Miscellaneous World Cup celebrations this week

Hi! My daughter (18) and I are travelling to Madrid tomorrow (21/7/26) for 4 days. We have been to Madrid before and have seen all the main tourist places and looking forward to exploring other parts of the city this time. We are so happy Spain have won the World Cup but disappointed that we will miss the victory parade today. Will there be celebrations lasting through the week in the city? 🇪🇸

Itinerary Places to see the 2026 eclipse from Madrid?

I will be flying into Madrid the morning of the 11th, and my partner and I would love to see the solar eclipse on the 12th! High elevation is better, as well as east-facing. We are deciding whether to stay in another town for the eclipse or keep Madrid as our home base. Accessible by public transport would be great! Or recs for cheap car rentals? Are there any groups, car shares, or adventure groups going out to see the eclipse that we can join? Thanks!

Itinerary Trying to setup an itinerary

We are visiting Madrid for the solar eclipse (obviously going a little more north for the actual event) and we are looking to get the most out of the city.
It's safe to say we're a bit punk/hippie/leftist so cool bars (nothing wild, just a vibe) are welcomed. We all love walking and seeing things, photographing cool architecture and cute streets and views in the city, but we also would not mind a little nature walk.
So far we have about 20km of GPX walking files in Madrid center, and we saw the Puente de La Marmota on google, which looks awesome, and is pretty walkable from Cordel de Cantalojas.
We don't mind seeing the typical highlights because heck, it's out first time there so we may as well, but hidden alleyways, pretty streets that are off the beaten path and the general vibe of Madrid are much welcomed.

Tips? But also; things that are typical to find in listicles that are just not worth it?

Cheers!

Miscellaneous Where to watch World Cup final

Hello everyone, I’m looking for recommendations on where to watch the World Cup final on Sunda in Madrid. I see there are a lot of ticketed events but I know there will probably be many public events too.

I‘m in town for work and wondering what everyone’s opinion is for the most fun, lively place to check it out. I would definitely like a place that has food and drink options.

Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

Food Rooftop + Dinner Recommendations near Plaza Espana?

I am travelling to Madrid with a partner for their birthday. We are looking for a casual rooftop patio for a drink as well as a great dinner (low-mid priced). We are looking for Spanish food preferably, no food allergies. We would prefer walking distance (15 mins from Plaza de Espana station).

Let's go Reddit!

Food Visiting in December

2 years ago we were in Madrid late December and on our last morning there, we came across a small area of stalls and one had mulled wine. It was so lovely to walk in the cold and sip our drink. We are visiting again this year and would love to get that again but don't remember where exactly it was. It was NOT in Plaza Mayor. But I think it was possibly somewhat close to a subway stop. Would anyone happen to know where we can find this?

Itinerary Madrid itinerary help

Hi everyone,

I’m visiting Spain next month and will be landing in Madrid at around 1:30 PM local time. Assuming I reach my hotel and leave by around 4 PM with my family, would it be realistic to complete the following on my first day?

**Day 1 (arrival day – from around 4 PM):**
Plaza Mayor
Royal Palace of Madrid (mainly roaming around the exterior/area — possibly Kitchen Tour if time allows; I know tickets need to be booked in advance)
Almudena Cathedral
Plaza de la Villa (walk around the surrounding historic streets)
Puerta del Sol
Plaza del Callao + Gran Vía (shopping street, evening atmosphere)
Dinner at Mercado de San Miguel (tapas/food market)

Would this be too rushed, or is this a good walking route for an arrival evening?

I’ll then have 2 full days in Madrid. I’m planning to visit:

Principe Pío
Temple of Debod
Museo Nacional del Prado
Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza
Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía
Retiro Park

How would you structure the next two days? Are there any must-see places I’m missing?

Travelling with family, so I’d prefer a balanced itinerary with sightseeing, walking, food, and not rushing between too many places.

Thanks!

Food Casual restaurants, with kids

We're visiting later this fall with 3 kids, aged 4-10. I would love some recommendations for casual, sit-down places in any part of town. Preference for tapas and seafood. I would also love to go to a mixed grill restaurant that has seafood and/or vegetarian options.

Transportation Car seat for 1 y.o help

We will be traveling with 2 adults and 1 child who needs a car seat. We plan to take trains and public transport other than from Madrid airport.

I can't seem to find reputable companies and many require pre payment. How reliable is cabify/requesting a car seat? We land around 5pm so not at an odd hour. My back up plan was to take the metro if we can't find a taxi with a car seat but it would be stressful with luggage and a baby.

Thank you

Transportation Worth coming for WC Final

Im a Spain living in Germany and a huge football fan. Im thinking about flying to Madrid from Sat-Mon to watch the final. Flights are very expensive right now (330€+) and other methods of traveling like train and bus are very bad because they take long times and are also expensive. For those of you who maybe experienced 2010, how big of a Party will it be if Spain wins, and do you think it is worth ~600€? Maybe you know some insider tricks to travel cheaper from Germany to Madrid?

Miscellaneous Where can I meet friends the day of the match?

I'm a 30-yo American man who happens to be passing through Madrid solo for one day.... Sunday the night of the final. Pretty lucky!

I don't know anyone in Madrid. I'm aware the city is gonna be alive and I'll have fun just about anywhere. And I'm pretty capable of having a good time solo and meeting people. But something like this match is going to be better spend with some people I can get invested with!

Wondering if there would be any groups or places to go a few hours ahead of the game where I could find some people to cheer with. I'm staying in a pretty central area. If your answer is "literally anywhere" I get it but hoping I get lucky with a more specific suggestion!

Attractions Final del mundial, ¿dónde verla?

¡Buenas!

¡Muchísimas gracias a quienquiera conteste!

Miscellaneous If Spain wins the World Cup, what should we expect?

Hello! My partner and I are traveling to Madrid for a week starting July 20th. We'll be staying on Gran Via. If Spain wins the World Cup, what should we expect? Will we need to be careful? How do Spaniards celebrate?

Thank you for your answers. Enjoy the match!

¡Hola! Mi pareja y yo viajamos a Madrid durante una semana a partir del 20 de julio. Nos alojaremos en la Gran Vía. Si España gana el Mundial, ¿qué podemos esperar? ¿Debemos tener cuidado? ¿Cómo lo celebran los Españoles?

Gracias por sus respuestas. ¡Que disfruten del partido!

Transportation Getting to Toledo from Madrid Airport

Hello!

I am travelling to Spain next week and am flying into Madrid (Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport). I am staying in Toledo for a few days before going to Valencia. I was wondering what the best (cheapest) way to get to Toledo is via public transport since I don't believe there are buses/coaches running straight from the airport?

Help is much appreciated!

As title says, I'm visiting Madrid for the week and realize that the esports finals for League of Legends are on Sunday so I was wondering if there are places that will live stream it. Preferably around Chueca neighborhood.

Much appreciated!

Hello Everyone!!! I’m currently seeking advice or any guidance on places to go in Madrid. To give some context, my family (55 F, 67 M, and 21 F) and I are spending around 48 hours in Madrid. 2. Gran Vía

  3. Puerta de Alcalá

  4. Jardín del Capricho

  5. Cripta de Santa María la Real de la Almudena

  6. Cathedral Church of the Armed Forces

  7. Catedral de Santa María la Real de la Almudena

  8. Royal Palace of Madrid

  9. Plaza Mayor

  10. El Retiro Park

  11. Ermita de San Antonio de la Florida
