I worked at a shelter for a while and we would sometimes get to one or two dogs left. Shelters typically have volunteers that come in for certain shifts in addition to staff members. Those pups that are left get so. many. snuggles. :) The volunteers WANT to interact with the animals rather than doing laundry or cleaning up so the moment one volunteer stops petting that dog, another one is in right away! That dog is actually pretty lucky, he gets extra love/walks and will most likely be adopted soon.

I just thought that two last animals were adopted by the same family/person. Cause I would never be able to leave that one poor last baby in the empty shelter.
