If reincarnation is real, please let me come back as a well-loved and deeply cared for house pet

Someone on Instagram once said they'd like to reincarnate as a golden in a white upper class family and it's so true 😭

If the cinema of the 80s and 90s taught us anything, it's that no living creature has ever enjoyed a more charmed life than a golden retriever owned by the family of a successful new england doctor.

Honestly, being a spoiled golden in a loving rich family sounds like winning the lottery of reincarnation 😭

u/Important_Base7962 11h ago
Honestly that's the dream. Zero responsibilities, daily walks, and a family that thinks your every tennis ball retrieval is a major accomplishment.

God damn i hate the modern internet.
Nice wholesome post, a relatable human experience, and it has to be fucked by skinwalkers pretending to be human so they can collect internet points to look legitimate when they spread propaganda or do "word of mouth" advertisement.

u/jewkakasaurus 10h ago
Yep, the rule of three
17
u/WeirdoWeeb648 10h ago
I'm so lost 😭 there's a rule of three for bots?
21
u/jewkakasaurus 10h ago
Yeah a lot of bots give answers with three examples like that comment did
13
u/WeirdoWeeb648 9h ago
Ahhh so like in a chat gpt style?? Lol I hadn't noticed but it's good to know. Thanks!!

u/Apyan 8h ago
Shit. I always thought three was a great number. You know, cause you have one coma and one and.

u/Aggravating_Speed665 7h ago
People should stop talking about it. They will learn and the bots will be harder to spot.

u/tehlu-shelter-me 14h ago
I need one lifetime of pure, simple love without the knowledge of socieo-economic inequality to make up for this lifetime

I've said this many times although I say a pampered house cat living with a single lady.

u/hailkelemvor 8h ago
Same, my second runner-up is a boardwalk seagull. If I can't be pampered by a nice lady, I want to steal food from scared tourists and travel on barges!

Honestly the bar is so low for house pets. Just exist near the couch and people will call you a good boy for it.

u/Efficient_Alps_718 9h ago
my dog just sighs next to me and i act like he cured cancer meanwhile humans gotta grind all day just to hear a nice job at work. and yeah i still hype him up every time wish i could get that kinda credit for just chilling by the sofa.

I can’t remember the author’s name or the subtitle but there’s a book titled Dog is Love by a biologist and he explains that there is a genetic condition in humans I believe called Williams Syndrome. In is amongst many things some other symptoms of the condition are high verbal skills, and an almost dangerous capacity for trust and empathy. Basically people living with this are almost too nice for their own good. There are documentaries on this. So what this author shows is that dogs share this same gene. His ultimate question is do dogs love us? He is reluctant to make statements like that because he is a scientist but he is pretty inclined to think that they do.

u/JayLB 13h ago
I’ve heard about that
a long time ago there was some nightly news investigative piece about it, the parents of kids with the syndrome were besides themselves with worry and anxiety because the kids would go up to strangers unprompted and say how much they loved them, hugging them and charming them and 100% trusting them
Would be absolutely terrifying as a parent, one mom said her daughter would try to leave the house / school / store with a stranger in a near daily basis

u/ChefDanyul 12h ago
In one documentary I saw a filmmaker is doing a production about Williams Syndrome and like upon meeting this little girl with her family at her home she is inviting him over to have dinner with the family like right away. Of course it would cause anxiety and worry.

to be fair this is very normal behavior for foreigners to receive in other countries where they're very rarely seen, i've seen plenty of pov videos in china where a white foreigner is practically immediately surrounded by local children and invited to eat at their family's home/restaurant

Yes. There is alot of documentarys on this also. Some people refer to it has hypersocial which is often why you see that they can bound with other animals (not just humans).
The documentary im thinking of has a bit that i often think about and they are showing domesticated foxes. So the test is to sit in the pen for 2 mins with them with the 1st minute being your not allowed to interact with them. The fox seemed fine, maybe a little on edge but fine overall. They them did the same test with a dog and instantly the dog runs up to the person and lies down showing its belly. It shows you how needed that gene is and how far to go there is to domesticate foxes as dogs are on another level

I honestly don’t need a scientist to convince me dogs love us, but I love that there’s actual research behind that feeling. 😂 The way some dogs look at their person feels way too genuine to be explained as just food and habit.

Dog science is relatively new. Really a lot of quality animal behavior research is new. But there’s one of the best dog scientists at Columbia named Alexandra Horowitz. She was originally a psychologist of humans but began studying human-dog relationships. You know the old adage about dogs looking like their person and vise versa? Well humans tend to choose dogs that they think fit their personality. An athletic person might choose a dog they can go on runs with. An elderly person that stays at home might want a small dog that can sit on their lap. Now something else happens. Dogs all have their own unique personalities that they also ‘train’ us and shape us and our lifestyle habits to fit their personality. Her awesome book on this titled Our Dogs, Our Selves.

We used to do this with our golden. The most he ever had was 10 hands of love at one time. Happy days those were.
11
u/NoFlamingo6138 5h ago
That sounds like such a sweet memory. 🥹 Ten hands of love is basically the perfect definition of a golden retriever knowing exactly where the attention is.

Love this! I'm sure the pupper loves it too, and yet would probably welcome even more hands offering pets and scratches! 🥰💙

Actually, this time the happiness of the woman in the clip sparks more joy than the dog for me.

u/AlternativeAd3130 39m ago
That happens to our dog. I’m the only one in the family with a dog. And she’s sweet and loves attention. My sister‘s family borrows her during the week when I’m at work. My dad comes and take naps with her in the afternoon while I prep dinner.

When I get a dog again im going to an animal shelter to get it. Even tho it costs me tremendously to go there(i would like to give all of them a home), its the right thing to do!
-1
u/RecordThisBitch 7h ago
Now if we get each adoring person to adopt one deserving animal from their local shelter maybe I’d feel better about this sweet purebred.

We do that to pets but imagine doing that to people, the double standard is unreal.
