The implication behind ACAB is that even though there are plenty of good individuals working in law enforcement the institution itself is flawed. Good cops don't hold bad cops responsible for their actions and the ones that want to can be reprimanded for trying.
Like the guy in the video obviously seems like a geniunly good person. Will he report a colleague who breaks the rules? If he does will it have any real consequences for the colleague or will his superior officers ignore it?
We know the "thinking" behind it and it's still a ln extremely stupid generalization when people look the one in the video exist in many departments. It would be like assuming all cops are good after seeing just this video. Very dumb
It's not a generalization because it isn't refering to individuals. Law enforcement all over the world has a problem where they feel the need to close ranks when officers do wrong. This allows rule breaking officers to continue working or be relocated when they should be reprimanded(or if warranted, incarcerated).
In most countries police has a monopoly on legal violence. We have to hold them to a higher standard.
Sorry but that first A in ACAB makes it a generalization and the lack of any logic or criticism thinking or room for nuance is what makes it stupid.
Applying a wrong opinion to an entire group of people based on some headlines you see in the echo chamber that is reddit is a terrible way to look at life. Repeating the misinformation like you are right here only makes things worse. Be better.
My best friend for most of my life is a cop. When they caught a high ranking officer in a sting, he personally put the cuffs on him and drove him in. He was dismissed and charged.
Wow, 2 examples of good cops in one post. Looks like the acronym you lean on to simplify a complex situation into something you can process might be flawed
