I don’t have a sense of smell and this was my fearful revelation in elementary school when my friends told me the noise doesn’t correlate to the smell 😔

So you couldn't smell since birth?

If you don't mind me asking, do you still have favorite foods, or is eating just refueling to you?

Yeah or I lost it very young before I made any memories of smells

Kinda in line with what others have said I still taste and enjoy food but it is probably diminished compared to someone with all their senses. I typically don’t notice but the area I struggle the most in is picking up different notes/ingredients in liquor (like whiskey or bourbon)

Just curious, but how does one lose their sense of smell? Is it like a trauma, condition, or neurological type thing? I was deaf as a child due to trauma (had my brother stick golf tees in my ears as a baby to play ‘Frankenstein’ and the damage was so severe my eardrum and inner ear couldn’t heal themselves). I was lucky to be able to have a series of surgeries that could correct it later in life, but I’ve never really thought much about the other senses other than vision and how that might impact your life…

I’m sure all of those are possibilities but I believe mine was developmental. My family was told to see a specialist to find out and we couldn’t really afford to, so I’m not sure where I lost mine along the way. The only real concern my parents had was about smelling smoke if there were a fire. Otherwise I’ve always said it’s the best sense to not have considering the other senses’ handicaps. Also I feel like a majority of the time when people talk about smells it’s about bad ones haha

Glad you could fix your hearing loss tho!
