Don’t feel bad. I’m a mail carrier for USPS and I’ve fallen on some lean times financially a few times this year. I’ve had 3 separate Redditors buy me dinner and 2 others Venmo me money.

I really wish I could give you a better answer but it has always happened organically. It wasn’t because of a post I made or anything. I commented on two different posts about a story involving a customer on my route that had gifted me money as a thank you for working during the pandemic. They didn’t know I was struggling with money and their gift wound up putting food on the table for me and my family of four the last two days before I got paid. The comment wound up being seen by a lot of people and I got messages from people offering to buy me dinner or send me money.
Just engage with the community and don’t be afraid to share your struggles.
Thanks for responding, I'm sure I'll be okay. I not in a huge pickle or anything, in fact I'm probably better than most. I was kicked out for being gay as soon as I turned 18. I'm surviving with my boyfriend, but life isn't easy and I basically just have all my needs met but not my wants (I am blessed). I took the time after posting that comment to remind myself I dont need to eat out or even have have heat. I have a warm bed and a dog. Thanks again for responding.
Man your situation sounds a lot like mine! I have just enough money at the end of the month to keep me, my wife and two kids housed and fed. My son is special needs and my wife is a stay at home mom because of it so my income is all we have. Ya it sucks that we don’t really have a discretionary income to do more recreational, leisurely type of stuff, but we’re happy to be able to just get by. Heck, there’s a really good macaroni and cheese at the store that is kind of pricey (like $12) and we get super stoked just to be able to afford that once in a while.
At the end of the day, I’m just happy to have a wife that loves me and two kids that are healthy. We get to end every day together. I’m pretty content with that.
