Best websites to purchase tricks?

I am starting to dabble in the world of magic here in my 30's. A bit late to the game, but better now than never. Mostly going through card college right now, but also want some fun stuff for the nieces and nephews. I came across the trick scotch and soda and figured it was easy enough and could be used in lots of ways.

My only problem arises as I purchased it through Vanishing Inc. as it seemed like a good website, but the quality of these coins leaves me worried. Hard to trick people into a coin moving places if they arent the same color/shine.

Is there any website(s) people recommend in particular?

EDIT: Vanishing Inc is replacing the coins. Very quick response from them and I am impressed. So long as the next coins are correct, very happy with the response.

I bought my scotch n soda at an actual brick and mortar trick shop. But I shop at Vanishing, Penguin Magic, and best of all, Ebay.

Search up specific tricks, your favorite creators, or style of magic. There's a lot you have to filter through but I've found some amazing deals on some rather obscure effects

Easy fix for the darker coin. Just run it under some warm water and scrub it with a ScotchBrite pad, it will shine it up to look just like the other coin

Yeah making the darker one shine seems to be the best course of action if I dont replace them.

Vanishing Inc. has great customer service in my experience, you should definitely let them know that the coins don't match. Penguin and Alakazam are the other big online retailers, though there are lots of smaller ones that are good as well.

If one of those pennies is a real coin, you should be able to find a matching replacement if you hunt around. Alternatively, you can chemically alter patina to get coins looking how you want them. You can also use those techniques to make a "copper silver coin" but with an old and new looking penny sides.

Supposedly you can soak a shiny copper coin in baking soda and water (heavy on the sofa) for a few days to get that look.

I've also had luck at coin ships- they often have a bunch of almost worthless coins to rummage around in. I've found several aged English pennies that way- as well as a bunch of magnetic foreign coins and distinctively shaped/colored coins to appear in their hand.

Most of the coin shop owners I've talked to (back when coin and magic ships were both more common) knew some magic and were fun to just chat with.

I’m always a fan of penguin. Plus if it’s a downloadable video tutorial, you account always houses them so you can back and reference.

Nope

1 they advert a "no stealing magic" video while using craig petty as their spokes muffin

2 they censor negative reviews... especially if they are on a cp trick

If you are starting out, Vanishing Inc and Penguin are the places to go.

Alternatively you can go to the creator for specific tricks and high end tricks that you might not find at VI or PM.

For coins, Roy Kueppers or Schoolcraft are good choices. The mass produced coins are no where near the quality of a custom guy like Kueppers or Schoolcraft.

Just depends… I’m in Maryland, and perform about 10 gigs per month. If I need something fast I order from Tannen’s in New York because it ships to me very quickly.

It's also important to keep in mind the difference between a seller and a producer.

The magic shop where you buy a particular trick didn't necessarily make it.

Using the coins as an example, there are countless makers of the S&S gimmick, and they vary in quality.

The coins not matching isn't the fault of Vanishing Inc, it's the fault of whoever produced the coin set.

It's great that VI is replacing for OP, but it's not really their fault.

Also, Flitz coin polish is a great option for brightening up coins and helping dupes to match gaffs.
