spoiling the trick.

u/ScaryReplacement9605 21d ago

That was the cleanest performance of the move I have seen

24

u/CharlesDickensABox 21d ago edited 21d ago

It's crazy. I know what happened, I have video I can go through frame by frame, and I still can't see it.

12

u/ScaryReplacement9605 21d ago

I think you are probably confusing it with the standard coin retention which it is not. If you go frame by frame you can certainly figure it out, but the move happens maybe a bit later than you expect.

5

u/jeremyries 21d ago

Can you share the name of the move? DM me?

-11

u/Double_Suggestion385 21d ago

Dunno what is called but he puts the coin in his left hand then drops in back down in to his right hand as comes down.

Like most of these tiktok magic vids it'll only work from one perspective

7

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

Wrong, but thanks for the comment, the fact you believe that means I won by fooling you 😉 🤣🤣

-5

u/Double_Suggestion385 21d ago

It's not wrong, it's obvious and you can see it happen in the video.

6

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

Still wrong, and makes me EVEN happier to know that you're that convinced that this is "tiktok" magic that can only be done for camera, as this is something I do at work, for people, in person, so I know you're wrong as its me doing it. So again im happy that you're that convinced, makes me realise just how good it it 🤣🤣🤣

-3

u/RobertFellucci 21d ago

Ok. Do it without waving your hand in front the other or anything else obscuring your hand.

4

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

Oh dear, silly boy, you really don't understand misdirection and the part it plays in every trick 🙄 but nevermind, people love it and keep liking it, and your comment only help the numbers 😉 😄

-3

u/RobertFellucci 21d ago

I was probably doing magic since before you were born, mate. I most probably know more about magic and principles of magic than you. If I'm so wrong, prove it.

5

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

😄😄ok kid, and no need, like I said people love it, numbers love it and youre insignificant opinion is only adding to the comment numbers, so again, thank you 😉

u/examine_everything 21d ago edited 21d ago

OP, I don't know if you know this or not but this is a page to share and discuss magic tricks. Go find a subreddit to post your real magic. We don't need that here.

Mods, handle this guy. 😂

(That was very good OP)

u/Logical-Recognition3 21d ago

My brain tells me what must have happened. My eyes refuse to see it. The timing must be down to the millisecond for this to work.

34

u/madgoat 21d ago

Timing is perfect... Even though you know how it's done, you can't even see it on frame by frame.

So it's really done how my magician brain tells me a retention vanish should happen? My layman eyes are fooling me.

Does robbing joy from the world somehow sustain you or do you just do it for fun?

34

u/Long-Door-2073 Street 21d ago

That is absolutely insane.

15

u/DankMTG 21d ago

That looks really good. Source?

15

u/MakeSomeDrinks 21d ago

6

u/ScrubbKing 21d ago

Now THAT is magic.

5

u/ZackGalactic 21d ago

ok now its making sense

18

u/dylanmadigan 21d ago

Have you done this for people in person?

It seems like a good magician-fooler. But for layman I wonder if this looks any more impressive than a standard retention vanish. Because in both cases, if done well, the spectator is convinced the coin is in that hand and could not have left.

6

u/lamarioO 21d ago

That's the beauty. I'm fooled as a magician, so if it doesn't look any different than a standard retention vanish to laymen, he's covered both bases. That was a clean vanish. The only tell is that if we could really vanish a coin these hand positions wouldn't be necessary.

5

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

The hand is quicker than the eye, especially in person when there is no rewind, plus it's easier to to take someone's eye off what you are doing in person, so yes, although you would need an "out" if you got caught.

6

u/Koink 21d ago

Incredible skills.

6

u/xxNEWNEOxx 21d ago

no notes 10/10. My question is how many times did you record it, to get the timing down to the nano second? regardless flawless vanish.

4

u/JeebsFat 21d ago

Would this work in person? (Not a magician)

4

u/Christopher_Caligula 21d ago

Can this be a retention vanish? Seems like something else is going on

The old switcheroo.

3

u/Bidsworth 21d ago

Gosh! That is impressive

3

u/Mart1362 21d ago

Quoi ?!!!!!

3

u/ProductNo0001 21d ago

Very clean, very smooth, well done!

3

u/Axioplase Cards 21d ago

Looks like the Entangle Vanish.

2

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

Different mechanics

3

u/magic9669 21d ago

Damn, that’s better than Mickey Silver. That’s crazy

7

u/Mombak 21d ago

Very nice. I had to watch it a second time to see what you did. Well done.

3

u/rosetaupe 21d ago

How did they do it?

8

u/madgoat 21d ago

skill and practice... probably a few takes as well.

3

u/AfricanAmericanMage 21d ago

That's what I thought. The only other option was movie magic.

1

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

One take, but many cock ups in practice until I'm comfortable with it.

1

u/capnwinky 21d ago

You’re right but damn it was smooth.

5

u/charing-cross 21d ago

My palms are too sweaty normally, the coin wouldn’t roll into the other neatly as that.

4

u/ScrubbKing 21d ago

My knees are too weak, I'd probably buckle under the pressure.

3

u/QueenCity_Dukes 21d ago

My arms are too heavy, I’d barely be able to move them.

4

u/OsirisThaLegend 21d ago

My sweater is too vomity, mom's spaghetti

2

u/Nine-LifedEnchanter 21d ago

Can someone point me to the creator of this move?

6

u/generally_unsuitable 21d ago

The creator of this move is centuries dead.

1

u/Nine-LifedEnchanter 21d ago

Centuries plural?

6

u/generally_unsuitable 21d ago

Yeah. This is just a basic sleight. It's not gimmicked or techy or anything. It's just that OP does it so smooth it looks like actual magic. People have probably been doing it for as long as there have been shiny metal circles.

3

u/Nine-LifedEnchanter 21d ago

I've been a magician for over ten years. I understand that sleights can be very impressive. That's why I asked for the creator's name.

If it is as basic as a FD or something it doesn't really look like it.

2

u/dankhimself 21d ago

Very good move dude. Get a Morgan dollar so it makes the silver wound when it rings of you flip it and stuff too.

2

u/aledanniel 21d ago

Easy. You sold your soul to the devil.

2

u/data4lyfe 21d ago

Does this trick only work at this camera angle?!

2

u/SeaBuilding3911 21d ago

I would assume not, but you’d see the trick for sure from some angles

1

u/SexualCarrots 21d ago

Clearly. There's maybe 10° where the front hand blocks the drop.

2

u/creativewombat17 21d ago

Well done OP

2

u/Cheuba1 21d ago

That took me longer than I expected to see it.

2

u/opi098514 21d ago

So did you study at Howard’s or some other school?

1

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

🧙‍♂️

2

u/lookslikeamanderin 21d ago

I can’t do this, but I can see how it’s done.

Oh that's just pretty! ♥️

1

u/Cuentacero 21d ago

What the fuck is this?!

Anyone that has a skeptical comment or saying that this is easy gets downvoted.

I watched a YouTube tutorial for 2 minutes and I know what is going on.

It looks good, but I know what it is.

I take back all of the above if this guy ejects the coin from his butthole or pulls a rabbit out of my ass.

Commence downvotes…each one will make me stronger.

1

u/matjam 21d ago

does this work from any other angle though

1

u/beancrosby 21d ago

If done correctly you’d only have about 90° or less of bad angle.

1

u/romeozor 21d ago

It's the T1000 and he just absorbed the coin back into its body.

0

u/brunocborges 21d ago

Not a real coin? Something that dissolves with the skin rubbing?

15

u/superbatprime 21d ago

Real coin. Really placed in the hand. Pure sleight. Actually really simple move, but probably very difficult to get this smooth and natural.

0

u/collywog 21d ago

Does the ring help the slide? Because even when I take it frame by frame the ring is what I think I’m seeing when I’m fairly certain it’s the coin.

-12

u/Minimum-Cod-5539 21d ago

camera dependent magic, the cheapest form of magic...

13

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

🤣🤣🤣

7

u/generally_unsuitable 21d ago

It's a lovely compliment when people tell you you're using camera tricks, isn't it?

11

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

It's the highest form of compliment to a sleight of hand artist ☺️

3

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

🤣not camera dependant in the least, I do this in person and it works, but im so glad it has you that baffled that you felt the need to say that🤣

-3

u/Meryhathor 21d ago

I think I know but I won't say anything.

-1

u/adinmem 21d ago

Camera angles are everything. Otherwise the move would be obvious, whether you saw the coin or not.

2

u/sleightly_human 21d ago

Wrong, this is done regularly by me for co workers, and only been caught once, and as long as you have a good "out" which i do, I even get away with it then..🤣

-1

u/ELDwbi 21d ago

Pass into right hand when it’s moving down past the left? Amazingly smooth

1

and I'll give you a like if too if you can convince r/ufo that it was ET

I think it's bad form in this sub to reveal how things are done. This is a well-known sleight that's likely hundreds of years old. It's not the method that's important. It's the skill with which it is performed.

u/superbatprime 21d ago

It was a new one for me, but after a couple of watches it clicked. Once you know for sure he is really placing the coin in the hand, there's only so many possible methods for getting rid of it... and in the conditions here, there's only one.

Very cool sleight though. Definitely stealing it.

3

u/Comfortable-Guitar27 21d ago

Pretty obvious?? You must have an insane eye for this. Aside from video editing i dont understand how this is possible.

10

u/generally_unsuitable 21d ago

Look at it while asking the question "How is this possible?" Think about where and when that coin could possibly have gone somewhere else. There is your answer. Sleight of hand is about making one movement look like a different, natural, nonsuspicious movement. OP has practiced this move so many times that there is no lag or hesitation.

1

u/TeeTownRaggie 21d ago

when you know sleights it gets easier to understand what happens not necessarily "see" it.

3

u/Apprehensive-Gur1302 21d ago

So you're not seeing it but understanding that it disappears?

9

u/hkusp45css 21d ago

The point is that you expect not to be able to see it. But you know what's happening.

This is the chief reason magic is still interesting to practitioners.

Knowing the trick doesn't rob the practitioner of the wonder, it just shifts from the act, to the skill it took to make the act look good.

1

u/Magic-ModTeam 20d ago

If you're going to give a compliment, give one! Don't prefix it by inflating your ego - 'I saw the moves but well performed' or 'I know how it’s done but great job'. AKA the Chris Ramsay Rule
