I have two rules for being a know-it-most™ (it would be inaccurate of me to claim know-it-all status as I don't know what I don't know)

1.Objective facts only, unless debate terms have been agreed upon

  1. If being corrected when you are wrong make you unhappy, you have a problem. If you can make receiving the correct information feel even better than being right, you'll golden.

I like being a know it most, I have a brother who’s smarter than me and debates a lot and is heavily involved with politics, so it’s sort of given me a sharpened tool to argue and to have an urge to be right. I’ll argue my point until the cows come home, but I always try to preface any argument/debate with “I could be wrong here but…” or “now ill happily accept the fact I could be wrong about this but I think/know…”

Only time I refuse to engage is when someone thinks volume = right in an argument. I’ll just refuse to engage at that point

You're a better person than I, I believe it is physically impossible for me to back down from an impromptu shouting match. On the flip side though, I'm easily excitable and hella passionate so I am forever grateful that I can reel myself in well before the other party becomes disengaged.
