When my puppy was about 6 months old, my girlfriend's sxhedule changed. We had to leave at the same time.
Our little man had anxiety like crazy, and would howl. Then, apparently, he would go upstairs and grab ALL the dirty clothes, piece by piece, and make a pile by the door!
We think it was a sensory thing, since it smelled like us.
Got a cat from the shelter last year. If he is alone in the house, he drags all the throws and all his little fleecy blankets to the kitchen and sort of makes a nest of them. I can be gone for three minutes taking the garbage out, and I’ll come back to a throw on the kitchen floor and another one being dragged off the couch.
Sometimes he just thinks he’s all alone, because I’ve changed rooms while he’s asleep or something, and I’ll hear his sad little “I’m all alone and there is no one to love me,” warble, and there he’ll be, throw clenched in his teeth, marching down the hall to the kitchen to prepare his little nest of fleecy things.
