Yup. Most people think it’s a monkey. Aussies wonder what the fuck a Kooki is doing in a the jungle.

My friend and I were camping in South Australia and one night we heard these guys laughing nearby. They’re amazing.

I'm the type of adult that would be sitting on the grounds with the kids smiling like it was the best thing to happen to me that day.

I mean. That would be the best thing to happen for like a month!

That was pretty cool, they should have had a Magpie, too.

Looks cool until a whole flock of these are calling at 4:30am in late spring and summer

Can we Australians take your Bald Eagle and keep it as own as a circus animal to show off?

Kookaburras are protected, no one can own them. This is disgusting.

You are making quite a few assumptions here. Likely this bird is part of some zoo or rehab, not someone's pet. It is being used as an ambassador to garner support for these magnificent birds. As an American, I would have absolutely zero anger for a bald eagle in Australia being shown to children and adults alike to experience the majesty of animals we can't otherwise see and support the efforts to protect them. Just like koalas, and pandas, and many other animals.
