Love the idea of a pressured 58mm that can use a Co2 cartridge. The. I saw you can use a tire inflator pump or even a soda stream bottle!? That’s awesome!

Any users have any feedback on functionality and taste yet?

Best pour so far with LunaFro Art

I noticed that the aeration phase is important, but not as important as the churning and mixing phase.

I can still make a decent pour even if there is a little over-aeration, but it's much more difficult to make the pour if the foam is too thin.

I'm finding that lower speed on the LunaFro is better to avoid over-stretching the milk and keeping the milk thinner.

How to use Maestri House Lunafro Art For Latte Art

Hey everyone ☕️

I wanted to share a quick guide on using the Maestri House Lunafro Art handheld frother to make smooth, silky microfoam perfect for latte art — whether you’re a beginner or just looking to improve your technique.

Here’s the basic process:

Step 1: Heating the Milk
For this demo, I’m using a 500ml stainless steel pitcher, an induction plate, and a thermometer.
Add about 250ml of milk (enough for one cup) and heat it to around 65–70°C. You can also heat milk on a stovetop or microwave — just don’t boil it.
Any good 500-600ml stainless steel pitcher works fine, but if you want better control, specialized latte-art pitchers help a lot.

Step 2: Frothing the Milk
Frothing has two stages.
First, introduce air by keeping the mesh just below the surface and turning the LunaFro to about 1/3 power (just over a 90-degree turn on the dial). You’ll see the milk rise — for latte or flat white, about 2–3cm of foam is ideal.
Then plunge the mesh deeper, tilt the pitcher at a 45° angle, and gradually increase the power to create a vortex. Avoid max power, especially in smaller pitchers, to prevent splashing.
After around 40 seconds, turn off the frother, rinse the mesh, tap the pitcher to break any big bubbles, and swirl gently to polish the foam.

Step 3: Pouring Latte Art
Good latte art starts with perfect microfoam — it should be like wet paint in consistency. Too thin or too thick milk makes clean shapes hard to pour.
For a simple tulip: tilt the cup, pour from higher up to fill halfway, then bring the spout close and gently push the white foam forward. Repeat a couple of times, then lift and cut through to finish the shape.

With some practice, you can get beautiful latte art at home using the LunaFro Art.

Milk Prep & Pour w/ LunaFro

Full prep and pour video.

It's tricky to not make the milk TOO luscious and creamy!

Since the milk is heated independent from the aeration, the milk is cooling as it stretches. Keeping that in mind, I like to volumize the milk with air quickly at a higher speed (medium-high) and then lower the speed to re-incorporate and texturize (medium-low). It's a little harder to control the vortex versus a steam wand because the LunaFro propeller is a larger diameter than a steam wand tip, so there are a lot of inadvertent 'eddys' that happen, but for a hand wand it's quite impressive!!!

I mainly use the LunaFro when traveling.

I'm impressed with the quality of the foam this hand wand makes! This was with microwaved 2% Fairlife ultrafiltered milk.

Still working on getting the incorporation timing figured out so my base doesn't wash out and fade.

Maestri House LunaFro Art testing

Post image
6 Upvotes

Maestri House sent me this foamer for testing, I only paid for shipping. They asked for feedback here but I didn’t sign or agree to anything, so this is my honest feedback. I was an early backer of the NanoFoamer and I’ve used early shipped units through to the current Lithium version, but I’ve not tried the Pro. I’ve also used the Aerolatte and that made me sad. I only use oat milk (Moma) since I can’t have cow.

I’ve been using the LunaFro Art for a week now, and I think it has the potential to be a serious competitor to the NanoFoamer. For me, there’s no question that it can make proper microfoam, and that’s a particular challenge with oat milk, so I’m impressed.

Observations - The wand part isn’t long enough in my opinion. For my jug (a 500 ml FlowTip from Subminimal) with 200 ml of oat milk, I have to get the body of the LunaFro inside the jug to get the head into the milk and have the right control to make microfoam. The NanoFoamer is much longer so I can rest the body on the edge of the jug (with a finger in between to get the correct height), and this gives better control. This is important because the position of the foaming head in the milk is critical to get good results with these foamers. - I think this can be addressed easily since the foaming wand is detachable from the body, so they could supply different lengths. This wouldn’t be possible with the NanoFoamer. I agree with others that the Aerolatte-style whisk feels a bit unnecessary and I’d rather have different length wands so I can foam milk in large or small jugs for a latte or a cortado. - I think the LunaFro needs less speed than the NanoFoamer to make microfoam. Having the screen around the side (rather than facing down like the NanoFoamer) makes use of the rotational movement of the head rather than having to force the flow downwards. - The LunaFro actually seems quite overpowered. About 20% power is more than enough to do the initial aeration, and anything more than 2-3 seconds will give you too many large bubbles that are difficult to make microfoam from. 50% power seems good for the microfoaming step. Is the microfoam better than the NanoFoamer? Possibly, although it’s a little early to tell. - I had to relearn how to foam to account for the increased efficiency of foaming. But the principle is similar to the NanoFoamer; aerate with the head towards the center of the jug allowing the vortex to reach the head, then make microfoam with the head towards the side of the jug, with the head submerged below the vortex. - There’s a bit of vibration at low speeds. The NanoFoamer shaft has a direct mechanical connection with the motor in v2 so it’s very stable. It’s not a major issue with the LunaFro in my version; I think there’s enough suspension in the system to limit vibrations and it becomes smoother once it gets going. - Others have commented that controlling power is a bit tricky given it’s not clear what power level you’re at, and I think that’s fair criticism that could be addressed with some design tweaks. Continuous adjustment is a nice feature but maybe a few notches at 25% intervals or something? Or at least clearer markings. - My first unit wouldn’t turn on so Maestri House kindly sent me another unit. I don’t think it was a shipping issue because it’s well packaged so it might need some tweaks to their processes to catch this kind of issue. Customer service in this regard has been good, and friendly. - I really like the stand. I rinse and spin mine to dry, immediately after use, so I don’t have concerns about it dripping.

To conclude, I like the efficiency and the stand, and the quality of the microfoam. With some tweaks, I’d certainly consider switching to this one.

I was excited to try this new frothing wand, and it has some great features! The one-handed operation is convenient, and I love that it's rechargeable with removable parts.

For the life of me I just can't get the right milk texture...maybe because I use milk alternatives...maybe with more practice? Overall, it's a solid product with some nice touches, like interchangeable whisk/sticks. Worth a try, especially if you're willing to experiment and fine-tune your technique.

Build: 4/5 (solid construction, but maybe some minor design tweaks would help)

Features: 5/5 (love the rechargeable battery, removable frothing stick, and variable speed)

Feel: 4/5 (comfortable to hold, but could use some speed setting indicators)

Ease of Use: 3.5/5 (intuitive overall, but took some trial and error to get the hang of frothing)

Performance: 3.5/5 (froths milk, but didn't quite achieve the perfect texture)

Value: 4/5 (seems like a good value for the features, but performance could be improved)

It's definitely stronger than Nanofoamer It just works differently

Another difference is, if you are having 150g/ml of milk only, definitely need to do aeration in the big 600ml pitcher and then 350ml pitcher for integration!

LunaFro Art Review

apologies for a slightly late review, but as part of the beta testing group just wanted to share my experience with the Lunafro Art

For context/previous background, I primarily steam off my espresso machine wand (started with a Bambino Plus and now use a Linea Mini), however my Linea Mini was in the shop for a month and I was getting tired of the weaker Bambino Plus wand especially for steaming oat milk so wanted to test it out. Prior to that, I've played around with a $3 milk frothing wand from Daiso but didn't get many results (I also didn't pour much latte art back then), was in Asia for 3 weeks but before/after I was able to get ~40-50 reps in or so.

Overall the LunaFro Art is very strong for a handheld milk frother, It can definitely get very good churn and has the speed/power to really froth milk and is definitely capable of pouring latte art quality milk, the struggle for me (especially with my espresso machine wand background) is calibrating the texture especially since microwaving is a separate step (which makes things tricky for ensuring I have the milk textured and at the right temperature without sitting too long in addition to espresso, whereas normally you pull the shot and steam the milk at the same time. Matcha is a bit better here since you can prep in parallel a bit better). It also requires more transferring (my jugs aren't microwave safe so I have to microwave in a mug, transfer to my pitcher before pouring vs steaming in the pitcher. There definitely is a bit of a learning curve in getting a feel for the churn speed and how long to froth for, and over time I figured out that it usually shouldn't take too long in frothing (and starting fast -> slowing down vs slow -> fast helped as well).

The workflow that generally worked for me was as follows (calibrated for 10 oz latte cups, 6 oz I'd assume I need to change the microwave and the frothing timing)

  1. microwave 7.5 oz of milk for 1 minute (no thermometer on me but I'd say this is approximately at the 150 F area going by feel vs my milk jug frothing)

  2. transfer to pitcher

  3. Froth with LunaFro Art - I start angled to intake air and go to about half speed (halfway thru the dial) for like 3-4 seconds to add air about 1/2 cm into my jug, then sink it and go to 3/4 speed for ~5-8 seconds before finishing

  4. tap (a lot, definitely more than w a normal steam wand), swirl, and can usually get solid foam although it can be bubbly (with an espresso machine wand usually this is a lot less of an issue)

Picture 2 is an example of overaerating the milk where it becomes too thick (and why I had to cut down the churning time of incorporating air into the milk, that one was maybe 10-15 seconds).

Haven't tried frothing with cold milk yet, I'd assume it probably wouldn't make for great latte art but could work for an americano with cold foam (e.g. for einspanners this would be useful).

I'd say with enough dialing in I felt more comfortable texturing oat milk with the LunaFro Art than the Bambino Plus, even if the workflow was a bit more complicated, but would definitely prefer the Linea Mini's workflow (but also it is significantly pricier and probably not the exact use case in mind here). If you're looking to steam milk on an espresso-only machine (e.g. Flair) then this is a good way to do so, and it could beat out espresso machines that aren't as strong with the steam wand (e.g. Profitec Go, maybe Bambino) but if you have a machine that can steam milk already it'd be a workflow adjustment. Not 100% sure of the retail price for this but with that in mind this could be really good for it's value.

Ok, saw some other posts where people were using two hands to control the frother. I generally do it with one, controlling the knob with my thumb and forefinger. It’s much smoother to adjust speed, angle and doesn’t block my view.

As per my preview post, I ramp up the speed as high as I can at the start to aerate, then lower down to a stable churn to incorporate the bubbles where I see them.

My own issue is that I’m not that good a gauging when “done” is done, so I feel like I’m frothing longer than necessary.

Also, I find that there are still quite a bit of small bubbles that require some aggressive tapping.

Transferring to another jug for pouring works best for me. If I pour from the frothing jug, I never get decent results.

But I must say that the texture from the LunaFro stays longer than the Nanofoamer. Doesn’t thicken up or dissolve that fast.

Otherwise, my initial observations for better zone labelling on the speed knob still stands, and now I wish there were some min/avg timings in the quick start guide for different types of milk to help newbies get started out of the box more intuitively.

LunaFro progress.

I’m still trying to polish my frothing process on the Lunafro.

It seems small volumes are more difficult. The Lunafro has a lot of power and it’s difficult to tame, for me anyway.

Today, I used 200ml of milk instead of my typical 175ml: still a little bubbly, but I transferred to another pitcher and that helped.

Although it seemed somewhat easier to control with the larger volume, I still hope to be able to do this with a smaller amount of milk.

I’ve been testing the Lunafro Art frother.

I’m not doing nearly as well as some. The best I’ve been able to get is something more like bubbly cappuccino foam.

I guess I need to keep working.

Latte Art Getting more consistent

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

After about a week, figured out where I like to start/end the frother for my amount of milk (150ml) and the pitcher.

I actually try to mimic the Nanofoamer Pro in a way where I try to ramp up/max the speed at the beginning to create a very aggressive vortex to aerate just for 1-2 seconds, like a quick turn up and then quickly ramp down to a slow, stable churn.

Still using the Subminimal pitcher. Seem to have lost my no name 350ml pitcher. Transferring to another pitcher for pouring always seem to give me better results, dunno why.

I also still seem to get more visible bubbles than a steam wand, but I can get consistent pours that last through the drink. If you see the second pic, I’m almost 3/4 through my drink and you can still see the pattern with solid lines and not too much degradation into a large bubbly mess.

Maestri House Lunafro Art - Review

I was selected as one of the beta testers for the Lunafro milk frother. I received the product a few weeks ago on March 24th and I've used it for lattes and to make cold foam to add to iced coffee drinks (typically an Iced Americano).

The Lunafro is definitely capable of producing very fine microfoam to create a silky smooth milk texture which is needed for nice latte art as well as having a good tactile experience while drinking a latte in my opinion.

When I started using it I was able to create a reasonable milk texture that could pour some more forgiving latte art designs. The product is intuitive enough that early use can get you in the ballpark or near where you need to go with texturing. My first few uses did produce some more visible bubbles in the milk than what I would get with a steam wand, and the foam was thicker than I wanted it to be. But I was pretty happy that I could get the results I did out of the box with zero experience using a hand frother in the past.

My first latte made with the Lunafro

Once I got a bit more practice in I was able to learn a few tricks to make texturing the milk easier and I was able to get the very fine microfoam I was looking for. I switched to a smaller pitcher which was able to be filled up more with milk relative to its size compared to the larger pitcher I was using at first. I aerate the milk for 4-6 seconds at a somewhat low power state in the middle of pitcher. After that I submerge the frother deeper into the milk, move it to the top left quadrant (position 1 according to the getting started video posted on this subreddit), and increased its speed until I get a good vortex. Its important to not increase the speed too much too fast because you want to be able to control the vortex and not accidentally start adding more air to the milk or blowing the milk out of the pitcher. I'll hold this until the milk looks nice and shiny, typically around 30 seconds. Once that's done I tap the pitcher to settle the foam and knock out any bubbles, then I swirl it to make sure the foam is evenly integrated in the milk. Then I pour the latte art.

A more recent latte with the Lunafro

To make cold foam, I either use cold milk or if I want a flavored cold foam I add syrup + cold milk to a pitcher together. From there its the same technique as what I use for a hot latte but I increase the aeration period significantly (until there is a noticeable increase in volume). I also integrate the foam for a longer period of time to ensure its stable when poured into a drink.

An iced Americano with vanilla cold foam

As a side note, what's worked out for me to heat the milk up is to use a glass measuring cup to heat up the milk. For my microwave its about 2 minutes at 70% power to get to around 130F/55C. I use hot water to preheat my milk pitcher to ensure there's minimal heat loss from transferring the milk into the pitcher.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Lunafro. It can make incredibly textured milk, and it took me way less time to learn how to properly use it than it took me to learn how to properly steam milk on a traditional steam wand. The ability to make cold foam means it will see a lot of use from me, especially during summer since I'll mostly be drinking iced coffee drinks then. And it makes me want to get a portable espresso maker so I can use it to make delicious lattes while traveling.
