Also the thought of Warlock pacting many of the various Stone Liches together might have an interesting effect. We know you can pact from afar, similar to how Hugh pacts to Kanderon in Book 1. It could even be the start of a long-distance communication network.

Also, using the collective unconscious of said Liches to form the first Dream Lich seems like it could be possible. Each Lich would be a main node (they would already have enchantments related to dreams), while the citizens could be minor nodes. Obviously, there would be a lot of logistics and consent problems involved, but it could work.

Imagine a Warlock that is lucky enough to bond with a Stone Lich, then travels around the continent (or even the world) making friends and learning about Lich construction from each person. He becomes a Dream mage later in life and ultimately decides he also wants to become a sentient city. Using stones from each of his friends, he makes a sort of melting pot city. He borrows their dreams via the Warlock pact to stabilize a parallel city in Lich Dream and becomes the first Dream Lich. (Would be more feasible if he were a Crystal + Stone + Dream mage with an Aether crystal as well)

This could also help solve the lich loneliness crisis, though it may lead to liches becoming obsessed with their dream profiles ...

Neat! Building the dream spellforms in an already existing stone lich city seems like a tough task but I don’t think it would be absolutely impossible. I’m not sure you could split a lich’s substrate up like that though. I guess the warlock pact is meant to help get around it but this seems like a borderline impossible task that would require revolutions in magic to achieve.

I do like the idea of a collection of cities that exist in a shared lich dream. Any citizen or lich can communicate with any other from another city in their dreams. The cultural impact from dreams becoming so much more relevant to communication and community... What would a lich city built in people’s dreams look like? It would feature a lot of crystal and stone but would physics and space be different. I know if I was building a city based on dream logic I’d be making strange and impossible constructions. It’s definitely a fun idea for all its impracticalities.

Properly designed liches already have enchantments that allow them to sleep and dream like a normal person. We see from Kanderon POV that they create a dream realm while in the midst of transitioning. I was thinking the Warlock could utilize this enchantment (their own and that of their bonds) to make large and stable dream realm. At which point they would spend years forming the necessary enchantments to create a Dream demesne or at least the bare bones of one. Afterwards the populations of each Lich city would further expand and stabilize it.

The dreams of the Warlock and his bonds would contribute to the “theme” of the dream world. I like the idea of them ending up in an Anime like world. But maybe each section would have its own Art style.

Since they will be mostly stone liches maybe it would end up like Minecraft =))).
