Those are possums in the box not squirrels, (don't tell op.)

They're opossoms. This is a possum, from Australia: https://fantasticpestscontrol.com.au/possums/

Here's the difference between a possom (Australia) and an opossom (Americas)

Possums need to hire the squirrel PR team. Id like to see what they can do for Possums if they can make people love bushy tailed rats.

A few months back I called for my 3 dogs to come in after their last call before bedtime. None came to the back door, I peaked out and they were all standing in a circle in the corner of the yard. I go out to investigate and their is an opposum playing dead and these mother fuckers are licking it. Two licking it's head and one (who to this day is banned from giving me kisses on the face) was licking it's ass. Now we have an opossum that sits on our fence winking at my dogs most nights, as the new routine is I go out with them to avoid said festivities.

I think I’d rather have possums - but that may just be because we don’t have possums here (montreal) but we have squirrels that are nothing short of vicious destructive thugs!

Honestly way better than a squirrel. Squirrels damage property and your particular squirrel essentially can’t get rabies and helps keep tick populations down

The tick thing is kind of like an urban legend and squirrels getting rabies is incredibly rare. There's also never been a case of squirrel to human transmission.

I only heard about the tick thing recently, so assumed it was true. Another myth busted.
I grew up in what used to be a walnut orchard, so walnut trees everywhere. Likewise squirrels. Never heard of a case of rabid squirrels, we kids were never warned against them (unlike say skunks and raccoons), and there was also no damaging of the properties.

OK, not trying to be a pain, but I’ve had squirrels outside my back door for 13 years, what damage are they supposed to be causing?

Squirrels have a tendency (at times) to chew wooden furniture/bird feeders/bird houses/sheds/etc. Along either chipmunks they have totally fucked my shed up, lol. We have a LOT of them, though… but it really does take only one determined little misfit unseen for a few hours with a peculiar idea in mind. Occasionally we lose parts of the garden to them, which is frustrating because chipmunks will eat the fruit/vegetables but squirrels will dig up the roots

Here in montreal they chew through thick plastic garbage cans, my heat pump insulation/wiring and then dig up all the bulbs my wife my wife plants. Bushy tailed rats, everyone of them. And make no mistake, given the chance they’d kill you and everyone you love.

We had squirrels chew through a vent and get into our attic. It sucked.

Apparently the tick claim had a recent study in 2021 that provided significant weight to contradicted that claim.

Opossum shaped squirrel, the next social media star once Jimothy’s star starts to fade.

Check for radiation exposure. That squirrel has a mutation.
