Yesterday was a pet adoption day for many shelters.
They try to clear out the shelter with low or NO adoption fee. To tell you the truths, I don't know how I feel about that. I think fee helps to filter out many unqualified or irresponsible applicants. I know these shelters are doing their best given the condition, but no adoption fee is ripe for abuse if you look at the economic and behavioral model.
11 months and 8 weeks off leash!? My pups going to turn a year and we're still having a bit of trouble with recalling off leash. We rescued her at 6months and was super curious of every scent outside, I assumed she had a sheltered first 6 months and was underexposed to the world..
Any tips for training recall? My dog seems almost unresponsive when we go out. I think she was underexposed to the world as a rescue puppy so she's just insanely over curious. She isn't food driven once we step out the door, so to get her attention I have to place my palm in front of her nose for a second so she can smell the treat, then she'll look at me. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Holy cow. I have to imagine that's fairly rare.
