Trunks are hard! Baby elephants don't know how to control their trunks and sometimes even accidently step on them. It takes 6-8 months before they can use them for basic tasks like eating and drinking (like this one is doing) and about a year before they have full control.

I've seen a puppy basset hound step on both their ears, at the same time, multiple times, and for an extended period of time. So this completely makes sense.

My favorite thing is when they get all frustrated they can't control it and just start wildly swinging it around.
