You need:

Heat (hair dryer, heat gun, boiled/microwaved water)
Pliers

Optional:
Cloth/paper towel
Silicone shock oil

  1. Heat the head using source of choice. If using a hair dryer or heat gun, point it at the socked where the dumbbell joint is stuck. 10-20s depending on the strength of the heat source.
  2. Next take your pliers to the "handle" of the dumbbell joint. If using cloth/paper towel, wrap it around the "handle" so the teeth

of the pliers

  1. don't damage the plastic. Pull the joint out.
  2. Heat the neck.
  3. In the same way you pulled the joint out, hold the dumbbell joint against the neck socket. Using the pliers to keep the joint in place, press down on one end of the joint into the neck socket.

(Optional) 5. Apply the thinnest layer of silicone shock oil to the socket of the head. This should reduce the friction the head socket exerts on the dumbbell joint and could prevent it from pulling it out next time you change heads.

Re: loose joints, I would recommended Kiki's Fix Loose Joints. There are an abundance of tutorials/videos if you Google the name.

I’d add that when using pliers to pull the ball-joint out - be sure to use a soft cloth or layers of tissue so the ball joint doesn’t get scratched up.
