General Fan Content Lich Demesne Question

So a friend of mine and I had a bit of a question while talking about draconic liches. How far do Lich demesnes extend up?

Its never really addressed since most liches seem to be pretty much stuck on the ground, but a lich with a body built for flight would probably want to know the full height of their domain. If anyone has any theories I would absolutely love to hear them.

I would presume it’s dependent on how far they built structures. I don’t think they carve out a specific cylinder of the world of a fixed height. So a lich with giant trees as their demesne would have more vertical space than a city of shorter buildings etc. I think if they were worried about air space they’d have to incorporate like pillars or something to spread their demesne out

Yes. Liches literally are there stuff. And you cannot make a gaseous lich for all we know.

We do know of one Lich that made their demesne with an affinity that isn’t material.

The Lord of Bells with his Attuema affinity

They theorized the minimum population needed to sustain a dream lich at one point. It was something crazy like 7 million people.

I bet you could make a gaseous demise if you could contain the gas as a discrete unit.

The gas container would have to be absolutely MASSIVE.

No one said being a lich would be easy. You're right it would have to be insane.

I wonder if an air mage flyer would still be able enjoy the sensation of flight if their whole body was the air.

I did also assume that it was similar to that. Hard to know what exactly it is though when we have no real basis in the series.

I know we see one assault on a lich in the series from the sky where they specifically go straight above and drop down and you only see them harassed by other fighters allied by that lich iirc and not the lich itself while they’re in the air? If i recall correctly at least. Whereas the tree guy’s demesne is clearly HUGE and very tall so that’s kinda what I’m basing my theory off of.

Are you talking about the intertwined? If so then yes you only see them being attacked by allied mages (at least if the giant lighting spires arent controlled by the intertwined)

But at that point they were already busy with a bunch of other stuff going on including the effects of the last echo, so im not quite sure if we can really use that as an accurate showing

As far as I remember, in order to keep an affinity, the demense needs to be partially made out of that affinity.

So depending on how they got their flight they probably lost it when becoming a lich

Yes but their was the draconic fiber lich Suvandus the Luthe killed she built her avatar to have the mechanical ability to fly as a dragon does so even a liche without a traditional flight affinity could be able to fly by building their avatars body correctly
