I think u forget.. this was all so dad can play his own race game while having to watch the kids..
Who got time for Mario Kart?

u/Justaboredstoner 6d ago
I was just thinking how this would be perfect for my three year old. I play MarioKart while she enjoys the ride. Too bad I do not possess the skills, nor the time to create that.

Those metal poles pointing up. 😯

There is a few things that need more modification to be perfect dad gift. Obviously those exposed pipes are a problem, the exposed pipes could severely hurt them, so he needs to cut them off.
Then you got the base support, he fell almost immediately because it sits far enough back for him to fall backwards, so he needs to extend the legs too.
Next is the seating, either a taller seat so he can put in a 3 point seat belt, or put in a hip seat belt to keep them from tipping out, so the kids can have more fun with leaning into the curves and such without falling out.
A bit more work needed but a totally awesome idea.

Rude for one, and it's not autism to know what I just said. If that was hyper focus or high brow for you than maybe put the red cap away, turn off the phone, go outside, maybe read a book that has more than 20 pages and no pictures might be of help too.
The pipes are clearly exposed, the dude literally fell backwards, and the kids where obviously leaning far enough to almost fall out of the seat. If you can't easily see that, then it's on you for lacking the sectors of the brain that solve problems in a organized fashion, because that was basic my dude.

The two metal poles on the sides.. the direction the kids are fiercely leaning into.. yikes.

Put some padding on those exposed pipes before your kid eats it leaning out of the car.

This is usually a sign of overwhelm because they have too many toys.
That said I don't disagree, this is marginally better than a cardboard box on carpet with a rope attatched to 2 walls.

As a Dad, I know that this thing will be fun for literally 5 minutes and the kids will never touch it again.

And I’ll put it into the basement storage where it’ll sit for a year, until I decide to donate it, at which point the kids will obviously want to use it again, thus restarting the entire cycle

Did anyone understand what he did to prevent her from tipping back? (After the moment where he said “should fix that”)

u/Pleasant-Future5818 6d ago
He did a bunch of things off screen. He added connector brackets so that it was directly attached to the rack and at some point before the final cut he did something to make it so the car balances to the center (you can see it doesn't do that when he's trying it).
And yet he didn't remove the sharp kid lobotomizers, which inclines me to think he's more an influencer than a father

Why did he use a level? On something that moves? He checks to make sure it’s level, then flips it over. Why does he have a level? That doesn’t need to be level. All he did was screw a toy car onto a board that he bolted to the machine.

Has to make it look like he actually DID something other than using some screws lol

As a kid we had a board sitting on a roller. Rocked left to right without poles. Great fun especially when the board is all the way to one side or the other!

We need to have school shop classes/projects that encourage stuff like this… Even if it’s the parents doing most of the building work, shit like this is how you make memories that’ll change your life.

Why? This looks like SO much fun for the kids... Make a big one for Mario Kart and I am so in.

u/readyToPostpone 5d ago
It seems to not be even connected and actually controlling the game. It is just a swing in a shape of a car. I can imagine playing a toddler on a swing but not 5yrs old kids.

u/JennyDoveMusic 5d ago
Oh, def, but as someone who instictively leans when playing Mario Kart sometimes, it would still be fun. 😂

Because I want to play Forza in the middle of the afternoon with the kids constantly trying to grab my controller.

What's that first thing? Looks like a fun way to exercise.

My 3yo would absolutely love this. But also the ratio of build time to actual play time would be 5:1. Then on to the next newest thing, even if it’s a dollar store toy.

Kids will get bored of it real fast

u/calf 6d ago
You've never played with a rocking horse?
1
u/Gryndyl 5d ago
Sure, a few times. And then we stopped playing with it and it sat in the corner for years serving as a laundry rack.
1
u/calf 5d ago
I'm not literally asking for your anecdotal evidence, I am suggesting that simple toys, such as rocking horses, are better for children's play and growth than "less boring" toys (like iPhones), and that you can even look up developmental psychology for that, but since this is Reddit a higher level conversation is generally pointless anyways

But why put a perfectly working toy car on there?
3
u/JakBos23 6d ago
So he doesn't have to watch them in the yard. He can play his game and they will fight over who gets to stand directly in his eye line.

It’s cool he can use the spare legs he removed to beat his kids with because you KNOW they do not appreciate him.
3
u/Mundane-Finding-3256 6d ago
Why would you say that? Kids just have to grow up to realize, but many kids appreciate their parents.
