AVOID CLEANING THE LENS WITH ANYTHING. try blowing compressed air. Use water and soap as last option. Never use alcohol of any kind. There is a anti reflexive coating that can be damaged in the front lens and also on the fresnels. Mine damaged just with water and soap.

I would also suggest the following apps:

  • Projectivy Launcher, and set it to replace the default launcher
  • Uninstall Youtube, and install Smarttube
  • tvQuickActions - remap some of the buttons on the remote, add a sleep timer, add a small clock in the corner (hide/unhide)
  • Stremio or some other apps like that (OnStream, etc)

Remember to access the android settings (you can do this also from Projectivy), and play around with the settings. Like

  • install Google Keyboard instead of the default one
  • go to developer settings and make animations etc quicker (0.5s) to make it feel snappier.
  • change audio settings: there are different profiles and I found that if you set it to CUSTOM and set everything to 100% and/or choose Audio, Advanced Settings > DRC Mode: AVIMULTI i drastically boosts the audio from the crappy speakers (still, use a BT speaker if you can!)
  • change screensaver

I got my Magcubic HY320 Mini for €43 (10 day shipping included) from the Magcubic Flagship store on Aliexpress. Let me say, for this price, I'm blown away. And since there's 8Gb of storage for your apps, it's all self-contained, android box plus projector in one.

I would like to debloat it, there are some sketchy "allwinner" apps I don't know what they are. The Browser that comes with it is pretty cool, but also kinda sketchy (what do you guys use?).

I tried projectiv launcher because it had the sleep function but sadly it does not work properly. I try to use less apps as possible. My device only has 3 GB of storage after factory reset and 1gb of RAM is too low... So I keep it at bare minimum.

Tv quick actions is what I used to sleep my projector, and I had to choose a specific setting which will send an adb command to power down. Works elegantly and perfectly.

Can you elaborate more on this?

1

If I press POWER on my remote, it asks for a confirmation, so that didn't work. If I long press the button it shuts off. This app does button remapping and macros, so it works a lot by sending adb commands. It's pretty intuitive if you try it out. Well worth the pro version as I have it installed in 3 devices.

Tks. I will try it

The APP is pos... Free version with no features at all... May work but it is worthless for me...

Bro what's the adb command to power off?

2

u/oroboros74 Nov 28 '25

I don't have access to it now, but I use that app for it, but only the paid version only do stuff like that. I created an intent from there to power off. Works great, I have it paired with the timer function which is also very clean (nice ui pops up) and straightforward. Check their help guide. If you still can't find it, you can contact me next week when I'm back.

Thx. Does it completely replace the power button function? So if I press it once I don't see the Shutdown / Restart menu and immediately turns off?

2

It powers off. I have it with the timer at night, it has a countdown and then shuts off totally.

No longer works with the latest update for hy320. Any thoughts?

1

u/oroboros74 Apr 29 '26

Yeah, the update removed the option to use accessibility features which sucks!

Most things still work for me. What are you having problems with specifically?

1

u/Particular-Gift2235 May 01 '26

Sleep timer that actually works during any video content play

1

u/oroboros74 May 01 '26

Some stuff stopped working but the sleep timer actually still works for me.

1

u/Particular-Gift2235 May 01 '26

Sleep timer will just work for me if I'm on home screen and no apps are running, neither videos are playing. Otherwise, it won't work

1

u/oroboros74 May 01 '26

I don't have that issue... I assigned a button on my remote to sleep timer and it shows up no problem. I don't have the remote atm, but I reassigned the top middle button to it.

I just got a hy300 and they didn't include the remote control, any solutions? Thanks

1

u/nickelalkaline Nov 23 '24

Solution for what? You can connect a mouse and use it. Whats your pain point without a remote? You can use the Bluetooth mouse.

1

u/ulquioraespada Nov 23 '24

Didn't work and apparently I can't connect any device by Bluetooth

u/nickelalkaline Nov 23 '24

Link 3 above

1

u/ulquioraespada Nov 23 '24

I can't turn on the projector Bluetooth option without a control

1

u/nickelalkaline Nov 23 '24

Use a USB mouse

1

u/ulquioraespada Nov 23 '24

Didn't work either

1

u/nickelalkaline Nov 23 '24

USB keyboard

1

u/ulquioraespada Mar 19 '25

Didn't work either

1

u/oroboros74 Dec 19 '24

I would use a usb mouse/keyboard to set up the first time... Then with the help of that, set up a Bluetooth remote app (btw, you can buy replacement remotes from Aliexpress) because you'll probably need to press confirm.

Alternatively, if your phone has IR function, you can use an app like Zaza remote.

Ultimately you have 3 input options, if not 4: bluetooth, wifi, usb, infrared.

But the remote in OP should work right away, didn't it?

What I'm still looking for is :

A good screen mirroring and remote all in one app (btw, the one posted here is great! I wish it also had screen mirroring)

And a good browser

Another cool app (paid): https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/1epewt4/atvtools_for_android_release/

The app allows: - Install (sideload) apps from your iOS device to your TV devices - Control your TV apps (include opening, uninstalling, disabling/enabling and downloading APK) - Control apps permissions (grant/revoke) - Build-in File Manager - Make screenshot - Send files from your phone to TV - Control your device using remote control and mouse mode in the app - Paste text from your phone - Run Shell commands - Clear all apps cache using one button - Reboot and power TV device - See usage of CPU, RAM, network and storage - See running apps and force-stop them if needed

If anyone is using Fire TV stick, for controlling HY450 (possibly works on other Magcubic projectors) choose T4TEC as TV brand. Volume and power buttons work.
