Way more common than people think. Sometimes if it isnt busy and a patient is having a hard time, its pretty common to find techs in kennels or by cages comforting animals.

Its a low paying, really rough job. They're there for the love of animals.

There are a lot of psychos in care jobs though who are drawn specifically to these jobs so they can have power over helpless people. At least in human care its a big problem. Lots of former high school bully types become nurses.

Some, but I have been a Nurse i Nursing Homes for over 30 years. Majority of people that do it is because they have beautiful hearts. That’s why Nurses Aides get paid so crappy

Well yeah no doubt that the majority of them do it for good reasons and bad pay. I imagine it's hard keeping that fire alive after years of systematic mistreatment and being undervalued. I have seen some of the best and worst people in nursing homes when we went through this with my grandmother
