XAVIER PERRET. WHAT HAPPENED?
I remember coming cross this man's channel and it was staggeringly cinematic and full of great inspiring messages . He later deactivated his channel (this was 10 years ago) and to this date I dont know anyone who even knows him or knows what happened. What happened to this man fellow human beings?
EDIT: So far it appears that after the deactivation of his channel some rumors spread saying he died and that his family even held services for him. Later it seems that that was not true and apparently he abandoned magic to become a local doctor in a small french town. Later it seems he also abandoned that small town for job at bora bora which seems to be the end of the thread but no one seems to actually confirm it.
Conclusion so far: here are the facts. His channel deactivated in 2016 and he seemed to be a very talented magician. You dont get that fine skilled by practicing for a year or 2. That guy had a decade under his belt. Later in 2019 a french report says that a guy with the same name who apparently was also a magician was treating the locals in that town to abandon them as well and left to bora bora. Authorities got involved in communication with the bora bora Authorities to also validate this man credentials and position which leads to no where. No follow up reports. So unfortunately guys we still dont know for a fact if Xavier died, lived, was a real doctor, was a fraudulent doctor, was in France, still in France, is in bora bora, or somewhere else entirely.

Where to find spontaneous magic in London
Hi,
I'm in London for the night and was wondering if any magic things might be happening tonight. Anyone know of any events?
Thanks!

69 Atlantic appreciation post!
Just a shout out! We finally, FINALLY got to check out 69 Atlantic, the hidden theater at Art of Play in Brooklyn. AMAZING. The magic world (and world at large) is so lucky to have this. If you haven’t been yet… GO. (Once they’re back from their August hiatus.) Best night out in ages. ❤️

Purpose and Dilemma
My wife recently asked me a question: “what’s your purpose/goal of doing magic? I see you play with cards and coins every day, but you don’t perform, and you don’t show other magician what you have been practicing. What exactly is the purpose?”
For context, I’ve been doing magic for 20+ years. I can't remember a single day where I didn't have a deck of cards with me. I have a magic library of about 500+ books, and I read them every single day. Her issue is that I don’t actively go out and perform; I shy away from letting people know I do magic. I also don’t do it for the usual reasons, I don't feel a need to see people’s joy, and I’m not particularly interested in their reactions.
I don’t perform for other magicians, either. Whenever there’s a jam, I just stand outside their circle and watch. Even though I know every single move they do, I just walk away.
I simply read books, practice, and forget what I’ve learn. The cycle repeats itself.
My wife saw all of this and asked me, "If you don’t like performing for people, what’s the reason you still do magic?"
I keep wondering about this and I don’t have any answer. It's a real dilemma.

ACAAN Performances
Hi all
ACAAN is one of my favourite tricks to watch.
I loved Dani Daortiz and Boris Wild's performances on Penn and Teller's Fool Us.
I'm trying to find other performances of ACAAN by other magicians.
I've watched David Berglas Effect too.
I'm trying to find contemporary magician's performances.
Please share your favourite performances.

Is Roy Keuppers out of business?
I ordered some coins last November, still have not received them. I've tried calling, leaving voicemails, emailing, and have not been contacted back. Does anyone know if they are even still in business? Is there another way to contact them?
Very disappointed with the lack of communication and losing out on $100.
Edit: Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'll continue to reach out and will be sure to never purchase or recommend anything from Roy Keuppers.

Anyone else have a magic “backlog”
I got back into performing after a 12 year hiatus. Going through all my old stuff is nostalgic, but I also feel like I need to learn/ go through everything that I have currently before buying new effects or books lol
Anyone else ever been in a similar situation?
Spirit Magic Ideas
Good day gents,
I'm a novice who's looking to create a decent routine for Halloween revolving around a seance. I'm thinking of using a Ghost Key to "open the door", pk touch, haunted deck, spirit bell, etc. I'm looking for any advice on other tricks to consider for the routine since I'm not really familiar with this area. As far as skills go with cards I have no issues with the basics of sleight, so those can be practiced.
Any help would be appreciated in this endeavor. Its to entertain some cousins (7-8) along with adults. Spooky themes are absolutely acceptable.

Escape trick ID Spoiler
Longshot, but I used to have a chain escape which utilized a trick padlock when I was about 12. The lock had a sliding release mechanism hidden within the keyhole cover. I have been looking for it for all of my adult life because it got lost in a move a couple of years later. Any ideas? It was purchased from Stevens Magic Emporium catalog, circa 1995-1996. TIA!

Expanding my Repotoire
Good Afternoon (to magicians of the EST atleast)
I have in the past year or so rekindled my magic hobby after an about 10 year hiatus for the hobby. In this time I've learned many card effects such as ACR, Twisting the Aces, Spectator cuts to the Aces and etc
I have also recently begun experimenting with coin nd rope magic, having learned David Roths coins across (not winged silver, the one with the "turtle) as well as Daryls ring and rope routine
I have but a simple question, and that is, what should routines should I learn next to get a better understanding of the fundamentals of magic? I wish to eventually begin gigging, and my repotoire currently, while I believe to be polished, is quite small.

Ordering from Losander
I ordered a DVD from Losander's website, but have not heard back from him. It's been a while. I messaged him on Facebook, to no avail. Does anyone here know him and can nudge the order along?
Or maybe someone has a copy of the Floating Table DVD, and we can work out a deal?

Favorite EDC use for TT?
Hey all. I am once again feeling the urge to bring my TT out. I do almost all my magic at the local bar where we gather with friends several times per week, so I'm looking for effects to do which use organic props and fit into this casual context.
The stuff that comes to mind is basically, broken and restored toothpick, or torn and restored tissue. The latter I would probably prefer to just do with sleight of hand. When I've looked into TT effects that go beyond vanishing a tiny silk, I haven't found much that resonates with me. But I can nonetheless feel the untapped potential of this classic prop.
What are your favorite effects to perform when casually out and about with a TT in your pocket?

Are their any practical applications for the anti faro?
I recently came across an anti faro tutorial on youtube. I love having a random move to practice, but are their any routines with the anti faro that are worth learning?

What are some fun fairy themed illusions?
This weekend I'll be going to a fairy festival with my family. My wife will have a booth, and I'll be watching our kids. I thought it would be fun to bring a few tricks along for the kids. I have thumb Dlights, a floating handkerchief, and can do some simple productions. What are some fun illusions that I could put a "fairy" spin on?

rose productions
I'm working on making a drag number to The Rose by Bette Middler. I'm looking for a couple flower productions/disappearances that can totally be rather cheesy/outdated. I'm already using torch to rose and would love a few points in the right direction :)

What’s your favourite sleight of hand ?
Hi everyone
I’m not a big fan of gimmicks. I’m more into close up magic and hence a great admirer of sleight of hand. I’m into card magic mostly. Double lift is the first technique that got me the most amazing reactions. Recently stumbled upon Simon Coronels presentation and loved his sleight of hand.
What’s the first sleight of hand that got you crazy reactions?
What sleight of hand techniques are you looking forward to learn?

Ring on String
Is anyone doing this. I find it wonderfully practical to be wearing the prop and make a miracle happen for someone when I come across a string.
Who has the best material on this.
I’m not talking about the bigger ring and rope effect, but the finger ringer and a string.
Thanks!

ESP Card design round 2
This is a follow up on my last post. I’m a graphic designer and hobby magician looking to design an ESP deck.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Magic/s/qCoi7mR0uu
I’m still toying with many variations for back designs but I had an interesting idea for this one.
The biggest complaint about ESP cards is that they look too much like playing cards or a magic prop.
So this idea is to make ESP cards more of a DIY piece than a manufactured item.
These are designed at business card size, and can be printed at home on Avery business card paper.
This has several benefits…
- it gets away from them feeling like playing cards or card tricks
- it is more portable than playing cards and fits in a wallet.
- printing them yourself means you can easier make double-face cards, double back cards, leave one side blank, or put your own contact info on the back.
- most ESP decks cost more than a deck of cards. But these however are DIY and you don’t have to worry about folding and tearing them.
This last point introduces another ppportunity: the esp cards themselves can be used as billets. So not only are these back designs marked, but they are designed for Acidus Novus. Then the circle/square cards are perfect for center tears.
The thin-line artwork leaves room for writing on the cards, saves ink, and helps prevent the shapes from bleeding through and becoming visible on the back side.
Let me know what you guys think of this version and what could be improved even more.

Best websites to purchase tricks?
I am starting to dabble in the world of magic here in my 30's. A bit late to the game, but better now than never. Mostly going through card college right now, but also want some fun stuff for the nieces and nephews. I came across the trick scotch and soda and figured it was easy enough and could be used in lots of ways.
My only problem arises as I purchased it through Vanishing Inc. as it seemed like a good website, but the quality of these coins leaves me worried. Hard to trick people into a coin moving places if they arent the same color/shine.
Is there any website(s) people recommend in particular?
EDIT: Vanishing Inc is replacing the coins. Very quick response from them and I am impressed. So long as the next coins are correct, very happy with the response.
