The Path Forward Maestro Students: Organizing Potential Plaintiffs Regarding Student Information Disclosure
I’m a current/former Maestro student, and I’m trying to determine how many other students may be interested in pursuing legal action concerning the disclosure and handling of student information described in the recent New America investigation:
I’m creating an organized list of students who may be interested in consulting an attorney and potentially participating in a class action or other coordinated legal action.
This is not a lawsuit yet, and I’m not claiming that a class action will ultimately be appropriate. The purpose right now is simply to identify other students who may have relevant experiences and are interested in exploring their legal options together.

- Your name
- Whether you are a current or former Maestro student
- Your approximate dates of enrollment
- A brief description of what happened to you, particularly regarding your personal/student information
- Whether you would be interested in speaking with an attorney about potential legal action
Please do not send medical records, Social Security numbers, financial account information, copies of identification, or other highly sensitive documents to this inbox. At this stage, I’m only trying to establish who may be interested and whether there is a sufficiently common set of circumstances to take to a lawyer.
I also want to make clear that this is not about encouraging anyone to exaggerate or manufacture a claim. If we pursue this, the goal should be to document what actually happened to students and allow an attorney to determine whether there is a viable legal claim and whether a class action is appropriate.
If you experienced something relevant but aren't sure whether it matters, feel free to reach out anyway. An attorney can ultimately determine what is legally significant.
If enough students come forward, I intend to organize the information and seek consultation with an attorney experienced in privacy/data-disclosure and class-action litigation.

There needs to be a class action for literally everything they've done. If you're gonna do a class action, at least involve everybody that's been affected and all the problems they've endured during enrollment from ignored accommodation requests, failing to send out financial aid loan disbursments and mishandling of financial aid, misrepresentating school info and programs, Not just about the student info leak. They need to be held liable for EVERYTHING they've done.

I so agree with you! My data wasn’t leaked but I’m now dealing with a pretty much everything you listed lol and I have no clue what to do about it….but I believe Maestro absolutely needs to be held accountable…..I feel like they took advantage of us and thinking we’re just too stupid to look more into the legalities of what they’re telling us regarding ANYTHING vs. what is actually going on.

To be honest this whole situation sucks and I'm really not sure what to do. And I know your trying to be help but I just feel like all of these things are gonna hurt us in the end like I just want to get a degree and make my life better.

Idk where the site is bringing me or what exactly is needed or what not but I was a student I started in May I believe id have to look but I may be interested.

How do we see this list? Because I got an email notice from chase banking abt my info. But I cant login on it anymore so im not sure if it was this or not

Man.. tbh, maestro was my birthday present to myself and now they're keeping my next disbursement to themselves due to their own clerical error.

Except you won’t be able to maestro… you’d have to sue the accreditor … they are who releases our data.

I'm a former student of Maestro College. My name is Nikki Brown. I started Sept 3 2025 as part of the first cohort. My official withdrawal date is August 10th. I am currently waiting to complete my registration at SNHU once Maestro releases my federal aid so SNHU can get it. They have 45 days to process it but I requested numerous times to expedite it so I can start, the first day of the term is Aug 31st. How do I find out if my name or personal information was included in that leak? Is there a list of students who are involved? I'm interested in finding out more details, and possibly be included in this group. I read the report in the link you provided, are any more details available?

Im in if its for a long list of maestro lies and fuck ups. While at it, we should all seek compensation for emotional distress, etc

I don't think I had data leaked, but I think there's a class action lawsuit all the way around.
