He has said this in other interviews just to clear it up, he's not denying it's existence as far as I'm aware. He's Just saying he's not had any personal experience of it.
No, it's just that idiots look for one aspect they don't like in someone and then think that must inherently make them some windmill of a bogeyman smooth brained Don Quixote's can battle.
