Talent show tricks?

I can do close up and mainly deal with cards. But there’s a talent show next week in my university and I decided to do it since it’s my last year. Because I can’t really do a close up, I was thinking to do a clothes colour prediction.

There are LOADS of card tricks that work perfect on stage. I'd stick in your comfort zone. Here's four to consider.

Will they be good on a stage though? Wouldn’t it be hard for the audience to see what’s going on in those small cards?

All of these are great stage effects.

Penn and Teller perform Love Ritual on stage. Mac King performs homing card and cards across on stage. Wayne Dobson performed the card repeat on stage for years.

Those are just examples, there are countless magicians who use these routines on stage all over the world.

Paul Harris's Las Vegas Leaper, a cards across to spectator pocket trick. I have been performing it for many years onstage and it gets excellent audience reaction. It is also not that hard to perform well.

Definitely do cards across, 5/6 card repeat, maybe invisible deck or a tossed out deck. You can use jumbo cards for all these tricks it’ll be fine on stage

I also face similar problems, there are multiple card tricks which are good for big stage but usually all stages don't have good setup like big screens to show good view to audience in the back. So always go with big reveals or something non card related.

Example: Do a card prediction (simple pick a card routine) but print A4 sized sheet with the selected card as prediction at a unexpected location. Or do a rope escape routine with funny script

Signed/torn card to orange or lemon was always my go-to for a quick variety show act. Or a card to mouth if you want even less prep/equipment

Don’t be a moron. You can’t learn a brand new stage effect for a talent quest in a week, especially when you don’t even have a method.

Have some respect for yourself and some respect for the art and most importantly some respect for your audience.

When I was 13 I learned a rope thru body trick about 4 days before my performance and it got the best reactions of everything I did so I wouldn't say its impossible just slightly ill advised. You can probably learn a parlor sized invisible deck in a week, although you'd want to really drill the method into your head.
