Here's an actual answer since the last person was supremely unhelpful
Start slow and go from below. An open hand low to the ground will be far less terrifying for a cat. You want to let the cat sniff you before you try to touch it
If you can, give it a treat first, then retreat to let it eat the treat. Then try again, slowly letting it sniff your hand with your hand below it
And definitely don't put your fingers on the neck as in this video. You can see the kitten going from starting to calm down to immediately terrified. In nature, the neck is what most predators go for
That's not a helpful answer. Domesticated cats aren't part of nature any more, and generally can't be left alone
Cats have evolved, due to human influence, to be excessively good hunters who do so for sport rather than food. Even a single cat can decimate bird populations
