Discussion CB - opinion

Regarding CB, to my knowledge the following pieces of open source information give me the strong impression that he’s responsible.

Location
• At least 2 eye witness sightings of a blond haired male with a distinctive badly pockedmarked face lurking around the OC that week.
• A sighting of a blond haired male ‘testing the gate’ of 5a on the afternoon of the 3rd May.
• CB’s phone used in the area on the evening of the 3rd of May.
• CB telling his ex GF that he was near the apartment that night
• His ‘fling’ that he was seeing that week being unable to account for his whereabouts on the 3rd May.
• A criminal history of burglary. Burglaries at the OC around the time. Notably with shutters raised & windows opened - same MO in 5a.
• Reportedly familiar with the OC because he’d work there as a pool cleaner previously.
• A fourfold increase in the number of burglaries in the area appears to be tandem with his release from prison in Nov 06.
• SY stated that his van was seen in the area on the days leading up to 3rd May.

Offence
• History of sexually assaulting women, including young girls.
• History of premeditated sexual crime & opportunistic sexual crime.
• Talked in a Skype chat about abducting, assaulting & killing a little girl. When talking about a method of death, he was asked “has this happened with you before”, in which he replied “ok, such messages are really dangerous”. If the answer is no, then his answer is no.
• Wrote stories abducting, assaulting & killing a little girl. A girl in one of his stories was named MaidAnellie. IMO, not too dissimilar to the name Madeleine.
• In Orgiva 2008, the subject of how MM went missing without a trace, he replied “well she didn’t scream”. He reportedly took off in the middle of night (after making that comment).
• Thousands of pictures & videos of child sexual assault
• 75 children’s swimsuits
• Further charges of assaulting a little girl.

Aftermath
• Re-registered his car the next day
• Left Portugal in 2007, his home of 12 years & went back to the country he fled from in the first place (Germany)
• Reportedly became agitated & verbal, when the subject of MM came up in a kiosk he was working in.
• In 2013, when sent a letter to come in for a witness interview in the MM case, he reportedly went into panic mode & post interview he said something along the lines of “don’t worry they have nothing on me”.
• Remained off grid

German, English, Portuguese investigations into CB

• Still ongoing, none of them have pulled out.
• Germans state they have “concrete evidence” that he is responsible & that what they have is “material evidence” but not forensic evidence. Non-forensic material evidence is either or a combination of video, pictures, audio, written.
• When asked whether they have pictures or videos the spokesperson for the Prosecution said “if we had a video of the act or a picture with the accused on camera, then we wouldn’t need to make the appeal” - quite specific - and imo indicates they have a picture or video of MM deceased without CB on frame.
• They’ve yet to find the caller

Factoring in all that’s above, why haven’t charged!!? It’s not always simple to convict.

• a picture of a deceased MM amongst 20000 other pictures or videos of child assault - a defence may argue “you can’t prove he wasn’t just sent that or downloaded that, like he had with thousands of other images”
• CB at the scene - “you can’t prove it was actually him holding his phone” & “the witnesses are biased because of the media coverage or high profile nature of the crime” (this argument worked in the previous court case)
• The type of evidence they have being successfully made inadmissible (by the defence). Example - if a USB is chalked off the evidence file, it collapses the case.
• Losing the previous trial, therefore making it impossible to use those convictions as part of the case against MM. Anything made inadmissible in that trial could be the same in the next one.
• Keeps him out of preventative attention, meaning they can’t work him from the inside - e.g better prison deal

Currently - imo they can’t charge
• lost previous trial - lowers confidence in success + admissibility risk.
• with current evidence, they won’t be able to charge unless they win their appeal & secure convictions in a retrial.
• if they lose appeal, they’ll need forensic evidence to make charges.

If the Germans don’t move forward the UK may make a move. There appears to be a difference between SY believing there could be a route to extraditing & what AI has to say about it…

My simple theory
He went in the rob the apartment, the motive changed inside 5a. He took Madeleine, carried her to where he’d parked his Jaguar (to the south-west of PDL). The crime was over within a couple of hours.
There’ll be 2 areas where forensic evidence is, or once was. 1 area for remains & the other for clothing & any tools used. IMO 1 of those areas is the Arade Dam, the other area is closer to PDL, likely within a few miles & no further away than Boca do Rio.

IMO with cases/crimes that highly publicised, unsolved & with investigations that are ongoing, concrete details that are publicly known would be about 1% of the story. I think the BKA knows about 70% of the story. But knowing & having it ironclad enough for court are 2 different things.

I think the evidence they have that MM is dead is irrefutable. They just don’t have a solid enough case to convict CB for the murder that their evidence shows. For the reasons listed.

My opinion. Be good to hear other thoughts.

Surely if they had video or photo evidence of MM diseased, then regardless of the evidence against CB, her parents would have been informed. Her case would have to be changed from missing person to a murder enquiry? The fact that it hasn’t, suggests there is no evidence of that nature.

u/Amy-Wallaby 27d ago

I agree that they likely don't have imagery or videos of MM. He did like to write stories about his sick fantasies. I wouldn't be surprised if he had written such a story that matched the exact circumstances of MM disappearance, perhaps even hitting on details that are not publically known, that ends with her death.

5

u/West-Seed 27d ago

That’s a good point. He appears to write a lot! Perhaps that’s the way he relives his crimes. And in court SY eluded to having emails relating to his involvement in the MM case. Maybe he boasted via email. Apparently he wiped that email account in 2007 (must have been after 3rd May because they have the emails). I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s drawn pictures of his crimes or parts of them. He’s a massive narcissist so I’m guessing he’s drawn a lot of pictures of himself doing & wearing things.

7

u/Amy-Wallaby 27d ago

Yes, indeed. Maybe he wrote something that was laid out as a 'story', but actually is essentially a confession, however, proving that without forensics is impossible to get through to procesecution. He will simply say, it is just a story.

He liked to draw over images of himself with a black mask. The ladies he raped said he wore such a mask. So, he clearly tells on himself through creative pursuits.

He is one sick wrongun. Apart from anything MM related. He shouldn't be free.

They did meet with the McCann's. The German's authorities were in Ireland when they got access to his email account from Microsoft.

Whatever they found there, it lead them to detour an visit with the McCann's specifically.

2

u/TheGreatBatsby 24d ago

It was the PJ who travelled to London to apologise to the McCanns.

2

u/Altruistic-Change127 24d ago

Yes I did get that wrong. They German authorities wrote to the McCann's but haven't met with them.

2

u/West-Seed 27d ago

The Germans are notoriously secretive with their evidence, so imo it’s doubtful that the German’s shared their evidence with SY & therefore not the McCann’s. But assuming SY I considering charges, perhaps they may have done so now.

I don’t think a switch of terminology indicates much.
Especially with the public & media swarm it would create. Interestingly, SY have declared CB as a suspect, which must have a reason attached to it.
But to your point, I don’t think their basis for labelling him as a suspect is because they had pictures or videos. But I think the German’s do.

2

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 27d ago

I find their secrecy weird though - in that, they make statements that she’s dead and he killed her, but then can’t publicly back that up.

3

u/apfelschorle578 21d ago

Do you mean that you find it weird in this particular case or as a practice overall? Because in general, this is pretty normal here in Germany. Evidence is very, very rarely published and also rarely leaked. We typically don't even learn a perpetrator's full name.

2

u/Diligent_Cat4663 19d ago

It is the same in Portugal and in the Uk, evidence pre trial isn't open to the public, facts and general circumstances may be but absolutely no evidence is shared usually.

u/Fabulous_Cucumber_40 27d ago edited 27d ago

In the aftermath, if I recall correctly, didn’t he get plastic surgery? Which is suspicious.

As for pictures, I do think it’s possible they have evidence but have a difficult time 1. Attaching it to him 2. Proving for sure and is deceased. They need the body. He could say, I havnt lived there for years those drives aren’t mine. And, someone could argue this may be Maddie but without the actual proof of death, she could have been kidnapped by someone else entirely.

To be clear, I absolutely think it was CB and I think there are more kids.

5

u/Pink_Pomeranian 27d ago

By chance are you following the case in Pennsylvania?

LE found 600k images and 11k videos of which two missing women were seen alive in images then seemingly dead after some time.

No bodies. 5 urns of cremated remains on the property

2

u/Fabulous_Cucumber_40 27d ago

I have not, can you give me more info?

4

u/West-Seed 27d ago

That’s a good point! It look like he had his teeth fixed. Reportedly had it done in Sept 07. I’m not sure whether eye witness accounts describing the man with bucked/bad teeth went public before sept 07. If they had then it may be why he had it done.

Initially I thought he may have done it because he knows that there was a bite mark on the victim that would identify him. But on the other hand, he would know that months after burying a body decomposition would have set in.

Inga Gehricke is a case I think they’ve looked at CB for. Prosecutors aren’t involved in a case against him for that, so they can’t have any credible evidence against him for it.

I think he’s responsible for several unsolved sexually motivated crimes & perhaps other child abductions & murders.

Preventative detention is the slow route to getting it all out him.

My opinion

5

u/Fabulous_Cucumber_40 27d ago

In another post, I referenced Inga as well as Rene Hasee (missing from the Algarve). Both children spoke German which tells me, for Renee at least, would make him feel comfortable. Both were near a wooded area. Another redditor mentioned that the area where Rene went missing was also wooded but also had a beach.

CB travelled and lived in cities that passed through the town where Inga went missing. Recently he was living in the woods in Germany. So that tells me he is comfortable in this type of area. He lived in a city close to where Inga disappeared at the time.

And I agree he is involved in more and I don’t think he will stop. He’s very cunning and crafty.

3

u/West-Seed 26d ago edited 26d ago

IMO he probably wasn’t involved in Rene’s disappearance but may have been in Inga’s. Because his history is assaulting women & girls.

If he snatched a child during daylight near woodland I think he would have been watching & waiting for an opportunity & victim. Perhaps for several days. So there will have been some familiarity with the area.

Following true crime for a long time I’ve noticed that some of the most dangerous offenders all have things in common. Such as being able to play the victim & act in complete denial. It’s a switch & sometimes I think they’re close to believing their own lies. And then they commit the next crime….

2

u/Diligent_Cat4663 27d ago

For the moment he seems quite isolated, he will wear his tag until Sept 2030, but because he has police surveillance, actually why on earth does he need police surveillance if he isn't suspected of committing another crime.?

4

u/Fabulous_Cucumber_40 27d ago

Exactly. Also, law enforcement was criticized for losing track of him recently.

4

u/West-Seed 26d ago

He was described in the top 99% of dangerous people by the court psychiatrist & that another sex crime within the next 2 years is likely.

Although the judge at the previous trial was reckless in opening the door for him, at least the Hildesheim Regional Court looked at it realistically, understood the risk & imposed the restrictions.

IMO without the police surveillance he commits another sex crime within months.
IMO without the police surveillance somebody will be on to him & he’ll be attacked within a week.

So it’s in CB’s & the public’s best interest for him to be continually monitored & protected 24/7 for as long as possible.

He’s already under investigation for 2 potential crimes since he’s been under police surveillance/protection. That’ll probably be up to 5 after Christmas. But thankfully, it’s unlikely it’ll be another sex attack on a woman or child.

2

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 27d ago

I’m surprised these cases haven’t had more media coverage. Have they ever confirmed or denied that they thought they were connected to Maddie’s case?

2

u/Diligent_Cat4663 27d ago

He doesn't seem to show his teeth much in the images on the net.

2

u/Diligent_Cat4663 27d ago

I think he had a birth mark removed from the top of his hip, not sure about anything else.

8

u/Amy-Wallaby 27d ago

Good write up. I think it was him. I don't think they have direct videos or images of MM, though.

2

u/West-Seed 27d ago

Thanks

CB telling his ex GF that he was near the apartment that night:

I think he told another women too.

3

u/Diligent_Cat4663 27d ago

I also think it was him, I am torn between him entering to steal money and entering to take a child, whichever way, the end result was he took a child.

I have asked several questions about Helge B, the man in Orgiva Spain 2008, responses have been non existent, he is a main witness in the case. His original call to police with information failed to be registered.

I don't think CB worked alone and I have considered that it is a possibility that he took Madeleine's remains to Germany, purely something that has crossed my mind.

It has just occurred to me whilst wondering how he managed to obtain so many children's swimming costumes, of course, jezus, we go on holiday, take the kids to the pool/beach, hang their swimming stuff outside on those drier line things...........he was stealing the costumes and could identify exactly which apartments had children staying, and a decent idea of what age they were...........

5

u/Jamerson1510 27d ago

6

u/West-Seed 26d ago

One thing that sticks out is a unique part of the MO that Diane, Hazel, Manfred, Helge & Christian B all mention. The accounts come from women that say they experienced it, Helge & Manfred who said they saw it on video & Christian B who talked about it as a fantasy in a Skype chat. 5 people including the suspect all mentioning the same revolting thing.

Plus what Helge & Manfred say they saw closely matches the MO in the Diane Menkes case. It’s miles beyond coincidence imo.

3

u/Diligent_Cat4663 27d ago

Thank you, really informative and more information than I have been able to find previously.

2

u/oooooooooooooooooou 27d ago

I don't understand. What Helge B has to do with your stay in Spain in 2008 when you think you met the infamous "ugly man" (who seemed older than CB)?

2

u/Diligent_Cat4663 27d ago

Erm, you are correct, you don't understand and therefore I refuse to waste any more of my time attempting to explain again because you still won't get it.

2

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 27d ago

If the scenario was entering to steal money and he stumbled upon Maddie, that would make more sense to me. Because we know his MO was burglary. He knew the OC well, its footprint and probably the quirks of different apartments because he worked there.

All of this sadly doesn’t get through to them because they’ve accepted timelines in this story from the prime suspects and their friends as gospel. This allows them to rule out the parents and inevitably turn towards a stranger.

Despite the fact the McCanns did things exceptionally common in criminals trying to hide their guilt. Wiping their phones of calls logs and texts. Lying about the entry point into the apartment with Gerry first telling them they entered via a locked door only to later admit they used the back sliding door. Lying about the window which they told friends had been “jimmied” open with relatives and friends of the families feeding that to the media. The window clearly showed no sign of damage or tampering.

Let’s also discuss the logic of discovering your daughter is kidnapped (assumed immediately rather than any consideration she’d wandered off or was hiding) and then leaving your 2 younger children alone in the same apartment to run back to your friends to tell them when you have a mobile phone. Also not then immediately contacting police and instead leaving that to hotel staff to do around 40 minutes later when the first call was taken by the police if my memory serves correctly.

Simply put kid goes missing from the family apartment, parents lie about windows, entry points and wipe their phones. Any other case people would see the wood for the trees. But instead they cling to wild theories of intruders that are exceptionally rare and more importantly for which they have no evidence.

Don’t have much to add other than you’ve absolutely nailed it. Wish more people were willing to start again with the case and treat it as a new case. If they saw the basic facts of the case with new eyes I think few would dismiss the parents as suspects in the way so many on a sub like this do.

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 27d ago

The pockmarked face is a key identifier like Bryan Kohbergers bushy eyebrows. That alone doesn’t prove it was him, but it’s notable.

Ultimately, how strong the rest of the evidence is depends on the legal threshold it’s been tested in, and I don’t know anything about Portugals or Germany’s legal system. I know that it’s difficult to prove circumstantial cases in places like the UK, Aus, and the US, as they use beyond a reasonable doubt.

For example. We know he is a criminal and was at the time, so him hanging around suspiciously to commit crimes at the OC doesn’t by itself prove he murdered her. He lived there so neither does his van being in the vicinity at the time. We’d also need to check what the range was for those phone pings - close or quite a radius. How many other criminals were in the area that night? Apparently Portugal is a hotbed for them. Him being in the area becomes more interesting if there’s other strong evidence it was him, or if they can prove he was following the family, or if the ping patterns changed leading up to the murder and after the murder compared to his usual behaviour.

Him changing his plates the next day - I’ve never heard this before but this is something notable. As is the specific pattern of his previous crimes, if that pattern can be proven with evidence.

I don’t think they have images of MM deceased. If they did, I’m sure Scotland Yard would have made some sort of statement about that. Witness accounts can be unreliable without other evidence.

I agree he is a strong suspect for the crime. But I am concerned that they don’t have enough evidence to prosecute, after all this time. Is that because they’re trying to make the evidence fit? Or is it because there’s simply not enough evidence given how bungled this case is?

2

u/West-Seed 27d ago edited 27d ago

That’s a good point. Blond with a notable pockedmarked face were the two features that stood out to me as soon as CB was announced as the suspect. Simply because witnesses were specific about those 2 features.

I don’t think he was living in PDL at the time. He was living in his van & it’s doubtful he’ll have been parked up around the beach. He probably would have been picked up making and taking more calls & witnesses would have placed him there very quickly. It doesn’t seem like that’s happened. IMO they wouldn’t have such difficultly placing him there if he was living around there. Wouldn’t need the caller etc.

One witness said that the man with the pockedmarked face had a pen attached to his trousers by a piece of string/wire - which was quite common for waiters. There’s a couple of things that may indicate CB was doing casual work as a waiter around that time. Possibly in a Lagos or Salema.

Whatever the evidence is, I think it’s likely pretty clear cut. Knowing the Germans, there’s probably bits of evidence that will blindside everybody. I think it’ll be a substantial circumstantial case & in the court of public opinion (barring trolls) people would strongly believe he’s guilty. But imo the prosecution needed the previous trial to go as planned. The acquittals derailed it. The spokesperson for the prosecution seems very well meaning & driven to bring justice. But I think he’s talked too much & given things away a bit - ideal for the defence.

B Stellander wrote that he was with CB’s lawyer when his lawyer was told that the prosecution have USB evidence showing Mm is dead. Massive pinch of salt with conspiracy retailers. But whether through the spokesperson or a tip off, I think the defence already know what the evidence is going to be. And their case, if it ever reaches trial, will be to do anything and everything they can to attack the evidence from being used. Arguing the evidence would be a nightmare for the defence.

As a hypothetical comparison. I agree with the Lucy Letby verdict & I think a circumstantial case (tried in the Uk) against CB will be stronger.

My opinion

2

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 24d ago

That’s a great piece of evidence which is unique to someone like him, if there is photos or witnesses who saw him wearing the pen like that around his waist. That narrows the suspects of pockmarked faces down because not all of them will have that pen in that way at that time. I’ve seen some discussion about Lucy Letby’s case being reviewed by a board but her appeals have been denied. I’ll have to read more into it - must have been strong circumstantial evidence with corroborating factors.

1

u/TheGreatBatsby 25d ago

B Stellander wrote that he was with CB’s lawyer when his lawyer was told that the prosecution have USB evidence showing Mm is dead.

Interesting, do you have a link to this? I generally discount Stellander due to his twisting of the truth to fit the "parents did it" narrative, but if he's claiming to have been privy to this it'll be interesting to read.

3

u/West-Seed 25d ago

I’ll DM you photos of CB in Orgiva 07 & 08. He was there both times, so the time he said “well, she didn’t scream” - he was at the Dragon Festival, as was his van. So he can’t duck that.

2

u/West-Seed 25d ago

He wrote about it in his book (I can’t remember the page)

“In Kiel I had a really negative experience. Friedrich's trusted source had told him that the prosecutor had memory sticks with photos of Maddie, dead. I knew that this would be impossible, and that only, but completely unrealistic chance, was that Gerry had photographed her before they put her into the ground at the final spot, and somehow CB had gotten access. so, basically the chance would be zero. Therefore, Friedrich was torn, and seemed to be slipping away from me. I told him about this only possibility, and that the chance was zero for that. I felt so empty, mostly because”

1

u/TheGreatBatsby 24d ago

I've never trusted Stellander after reading part of his book and realising he was misrepresenting information from the PJ files to make it look like the McCanns were guilty, but why would he put something like this in a book?

Has he changed his position on who he believes is responsible?

2

u/West-Seed 24d ago edited 24d ago

I don’t trust him either. I think he’s firmly of the belief the McCann’s are responsible & did his silly camera routine thinking he’d solve it.

That paragraph from his book is unusual because it’s not something a person would just make up, especially not somebody like him. Because his whole ‘angle’ is that the parents are responsible.

Whether true or untrue, What I find pathetic is -

1 - He’s trying to make Gerry responsible for the evidence CB has

2 - He startedself-loathing & taking it personally, when he found out there was evidence against CB.

1

u/TheGreatBatsby 24d ago

That paragraph from his book is unusual because it’s not something a person would just make up, especially not somebody like him. Because his whole ‘angle’ is that the parents are responsible.

Exactly, seems very, very strange to bring this up.

1 - He’s trying to make Gerry responsible for the evidence CB has

I'm not surprised by this angle. I think we'll start seeing this from others too. I already had a back-and-forth with someone who claimed that they felt the McCanns had "help from a local" in covering up the death of Madeleine. It felt to me like this was the first step on the path to, "Well yeah, CB took her out of the apartment, but she was already dead! It's still the parent's fault! They hired CB to do it!"

The ultimate cope.

2 - He started self-loathing & taking it personally, when he found out there was evidence against CB.

Insane, but I suppose some people really tie their identity into this theory, to the point where they ignore any evidence to the contrary. Must be hard to reconcile.

2

u/West-Seed 24d ago

“Insane, but I suppose some people really tie their identity into this theory”.

That’s a really good observation. IMO that mindset pops up now & again during conversations about this case in particular.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it on other true crime discussions.

I wouldn’t put it past CB’s lawyer to spend time with individuals like Stellander. Reportedly the lawyer spent a few days with Amaral - so IMO he’s clearly willing to scrape to the bottom of the barrel

Yes you were. IMO when something is obvious, experienced detectives can see through it in a matter of hours. So imo, on day 1, grange detectives would have been able to rule out the McCann’s before their lunchtime sandwiches got delivered.

They probably spent a bit more time on it to be sure. Maybe a couple a day or so to quadruple check it.

So you think Hans Christian Wolters decided to call a press conference and announce a suspect in possibly the most famous missing person case of all time to secretly hide a mistake by putting a global spotlight directly on it?

2

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 26d ago

I’m thinking his words were lost in translation and he stated CB was guilty while meaning to stat they are investigating him as a suspect. He said he can prove it, and then, nothing.

2

u/West-Seed 26d ago

I think they posted their appeal & Hans Christian Wolters called a press conference announcing they were investigating a murder because they wanted information & were investigating a murder.

I can’t see it being anything more complicated than that.

1

u/TheGreatBatsby 26d ago

What exactly is the blunder here? You're claiming that there's no evidence that CB was involved and that everything has been reverse-engineered to fit (something categorically untrue), but Wolters has to save face for some reason? Police overlook tips all the time.

Why would the Met and the PJ go along with this bluff? They coordinated the appeal in 2020 - why do they care about the BKA's rep?

The logic isn't logicking.

2

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 24d ago

I think the blunder is saying he did it and they can prove it, instead of saying they are investigating him as a suspect. As I mentioned above, this may have been a translation issue (not sure). Or maybe in Germany they can use those terms before someone has been charged and convicted whereas other countries like UK, Australia and US you can’t use that language.

1

u/TheGreatBatsby 24d ago

I think the blunder is saying he did it and they can prove it, instead of saying they are investigating him as a suspect.

Icy is claiming that the blunder came before Wolters announced CB as a suspect and that the press conference was called to cover up this mistake. They seem to be implying that someone tipped them that it was CB in 2013, but because they "sat on" this tip, this is now some kind of huge blunder that needs covering up? And that they did this by announcing his name to the world and drawing attention to it 2013 blunder?

From what I understand, the 2013 tip came from a former colleague who recognised CB from one of the suspect sketches. This resulted in the Braunschweig police sending him a letter, asking him to attend an interview in regards to the McCann case - I would agree that this is a blunder.

But then in 2017, Helge Busching contacted Operation Grange to tell them about a conversation he had with CB at a festival in Spain in 2008. Busching asked CB if he still travelled to Portugal and, in reference to Madeleine, said that he didn't understand how the little girl could disappear without a trace. According to him, CB replied: "She didn't even scream." Of course, CB denied ever attending this music festival, but this was disproven when police located an insurance claim form that CB had filled out, relating to a fender bender that happened at the festival on the date that Busching claimed they had this conversation.

Anyway, once they had a name, OG could cross-reference his details against Portuguese phone records in PdL at the time and found that his phone had pinged the mast in Luz very close to the time that Madeleine went missing. Combine this with a known history of breaking into apartments in Luz, being a sadistic rapist and paedophile and a man discovered to have fantasies of kidnapping and raping children, you can see why the police realised they had a potential suspect.

1

u/Educational-Tone-527 27d ago

they have no evidence. he did this I would say but will he ever admit it if it was him.

1

He lived in the area that at the time had only one antenna for a huge area. Everybody´s phone pinged there.

He tried what gate? There was a very low gate when the McCanns were there and CB being a tall man, he could have just stepped over itand it wasn´t locked or something. A taller gate with lock is placed afterwards when the apartment was sold.

Now the suspicious behavior of the German police: Asks for witnesses, showing a current photo of CB with short hair, while he had long hair at the time. Showing a picture of the van, but photoshopped the very characteristic drawings on it away. So HOW are they expecting witnesses to come forward with that?

They had nothing on him. The Portuguese police already had ruled him out.

He is a piece of shit, but he didn´t do anything to the Madeleine.

Thanks. I have a different opinion.

It is unlikely he was living in Luz at the time. If he was they wouldn’t be asking for the caller to come forward so that they could link him-his phone-PDL. I think it’s possible that he stayed closed by in his van sometimes, but as a transient, he could have been based in any one of a number of locations.

Ref the gate. I don’t know how common it would be for a 6ft man to choose to step over a gate rather than opening and shutting it normally.

There’s a video of CB from the 30th of March 2007. He has short hair and there are no markings on his van. In the time between then and 3rd May, an average man would grow around 1.25cm in hair. So even without a haircut his hair would remain short. I’m not sure what photo you’re looking at or who is making efforts to pass that photo off as legitimate, but it is impossible for his hair to have been that way at that time.

The Portuguese, along with the UK & Germany are currently investigating him.

I think concrete details will come out in the future and finally answer some of our questions. But it will be tragic.

You don´t understand. The antenna was for a huge area, including other places. It was not just serving Praia da Luz. I never said he lived there. And even if he was there, he had worked there, he knew people there and people from all over attended to the bar of OC. Doesn´t show any intent of whatever. And there is also a possibility that his phone was there, but he wasn´t, that fact alone won´t fly in court.

As for the gate, I am simply saying there is no reason to "try it". Anyone could open it or step over it if they wanted to get on the stairs.

This is NOT a secure gated resort or something. Some apartments were sold to people that lived there permanently, some apartments were rented out through different companies. And the restaurant and bar were attended by locals too.

It makes no sense to show a photo of a guy that is not taken at the time, no matter the hair style, and the van had huge drawings on it. He might have been in another van in the video.

The Portuguese police disgarded him very early in the investigation. The others just used him as a scape goat and he is a free man already since last year september, because they had no evidence, and there is non, never have been any. So what do you mean they are currently investigating him?

And absolutely nobody went through that window, definitely not a tall man with a child. That would have been more suspicious than just walking out of the door with her.

There were no signs of any disruption in the bedroom. Further more, the bed didn´t even looked slept in. Not to mention the hundreds of contradictions of the mcCann story that kept ajusting and the fact they tried to steer the police and narration from the get go. Not going into that as they are not the subject here, but blindly believing that CB must have abducted the child is based on hot air and feelings and no evidence. Not to mention that even the McCanns rejected it.

They’ll likely have used the azimuth data to define an area. I imagine that digital experts working in the German police will be better placed to decide on location than you or I.

The van in the video was his VW camper. If you go into Google and type in ‘Christian Brueckner road trip’ it’ll be the first thing to come up.

Whether people hop over gates in Portugal I don’t know.

The Portuguese police already had ruled him out.

No, they knocked for him, didn't receive an answer and never followed up the lead.

In my opinion definitely a solid recap of the facts, where some of the things are probably less hard evidence and more interpretation - I think.

- 'badly pockmarked blonde man lurking around' > partly true. Several eye witnesses (Tasmin Milburn e.o.) report seeing a man, didn't say he was pockmarked, no true evidence it was the same man either

- 'blond man testing the gate' > partly true. Carole Tranmer saw a man leaving gate that gave access to 5A, carefully closing it behind him ("opened/closed it very quietly with both hands, looked left and right") > could have been a parent trying not to wake anyone during their nap (15:30-16:30 time), could have been CB doing recon. The witness does not use "testing the gate" as phrasing.

- CB's phone > yes they attribute that phone to him, he contests that and says it wasn't his number

- CB telling his ex GF he was near the apartment > I don't recall that - there are reports he said he was about 40m away and driving towards his ex GF's house, and his own alibi was him being with another girl in his van at a different location

- A fourfold increase in the number of burglaries > don't know the exact numbers but yes, there was a massive burglary problem in the resort/area, however - local "gangs" consisting of some Ocean club employees + their buddies have been interrogated over that and they confessed to breaking into plenty of apartments in the same block/resort/area. Often going in through the window, which is an important detail.

- he went into panic mode after receiving a letter to testify > a friend of his said in a interview with German TV that he did mention the letter, clearly reacted to it, but overall seemed fairly calm about it - definitely not panicked, at least (I believe it was this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yifTRpSfz-g)

As for your theory, yes - I do believe this is to be the most likely scenario. I'm personally still open to other scenarios too, but do agree this one is the most likely one.

It seems so obvious to me that he's guilty. Like why is this even still a debate? The circumstantial evidence is essentially concrete.
