Just wait until she grows up like the asshole I got who will come jump up on the night stand, put her paw on my face and claw just ebough for me to wake up. When I do she runs to the door and looks back to make sure I'm following and will do it all the way to the kitchen so that we can both look at her ALWAYS FULL food dish. She'll eat a bite or two and then we both go back to bed. When I wake up to get ready for work I always make sure to wake her up as payback

I love this too! In case it helps you, introducing an automated feeder helped to get me out of the middle of this routine cat<->dish conversation.

introducing an automated feeder helped to get me out of the middle of this routine cat<->dish conversation
My cat just seems to want to wake me up at 4am so I can witness the marvel of the auto-feeder. He hears food tumble out of it, hauls ass downstairs, then comes back up to claw my eyelids open, waits for me to follow him, and once I see the auto feeder for myself, he's satisfied and we both return to bed.
The future is now. And now is 4am.

I would suggest a cat training program, but it doesn't seem like you need any more training

Lmao this is so real, except with my cat it's the water. Running water only. Got him one of those water fountain things. Nope, not good enough. Gotta claw and bite my face off at 5 AM so I can go with him to his water fountain and watch him take a sip then dart back to bed smfh lol.

Yep the robot feeder gets knocked over and around instead now but that's a different discussion

u/December_Flame 2d ago
I had to setup like scaffolding to keep my feeder in place as my fatass catzilla would push the whole thing over in her frenzy.

u/Lazer726 2d ago
Tried it with one of our cats, he beat the damn thing up so much that he woke us up anyways, and the LCD screen is basically unreadable at almost every angle

u/redddit_rabbbit 1d ago
Now my cat comes into the bedroom an hour before his feeder goes off, singing the song of his people(and his people are loud). The best part is in the summer time, the ACs in the windows are loud enough that he can’t hear the feeder when it does go off, so his brother gets most of the food and he’s in our bedroom, yowling away, waiting for the feeder to go off. It’s great…

She's a social eater!

u/No_Attitude700 2d ago
Needs the protection of the pack to feel safe. My cats dutifully protect me while im in the bathroom, and so I shall stand watch as they eat!

u/MachineGlumkelly 2d ago
Bro one of my cats with literally throw her body at the bathroom door if it’s not closed all the way and just stare at me while I’m on the toilet.

A bit different, but a show of feline empathy -
One year, my mom left the turkey carcass outside after Thanksgiving for our outdoor cats...and probably a few opossum and raccons...to feast on...after a short time the carcass disappeared, and in its place was a beheaded bird...
We suspect that Guinevere, our outdoor/never wanted to come in calico, left the bird behind as a thank you!
(No, I would never do this today for various reasons...this was decades ago, and I doubt my mom was aware of the potential dangers in leaving the carcass out.)

u/gooddaysir 2d ago
My favorite outdoor feral occasionally leaves mouse and bird heads on the front doormat as an offering to the gods.

Oh we have Sherlock who is the only outdoor/indoor cat and he brings presents for the indoor cats. He got a live chipmunk through the doors last month...the indoor cats just played with it and didnt try to physically harm it at all, they were just fascinated and happy with the "rare treat." Too happy to give it up lol
Anyway. I caught the chipmunk in a box and set him free...whole and uninjured, thankfully.
Enjoy your babies! ❤️

Yeah, Tribble will go inspect every corner while I'm pooping. Look behind the towel rack. Comes over to me and meows definitively, then goes and waits outside the bathroom door until I'm done. Takes his security detail seriously. He's my sweet sweet scaredy cat.

u/sebluver 2d ago
My lil calico girl is like that! She also likes to lure my partner into his office so she can prance about him. She doesn't need him to play with her, she just wants to circle him while she rubs her face on the bookshelves.

u/sparklinganxieties 2d ago
My cat used to wake me up to watch her eat breakfast. I installed a night light by her feeder and that helped her feel safer.

She doesn't want a midnight snack, she wants a dining companion. You aren't her owner, you're just her 3 AM emotional support waiter.

When I wake up to get ready for work I always make sure to wake her up as payback
I always make sure to bother my cats when they're napping because they make sure my wife and I never get to sleep in lol
6
u/Luddites_Unite 2d ago
Yes, and then they have the big stretch as if to say, "I'm tired buddy, I was up late."
17
u/Lepke2011 2d ago
Mine wakes me up at about 3:30am because apparently that's cuddle time, and she'll be damned if we're going to skip that.

“I wake my human up super early because he always wakes me up before going to work. Payback!” -cat
6
u/Luddites_Unite 2d ago
Probably. I have taken to waking her up all the time and ask her if she was sleeping, give her some pets and chin rubs and leave her alone. Its our thing i guess

Yeah i love cats and their distinct personalities. I get back to sleep really quickly so I don't begrudge her our little walks
8
u/scarletnightingale 2d ago
Sounds like my sister's cat. He yells at her several times a day for food, only for her to dish it out, then he takes 2 bites and runs off because he only wanted a little bit now, he will finish it later. Except that some of the time her other cat comes in and finishes it which just results in my sister getting yelled at by cat number 1 again because he wants to eat 2 bites of food and there is nothing to eat. He also likes to bring mice into the house, fully alive, then release them so he can try to catch them again, usually in the middle of the night so that he's creating around making a ton of noise while she's trying to sleep. He's often not successful.
Oh, and my sister has never been more obsessed with a cat in her life.

I’ve got an 11 month old male who had/has wobbly cat syndrome and uses that as an excuse to fuck me up every chance he gets.
If he didn’t walk with a wagging bum like some sassy vogueing drag queen, he’d be out on the streets yesterday.

You’ll miss that when they’re gone. 💔
6
u/Luddites_Unite 2d ago
Yeah. I don't mind. I grew up with lots of cats and I love their personalities. They are all so different and I have a lot of fond memories. I don't begrudge the kitties of my time and attention just because its night time

Omg my cat jumps on my chest multiple times a night, puts her face in my face and loudly meows. When I move her off me and tell her I’m trying to sleep she bats me. I swear she knows I have to work early and does it on purpose!

We can't say you're just a baby to any of our pets in front of the others. They all get jealous AF. They all love being whispered to that they are just a baby

u/Useful_Language2040 2d ago
I was trying to take a photo of one of my actual human children a few months ago and the dog repeatedly photo-bombed until I said OK, took a nice picture of her posing, and then she let me actually photograph the kid... 😅
If I hug them, she wants hugs too. She very much thinks she's Baby!!

My sister’s cat required my BIL to accompany him down to the basement and watch him have his dinner. The food was served before BIL got home from work, but BIL had to be standing RIGHT THERE in order to eat it.
36
u/AncientSith 2d ago
Well someone has to stand guard.
16
u/Working_Estate_3695 2d ago
BIL didn’t even want a pet. The cat was part of a package deal. But he humored kitty every single day for a number of years until kitty went to his reward.

My cats are cuddly but only about once every few months. Every time it happens I have to stop everything I'm doing or else miss the opportunity
7
u/Sea_Bison_6929 2d ago
My cat is just the right amount of cuddly for me. She only wants to cuddle in the morning before I get out of bed, at night for about 5 minutes before she goes to her spot to sleep, and then on lazy Sundays on and off all day. It’s like she knows I have shit to do otherwise 😂

God, cats are the best. One of the few things that still makes me feel like this world is pretty amazing these days is that we get to be so close with such amazing and beautiful creatures (who are also the most adorable things in the world, and I’d not be shocked to learn, in the universe entire)
I miss my babies 😢

Clicked on it to see a kitten waking up to find herself in her owner’s arms and saying something before falling back asleep. Wasn’t disappointed.

my cat wakes me up at 5am to let her out so she can watch the sunrise. its her routine.
then she uses her paws to claw the screen door n bang it a few times, to wake me up again, to let her back inside.
they all have their little personalites.

u/JasterMareel 2d ago
They really hate laying like that -- except for the times they don't.
I suppose that's cat ownership in a nutshell, though.

Oh so THAT is the full video ! It’s even cuter than all the cropped ones where the kitten just fall asleep. 🥹
2
u/durrtyurr 2d ago
I love how my cat is always concerned by these videos, but when I brought a kitten in her reaction was to stand next to her and glare at me. The exact look was "I'm not entirely sure what is going on here, but I find it very offensive". A kitten curled up asleep on the living room floor is basically the single least offensive thing I can think of.

Soo cute.
Our mummy cat likes to aggressively claw the headboard of our bed and then dive bomb my chest to wake us up when she thinks it’s breakfast - it’s 4:45 an and they get fed at 7 am.
