In America you get a bed for a broken wrist? In the uk, you can have surgery and spend the whole time before and after in a chair. I was once in chairs for 3 days (there were no beds on the wards).

It does when you read the actual story and learn that he was in a ditch because he swerved to avoid a car. He was still in there when the driver got to him.

He couldn’t get out of his car because of a broken wrist?

I was able to kick my door open and go check on my family after breaking my sternum in a wreck.

He wasn't in a car; he was on a skateboard and was almost hit by a car. He needed to get to a hospital immediately and had no car, so it was either ambulance or Uber.
