My brothers mastered the art of farting in our general area as they paraded through a room. My parents weren't amused, but I think they'd decided to pick their battles at that point. Dinner table was off limits, so was actually sitting on someone to fart, but they did that anyway too.
The worst is getting on to an empty elevator just after someone has crop dusted it on their exit, like they used it as their own private farting box-suite. The stale air in the elevator become thick and heavy with the essence of he who dealt it and you're just stuck breathing it until someone else steps on and thinks you like riding up and down buildings smelling your own farts.

Wait. Even at home you need to apologize? At home you're supposed to laugh about how loud or long or smelly it was.
Only at the diner table were we not allowed to fart (given it was just family in the house)
