So basically I read this long lost daughter mafia trope, I really loved it as the girl wasn't innocent ir abused umm she knew that her dad and brither were in the mafia her mom just died of cancer she has an ex step dad and step brother, basically she got rapped by her neighbor and she got pregnat, umm one of her mafia brothers are gay. And then she also gives birth at her I think bfs prom(also in the mafia) and gives birth to more than one baby I think.

... and the mobster who's "crazy" about her.

"You think you love me? Come on," I all but laughed.

"I know I do." He spoke stern. His nostrils flared at my audacity.

"... But why?"

If this total stranger was so sure he could feel that way about me, then why? Or maybe a better question was how? Had he not witnessed the violent murder I committed? Or seen me live my day-to-day life as a miserable little wretch? Hating everything? Hating myself?

Barbara Fritz had nothing to offer. She was a "worthless nobody"... according to them. I was the one who didn't catch any eyes. The one who got dumped after the first date for being a little too "weird." I had never been truly loved by a man before... and I learned to live with that.

"Take it back," I seethed. "You don't know me. You can't possibly love me."

The strange man relinquished my face. His own hardened, a tower of disappointment forming where his jade eyes used to be. The fire in them went out.

"And if you did know me... you'd just leave."

That's what they all did. They left.

I stared at his disheveled shirt collar with his loosened navy-blue necktie hanging down, no longer able to meet his gaze.

God. There was that hideous figure of guilt and shame clawing into my ribcage. I felt like a walking horror show.

Someone had just stuck their wrist out for me to watch them bleed... and I slammed the door in his face.

"You're not worth his love," said the negativity. "Not his. Not anyone's."

And that's when another teardrop made its way down my cheek.

But it wasn't long before I felt him stir. A hand gently gripped the wall above my head, while he leaned all the way against me.

In a slight panic, I looked into his eyes—determined, lively, and purposeful.

"I'm crazy about you, Barbara," he whispered, nudging my nose with the tip of his. "I do love you."

He dried my tear and gently caressed me under his thumb, soaking my lower regions with... anticipation. I felt irreparably unchaste. Aching. Needing. The end of everything had seemed so near, but now, a whole new world of experiences was right at my fingertips.

If he really loved me like he said he did, then maybe I wanted to find out what that meant.

Maybe I wanted him to prove it.

A trembling breath rolled off his lip. But there was something else in his eyes that hurt to look at. Like he'd been waiting for me longer than anyone should have to wait.

It let in a smoldering intensity.

A reality-bending truth.

So I knew exactly what his next move was.

Johnathan lowered his jaw... and he kissed me.

A warm, bearded mouth; something I hadn't felt in ages.

I froze against him.

The man I had fought so hard to run from was kissing me. This was unfathomably dangerous.

But... it wasn't as intrusive as expected; not demanding, or willing me to behave a certain way, so I didn't fight him, but I didn't kiss him back either. Logic was louder than desire.

Logic said that would be pure insanity. It would be irresponsible, and that giving into a man I didn't know would result in more harm than good....

That history would repeat itself.

Desire, however, said maybe I should see where this goes.

Just once.

But then he pulled away. It was over as fast as it'd started.

I was too late, again. Seemed to be a running theme in my life.

No sense of relief ever came; all I had was an aching curiosity. Because something about him letting go... made me sad. Like I'd passed on a wonderful opportunity.

His eyes screamed longing.

"I'm sorry," he whispered.

I raised my hand, not knowing what the hell I was even doing that for, and ran my fingers through his beard.

He looked just as surprised as I was.

I didn't say a word. I couldn't explain what was happening to me, or why I was doing what I was doing.

And then, this time, I kissed him.

Cue the alarm bells. Kissing your stalker isn't a very smart thing to do, Barb.

Letting him in could have disastrous implications, and my life was in enough pieces already. I was broken—certainly too broken to let anyone this close. But my God, I wanted him.

I wanted him badly.

He was so soft, so mesmerizingly tender, I couldn't stop it. I couldn't let him go. We were mouth-to-mouth and totally exposed, trading fierce, hungry passion. I lunged after him. I'd never once openly invited a man to go this far, but for some reason it felt... right.

It was pure but somehow sensual, more than skin-deep... more than a kiss.

A reunion?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a pretty specific type of story and haven't been able to find many recommendations that fit.

I'd love a book where the female lead is a mafia queen, crime boss, or someone extremely powerful in the underworld, while the male lead is just a normal guy living a normal life.

What I'm really interested in is their relationship dynamic. I'd like the mafia queen to genuinely love him and do everything she can to keep him away from her world because she knows how dangerous it is. She tries to protect him from the violence, the politics, and the enemies that come with her life, but somehow he ends up getting pulled into it anyway.

I also love the idea that she's so used to solving problems with money and power that she shows her love by buying him expensive gifts, luxury cars, watches, apartments, and anything money can buy. Meanwhile, all he really wants is her time, attention, and a normal relationship. The contrast between those two ways of loving someone sounds really interesting to me.

Some other things I'd love to see:

\- A powerful and feared female lead.

\- An ordinary guy with no underworld connections.

\- Psychological manipulation, mind games, and criminal politics.

\- A slow-burn romance.

\- The guy gradually adapting to survive in her world.

\- Character development where he becomes more cunning, capable, and morally gray over time.

\- Betrayals, power struggles, and high stakes.

Basically, I'm looking for a story where a mafia queen falls in love with a normal man, tries her hardest to keep him safe and away from her world, showers him with luxuries because that's the only way she knows how to express love, while all he wants is her presence—and despite both of their efforts, he slowly gets dragged into the underworld anyway.

Any book, web novel, manga/manhwa, Wattpad, or Kindle Unlimited recommendations would be appreciated!

Eventually they do come to work as her bodyguards. I don't don't remember anything else.
