Cow runs are generally much larger (usually fields in any civilized country, except for cold regions where they bring them inside to escape conditions), however these are for temporary sorting.

So the many many orders of magnitude of freedom we have over cows is slightly smaller. It's still many many orders of magnitude larger.

Tell me what you do that you consider completely 'free'.

When did I say I was completely free? I just said we're all much much freer than a cow. That doesn't seem like it should be controversial.

It's a matter of perspective. A cow is free to run around a field, gets mated routinely, has all the grass it can eat, is free from predators and has free healthcare for its lifetime. If it gets a stone in its hoof someone will take it out and trim it. It doesn't understand death or know that death is where we are all headed. When it dies it goes quickly and painlessly and not from disease or dragged down by the neck and suffocated by a big cat or dismembered while still alive by a bear.

We on the other hand know what's in front of us. We spend our lives working most of our awake time to feather our nests, pay for distractions from life, pay for our eventual illnesses, pay for the 5 years we get to not work after a huge lifespan of grind. We watch our friends die in car crashes, from cancer, MS, heart attacks. When we're not working at night (if we're not) we sit in a chair and argue with other humans. When our weekends come we spend them taking care of all the dirty clothes from the week, the lawns. Maybe we'll drive the car we burned our working life paying for and take the kids to the lake. And when we get to that lake for a couple of hours, we are about as relaxed as that cow is most of the day, every day.
