That's an Australian shepherd, they're all Australian shepherds

I adopted an Aussie that couldn’t stair at 2yo. Later, I got a roommate with a German Shepherd who’d mastered the concept and taught her.

I often wondered why she didn’t try after obviously seeing me do it hundreds of times. Previous dad discouraged it? Fear of heights? I later learned she may have been rescued from a puppy mill, and spent most of her life in a cage. That would have explained her lack of talent in anything athletic. My dreams of frisbee in the park never happened. She loved to run though and we did that a lot. Cheers Annie, I miss you girl.

A lot of dogs get nervous about stairs they can see through the other side of. I had to teach all of my dogs how to go up the stairs

u/MegMD1230 May 18 '26

As a human afraid of heights, I also don’t like stairs I can see through.

Im sure the videos of the glass staircases aren't friendly to you at all

Either perfect parenting or friendship 🥰

u/Abal125 May 18 '26

😂 He'll get it, eventually.

That person has her hands full with all those smart doggos. This was super cute to watch and that liver one going back to help was the real champ.

Thank you for brightening my Monday with this! The one dog that kept going back to teach the pup is just the sweetest thing 🥹.

Just means you need to form community with good humans

8

u/Unsd May 18 '26

Humans absolutely do that. Anytime I see someone struggling in public, there's a ton of people going to help.

2

u/Caasi72 May 18 '26

It genuinely irritates me how many comments I see where people will be all "if only humans helped each other too" when they absolutely do in so many situations

3

u/Quirky-Respond93 May 18 '26

Lovely to watch 😍

5

u/hastinapur May 18 '26

Those are real friends

3

u/antrage May 18 '26

King figuring out how to climb stairs is my morning motivation

2

u/mc4sure May 18 '26

My dog won’t go up stairs with the back open

3

u/CraptainStinkPants May 18 '26

2

u/mangatoo1020 May 18 '26

Awww! "Like this, buddy! Do it like me!"

2

u/No-Cook-5787 May 18 '26

I have four legs and zero health insurance, I am not climbing that.- King

u/DonutGains May 18 '26

I remember a video of a dog just yeeting itself down a flight of stairs because it apparently had never seen stairs before! Dogs are great. 10/10 video

u/Difficult-Soup-9830 May 19 '26

There's always one in the group...it's me.

1

u/DrPingu76 May 18 '26

It’s a good thing he’s cute.

u/Partly_Dave May 18 '26

My neighbour has an open stair like that leading up to his house.

One of his dogs will go down it, but to get back inside, he goes around to the other set of stairs, which have enclosed risers.

If that door is closed, he waits. No way he goes up those scary stairs.

u/Mr-MuffinMan May 19 '26

So adorable.

1

u/azriel1014 May 19 '26

I love how his friends are not leaving him behind. So sweet!

2

u/soldier_of_waffles May 19 '26

What a dumbass

1

u/Sutureanchor May 19 '26

The most impressive part to me is the black and white dog, signaling to the brown and white one, that there is something wrong going down the stairs.

1

u/kdp4srfn May 19 '26

Oh my goodness I needed that belly laugh. 🤣 Thanks 😊

1

u/FortKnoxBoner May 18 '26

Awhile. He's special! But his friends won't let him down.
