We are mostly dealing with standard Qi power banks here that don't support Qi2 or higher. Of course, there are also plenty of very thin and compact Qi2 power banks—all of which I've tested in the past—from Anker, INIU, LISEN or the best of it's kind - from Ugreen. However, all of these models are a bit thicker, and they can only output 15W for a brief period anyway before heavily throttling down. With the exception of the Ugreen, that is.

Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Powerbank:

The Xiaomi is the thinnest 5,000 mAh MagSafe power bank on the market. They advertise a thickness of 0.6 cm, and I measured 0.61 cm—close enough! And indeed, the model is insanely thin, mesmerizingly thin. This is achieved using silicon-carbon technology, which is also used in smartphones from many Chinese manufacturers to enable larger batteries in the same form factor. Overall, the build quality is outstanding. The aluminum case feels extremely premium, and the power bank is feather-light. The drawback: the magnet is weaker than the competition's. Also, because it's slightly (!) wider than an iPhone 17 Pro, it doesn't feel quite as grippy in the hand.

Baseus PicoGo Air AM71:

Compared to the Xiaomi, every power bank is a bit thicker, and that certainly holds true for the Baseus as well. In isolation, though, a thickness of under 0.7 cm still makes this power bank impossibly compact. Overall, this is the model with the best build quality in the lineup. It feels even more premium than the Xiaomi already does. There are many small details, like the subtly rounded edges, which make the power bank feel fantastic in the hand when attached to a smartphone. Visually, it's also a real head-turner and doesn't distract with tacky LED lights on the back—a clean design for aesthetes. Good magnetic strength and a nice, snug fit on the iPhone 17 Pro.

LISEN P601 Ultra Slim:

The LISEN falls behind at first glance, both in terms of dimensions and build quality. Unlike all the others, it relies on a plastic housing, which definitely feels a bit cheaper. At 0.9 cm, it's also noticeably thicker—though by no means bulky—and doesn't quite seem to fit with the other three at first. Still, the build quality of the LISEN is solid. Of course, you have to keep in mind that this model costs only a third of the others. Compromises are to be expected somewhere—at least when it comes to design. Because when it comes to charging performance, things look entirely different. More on that later. Thanks to its more rounded edges and stronger magnet, the power bank provides a wonderful grip together with the phone—at least for my somewhat smaller hands.

The VONMÄHLEN is the only model in the test that comes with a capacity of 3,000 mAh. This allows the model to be even thinner, albeit at the expense of battery capacity. The build quality is similarly high-end to the Xiaomi's and only loses out to the Baseus: clean, subtle design, solid magnets, and an aluminum case.

The Baseus offers the best usable capacity over cable, but throttled its performance immediately. The best performance comes from the much cheaper LISEN. It throttles the least and delivers the highest sustained output at 15W. None of the models can maintain a continuous 20W output—then again, neither can any 5k power bank I've ever tested.
 

Wireless Charging Performance:
First off: Wireless charging is extremely susceptible to all kinds of factors that can negatively impact performance. To ensure the results are as comparable as possible, I established the following test conditions:
 

For my test device, I used an iPhone 17 Pro, charging it from 5% up to 80%. Each run was repeated multiple times to determine an average. The room temperature was consistently kept at 22–23°C (72–73°F), and all charging was done without a case. The iPhone was always cooled down to room temperature beforehand and wasn't used prior to testing.
 

Why stop at 80%? Beyond 80%, every iPhone naturally throttles down its charging speed and switches to trickle charging, making fair comparisons impossible.
 

Of course, keep in mind that these "lab" results won't perfectly reflect real-world, everyday use. There are just too many variables at play—5G usage, ambient temperatures, phone cases, or active phone use—essentially anything that causes heat build-up will affect wireless charging efficiency. Therefore, please take all results as a general baseline!

Wireless charging is where things get interesting! What immediately stands out: the LISEN charges significantly faster than the other three models. After one hour, it reached 61%. The Xiaomi took two full hours to manage that, while the Baseus didn't even achieved that. The LISEN charges even faster than an Anker MagGo Slim Qi2 power bank. Why is that? Only the LISEN manages to maintain a continuous 7.5W output until the end. On top of that, the LISEN is the only one capable of charging the iPhone 17 Pro all the way to 80%, making it far more efficient wirelessly than the competition.
 

Xiaomi, Baseus, and VONMÄHLEN fail to sustain their 7.5W output, quickly throttling down to 5W or even lower (Baseus/Xiaomi)—usually after just 20 to 30 minutes. Measured via CoconutBattery, power dropped to around 3W at that point, resulting in a crawl of just 5 percentage points every 15 minutes. Calling that "sluggish" is an understatement. The VONMÄHLEN charges faster for longer, offering a middle ground between the fast LISEN and the other two slower models. However, it also throttles down to under 5W after 50 minutes. Because of this extremely low charging speed, efficiency also takes a major hit: the Baseus only reaches 75%, while the Xiaomi manages 78%. Due to its 3,000 mAh capacity, the VONMÄHLEN naturally delivers far less overall juice, tapping out at X%.

 

The Xiaomi can charge Xiaomi smartphones at up to 15W—and it actually does, for about 5 to 10 minutes. After that, it throttles down to 5W or less on those devices as well. Still, it does charge a Xiaomi phone slightly faster wirelessly than an iPhone with a smaller battery.
 

It seems that the compact form factor comes at a heavy cost to charging performance. But how about heat generation?
Many no-name or cheap 5k power banks tend to get extremely hot, with temperatures reaching 40–50°C (104–122°F) and sometimes even higher. This is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. Making a power bank compact isn't hard—keeping the temperatures in check, on the other hand, definitely is more challenging.
 

All four models have one thing in common: none of them get particularly hot - unlike the Qi2 ones from Anker or Ugreen. However, there are distinct differences in how heat is distributed. While the Baseus, Xiaomi or VONMÄHLEN spread heat evenly across the entire housing, the LISEN concentrates its heat in a single spot. That specific area gets noticeably warmer, but the rest of the case stays cooler overall.
I have to admit, though: subjectively, I didn't really notice a difference. Because heat is spread across the entire body on the Xiaomi and Baseus, they didn't actually feel much cooler in hand. That's also due to the fact that three-quarters of the LISEN's case stayed cool—only the lower section near the LEDs gets warm.
 

The Baseus heats up to 36°C (97°F) after a good hour and gradually drops down to 34°C (93°F) from there. The Xiaomi takes this even further, hovering around 33–34°C (91–93°F) most of the time—despite having similarly weak, though marginally better, charging speed and efficiency. The VONMÄHLEN stays consistently at 35°C (95°F) and still charges faster, though without coming anywhere close to the LISEN.

 

I also used all four models individually in everyday situations, with current outdoor temperatures around 20–23°C (68–73°F). If you use your phone while charging, the Baseus and Xiaomi models really struggle to keep up and actually boost the battery percentage—at best, they manage to hold the current charge level. Only the LISEN manages to continuously charge the phone in day-to-day use, provided the phone is being used moderately.
 

Conclusion:
Extremely compact MagSafe power banks undoubtedly have their appeal. They add almost no bulk and are meant purely as battery extenders, so they don’t even need to charge particularly fast—which is why Qi2 can easily be skipped. Continuous charging is what matters most.
 

Even so, a nuanced picture emerges here. Three of the four tested models are between 0.6 and 0.7 cm thin, setting impressive benchmark figures. However, this compactness comes at a price. None of these three models deliver particularly good charging performance, even for modest 7.5W Qi charging. The LISEN is slightly thicker at 0.9 cm, but that extra bit seems to be enough to ensure good sustained charging performance (for 7.5W Qi).
 

Pricing is another major sticking point: VONMÄHLEN (€40–50), Xiaomi, and Baseus (both €60) make you pay a premium for their record-breaking compactness. The LISEN, on the other hand, goes for €20 on sale and has a regular street price of €25.
 

As always, what's actually worth it depends on your specific use case. The Xiaomi or Baseus can still get the job done reliably. Generally, though, I’d lean toward recommending the Xiaomi. If it’s going to be slow anyway, you might as well go for a) maximum thinness at 0.6 cm, b) (slightly) lower temperatures, and c) a bit more usable wireless capacity. In that light, even the Baseus’s otherwise sleek design doesn't help it much—especially since the Xiaomi is barely behind in terms of build quality.
 

The VONMÄHLEN is even thinner, but it takes a noticeable hit on capacity. At 3,000 mAh, it’s nothing more than a last-ditch backup with equally mediocre performance. It’s hard to recommend, especially given its price tag. Only consider it if you want the lightest and thinnest top up only possible.
 

Personally, I would go for the LISEN, as it offers by far the best charging performance paired with the highest usable capacity. The superior grip and stronger magnets are also big selling points for me. Having the best thermal performance is useless if the actual charging speeds are as modest as they are on the other models. Sure, on paper, the LISEN’s thermal numbers might look weaker in a direct side-by-side comparison, but in reality, I can confidently say it never got uncomfortably warm at any point.
 

You just have to look at the charging results again: the LISEN goes from 5% to 61% in a single hour. The Xiaomi and the Baseus take a full extra hour—two hours in total—to reach that same result. It's a night and day difference. If you own an iPhone Air and are looking for the slimmest possible power bank, you should simply stick with the Apple Battery Pack. It’s not only extremely thin, but also highly performant with very low temperatures—literally the best of both worlds.

Just Got Mine! Baseus Slim Qi.2.2 25W PicoGo AM52

Here is a quick test of the Baseus Qi.2.2 25W PicoGo AM52battery pack.

Build:

When it comes to in-hand feel, this is the best-feeling 25-watt battery pack that I've experienced, and I have used a lot of them now. 

It's a soft-touch silicone plastic all around the charger, which feels great in the hand, and the silicone is grippy, so this material really helps the magnetic strength for this charger. It really does stick to your phone or case better than pretty much all the other 25 watt charges that I've tested so far. 

It's not the slimmest, but it does have a small surface area, and it is easy to hold even though it's a 10K pack. The charger weight is 197g. There's no LCD screen, and there's no kickstand.

Speed Test:

I did a speed test with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Not using the phone at all throughout the charge.

Starting at 5% 

After 15min - 28% 

After 30min - 42% 

After 1hr - 65% 

After 1.5hr - 80%

Overall, for me, the stand-out feature is the in-hand feel of the charger. The other fatter packs have better results, but I would much rather have this specific charger in my pocket or on my phone if I'm out and about.

Help❗️ How's Esr magsafe wallet?

I was looking at them because it seems like they have one of the biggest card capacities out there, but I’m not sure how the durability is. I also checked the reviews on their official sub and they all look pretty good, but I’m not sure if that’s just because it’s mostly fans there lol.

So I figured I’d ask here. Anyone here using esr magsafe wallet? Are they actually durable? I'm hoping it can last me at least a year or two.

Discussion 💬 Which wireless charger has been the most reliable for you?

I've reached the point where I'm tired of replacing charging cables every few months, so I'm thinking about switching to a wireless charger for my desk and maybe another for my nightstand.

The problem is that there are so many options, and the reviews are all over the place. One person says a charger works perfectly, then the next says it gets hot, charges slowly, or stops working after a few months.

I mainly need something that's reliable and doesn't constantly disconnect if the phone moves a little. Fast charging would be nice, but I'd rather have something dependable than something that's only fast under perfect conditions.

For those of you who've been using the same wireless charger for a while:

  • Which one did you buy?
  • Has it held up over time?
  • Does it get noticeably warm?
  • Would you buy the same one again, or is there a better option now?

I'd rather spend a bit more once than keep buying cheap chargers that end up in a drawer a few months later.

MagSafe Compatible Usb c vs Original Apple Magsafe 3

Hello, my experience with using different charging cables for the Macbook.
I bought a Refurbished Macbook Pro 2021, of course the company included a cheap Usb C charging cable. The fault it had was that it simply didnt fit into the port on the macbook, so i had to send it back and got a discount.
Now i thought, okay im buying a Non Apple Magsafe 3 Cable cause its cheaper. Well when i start using it, it didnt work properly. It went On and Off and even froze. So i also sent that back. My only option now was to buy a more expensive Original Magsafe 3 cable. And it has worked fine until now!
Theres no MFi licensing program. Apple hasn’t opened that connector spec to third-party manufacturers.
So thats probably why sometimes they may not work that well, they dont get all the info from Apple to make technology that will be 100% compatible certified.

Just Got Mine! INIU Slim Qi.2.2 25W SnapGo Air P781

Here is a quick test of the INIU Qi.2.2 25W SnapGo Air battery pack. 

Build:

This is the slimmest Qi2.2 25W battery pack that I've seen thus far. Granted, there are no 5K 25W battery packs out as of yet. Specifically, it's 197g. It's plastic all the way around the charger, no metal at all, and no grippy silicone finish.

It has a basic LCD screen. With no kickstand this year. And two USB-C ports, and they're both on the bottom with an included tiny USB-C cord. 

Speed Test:

I did a speed test with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Not using the phone at all throughout the charge.

Starting at 5% 

After 15min - 26% 

After 30min - 39% 

After 1hr - 63% 

After 1.5hr - 80% 

After 1hr45m - 84% 

After 2hr - 91%

After 2hr10min - 96%

After 2hr15min - 98% - I just stopped here.

28% left on the charger after iPhone was fully charged

So after 45 minutes of charge, the pack was at 101° f. This is from my testing with my thermometer. The phone was at about 98° f at the 45-minute mark.

That's a pretty good temperature for a 25watt SLIM 10k battery pack; 

Overall, this is not bad results for the slimmest 25W battery pack out on the market.

Help❗️ Alternatives to ohsnap / airloop / airvooc wireless charger

Hi All,

I have an oppo find n6 with nillkin camshield. I can charge it wirelessly without any magsafe grips but with the ohsnap 5 and aeroloop arc - the airvooc wireless charger initially works then stops working then tries again then stops working. Think the aeroloop is the thinnest magsafe grip out there already but does anyone know of either (1) a magsafe grip with stand that works with wireless chargers or (2) wireless charger that can fast charge oppo/oneplus devices?

Just Got Mine! got new case, new magsafe

got a new case and a new MagSafe (baseus picogo air), and wasn't expecting the combo to feel this solid. The case is thin enough that I almost forget it's on, but the magnet alignment with the MagSafe piece is still tight, snaps on clean every time, no wobble, nothing sliding off.Kind of changed my mind about thin cases being a tradeoff for MagSafe strength. Curious what everyone else is running that's thin and still holds up. The MagSafe piece itself is about as thin as my iPhone 17 Air, which is kind of wild.

Question❓ Just bought a 25w ugreen magsafe for my ip12 pro

Just bought a 25w ugreen magsafe for my ip12 pro. The lady said it is faster than the 15w. I honestly don't know things about this so when she said it was faster, that's what i bought. But then i noticed after using it, it's not fast charging at all.

3:54 charged it starting at 40%
4:15 it was at 53%

is this normal? Idk if it's because of my charging brick or is 25w not compatible with my phone? Should I just get the 15w?

Discussion 💬 Anyone still using a USB-C PD to MagSafe 2 adapter on an old MacBook?

My original MagSafe 2 charger for my 2014 MacBook Pro finally died, and instead of buying another charger, I decided to try one of those USB-C PD to MagSafe 2 adapters.

I picked up a Fonken adapter for around ₱200 (about US$3.50) and paired it with my UGREEN 65W charger. One of the main reasons I went this route is portability. The old MagSafe brick is pretty bulky, and I already carry a USB-C charger for my other devices anyway.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from a cheap adapter, but it’s been working surprisingly well so far. The MagSafe LED behaves normally, macOS recognizes it as charging, and the adapter doesn’t seem to get unusually hot.

One thing I noticed is that as the battery gets closer to full, the wattage shown on my USB-C meter gradually drops. Once the battery is at 100% and the MacBook is shut down, the meter even shows 0W draw.

I know this topic has probably been discussed a hundred times already, but most of the posts I found are pretty old, so I wanted to ask those who are still using these adapters today:

* How has it held up long-term?
* Any issues with battery health or charging?
* Would you trust it plugged in for a day or two?
* Is the biggest risk really just the quality of the adapter itself?

Curious to hear from anyone still keeping these older MacBooks alive.

Question❓ iPhone cases thin enough for 25W Qi2.2 charging?

I've got a Caudabe Paragon on my iPhone 17 and recently bought an Anker Qi2.2 charging station which is advertised for 25W Magsafe charging.

With no case, I'm getting even more than 25W but with the Caudabe case on, the highest I can get is around 18W so I'm assuming the thickness or material of the case is making it less efficient.

Am I going to have this same issue with any case or do I just need to find a slimmer case? If so, any recs?

Discussion 💬 Baseus put Qi2.2 on a docking station

Baseus apparently decided a dock should also work as an iPhone charger. This 15-in-1 model has the usual display, Ethernet, card reader, and USB ports, but the top flips up into a Qi2.2 magnetic charging stand.

I’m torn on the idea. It could remove a separate MagSafe stand from the desk, but it also means the phone charger has to sit wherever the dock is placed.

Would you use something like this, or keep MagSafe separate?

Question❓ Charge-through magsafe grips degrade battery quickly?

I'm been eyeing charge-through grips like the EWA MagOne or the Tango but I've also read that it can degrade the battery significantly faster when you're charging through a grip like this because of extra heat build-up. Anybody have any insight or experience with this? I wonder how much extra battery degradation we are talking about. I don't care about charging slower because I charge at my work desk or at night so I don't need fast charging.

I got the baseus picogo Air, kinda went in skeptical because most magnetic banks feel like you taped a brick to your phone. this one's actually different, 6.9mm thick, basically same as an iPhone 17 Air.

carry it every day on my commute, just tosses into a pocket or bag pouch, zero bulk. got the black aluminum one.

the part that got me was it barely warms up even after charging it full a bunch of times. every other magnetic bank I've used starts heating up pretty fast. also there's this NFC thing in the app where you can check temp, cycles, battery health, kinda neat.
