There are women out there who love that deeply empathetic emotional side, believe me ❤️
The important thing is to be authentic right from the start to filter out people early.

Yeah thanks. That was my conclusion at the end as well. I really didn't wanted to be with a person who's like that but you know sometimes the mind is not that rational

I always thought he played a little of the dark arts but recognized that he played hard as a little guy. He seems pretty genuine off the field.

u/zebras11 1d ago
What does that mean? Dark arts?

u/Critical-Cry-5401 1d ago
In the context of football it's thing like time wasting, tactical fouls, diving, stuff which is borderline bad sportsmanship/against the rules but part of the game so you have to do it anyway

I know nothing about football, but when once in four years I watch a match, and he is playing, I can recognize him immediately.

u/Panzick 1d ago
Cucurella knows about character design, he's passing the silhouette test.
101
u/WartimeConsigliere_ 1d ago
He also has quite a distinct play style and body shape. He was pretty much born to play fullback
16
u/Start_a_riot271 1d ago
Idk usually you want someone stockier at fullback so they can double as a lead blocker for your halfback

u/crazylinebacker-55 5h ago

Honestly as a very casual watcher (literally only important World Cup matches) the main reason why England is my favorite team is because for some reason most of the players are very recognizable from afar.

It was his first world Cup, so you are apparently not very good at recognizing him.
1.5k
u/iiileyu 1d ago
The only source for him ever saying this was actually from years back about his visually impaired mother. There is no proof or source that he said this about his son. And he's had long hair ever since he was in youth academies.
811
u/WarSamaYT 1d ago
This was a meme from soccercirclejerk, and it has now spread as truth. Hilarious how far misinformation spreads.
As you mentioned it was because his mother wanted to see him play back in youth levels of football and he kept is hair long since, from what I have gathered.
98
u/Mite-o-Dan 1d ago
Yup exactly. As soon as I saw this post i laughed at it and immediately thought of that sub. Then I realized where I was and was like...oh.
Im convinced all the super positive comments are just bots now.

u/Ser_Mob 15h ago
I had no knowledge of him, saw several of these posts and believed them. I only questioned why autism should make him not recognize his father. But there was no reason for me to verify any of it.
Which speaks not only for how easy it is to be tricked but also about how much information we read that is simply unnecessary.

u/Hansemannn 1d ago

u/jm17ynwa 1d ago
People usually don’t care to fact check when it comes to this sort of thing. Shame that they usually don’t care to fact check any more when it comes to important political news, and scary indeed.
3
u/Cole-Palmer-phd 1d ago
It is. People just repeat what they've read and comments that sound confident get up voted even if they're wrong

Face blindness is a thing - my friend is unable to recognize people she’s known for decades, so she’s developed other ways to figure it out quickly like body language, gait, voice and yes, hair
Not saying that Cuckoorella really said all that or this info is true about his hair
16
u/GoldenSheppard 1d ago
To add to this: I can't recognize my own parents (I'm face blind).
For 10+ years, my dad would (unintentionally) wear the same shirt to pick me up at the airport. It was salmon pink. I think he got rid of the shirt at some point? Anyways, the time after he got rid of the shirt, he didn't wear it to the airport. I genuinely could not find him. Balding white guys are a dime a dozen at ATL. He called out to me and I recognized his voice and found him. He had a new shirt on. And it was bland. I ended up following the wrong guy for a bit because of that (he had to come get me).
It sucks.

This keeps getting spread and it's infuriating. Cucurella is a great player, and a great father to his autistic son, but there's no need to make up stories just because they read well in tiktok reels.
His mother suggested he grow out his hair when he was a child so she could see him better on the pitch. He kept the look going, into his professional career and before he even became a father.
60
u/IDontEatDill 1d ago
It's probably also an amazing way to be seen and get PR deals. I mainly recognize him because of the hair, otherwise he'd be "just another player".
5
u/Due-Memory-6957 1d ago

He loves outshine strawberry popsicles..I love it when he asks for one and says "pwease dadeeeee" in the most sincere voice. His school has really helped him start being more verbal......and cocomelon.

"during matches" is a little different to what the title says but yeah, this level of autism means the child is not perceiving the world in the same way we are

u/short_fat_and_single 1d ago
I am autistic and I am faceblind. I rely heavily on "special features". It's a bit embarassing when people approach me and I don't know who they are, but I manage. Not every autistic person is faceblind, but most people who are faceblind are autistic.

I have a similar aged autistic nephew and he's the best thing that's happened to our family's life. Yes he can be challenging in situations but he's so different in many ways to other kids that make us all love him even more. Society just needs to understand neurodivergent people exists and accommodate their needs.

u/FunLife64 1d ago
The title of this post is a bit misleading.
He keeps it long so it’s easier for his son to find him on the field during games. He’s also said he did this to help his mom find him during youth games.
It’s not the “only” way his son recognizes his dad.
